You show me yours, I'll show you mine

In my opinion, it is making the game easier, because PvP encounters are the heart of DayZ. If such a system existed, every encounter would consist of people asking to see stats, regardless of whether or not people choose to show them, which will more often than not, result in a "yes" or "no" response. When you encounter someone, you need to get a feel for them & their intentions using your own judgement just as you would in a real life situation. If someone committed murder in a real post-apocalyptic scenario, & said murderer were the only witness, where else would that information be documented other than his own conscience? Especially since his victim practically has no identity considering the downfall of the government in such a world. Also, players in DayZ very much do display body language. We can't see things such as facial expressions, but you can see if he tries to stand close to you or far away, if he keeps looking around, checking his surroundings, if he takes a long time to respond to your questions, if he gives you short answers, if he keeps his gun drawn, etc. The tools are at your disposal. You mentioned that TWD portrays a more realistic representation of the apocalypse. But how would a documented stat system portray that any better? I understand that revealing the stats would not be automatic. You've made that very clear.

You show me yours, I'll show you mine

This^. Just like real life, people can lie & deceive if they please. It's up to you to decide whether or not your encounter can be trusted or not. I don't want an "easy" way of telling that's spelled out for me. Keep getting killed by people you trust? Work on your judgement. There's no sense in trying to make the game "easier". Also, trying to determine whether your encounter is friendly or not is the fun of DayZ. It's a much more personable experience. I don't want DayZ to become fabricated. & as others have said, huge immersion-breaker. EDIT: Say that they did implement said stat system. How can you determine how many of your encounters kills were justified? How do you know whether all of his kills were in self defense or if he was on the offensive & is just trigger happy? In my honest, humble opinion, it seems like a very flawed concept.

    quick question on bags/tents/persist

All backpacks should stay persistent regardless of whether they rest inside a tent or not. Or all items for that matter really. I'm pretty sure everything will degrade over time except things such as tents, vehicles, barricades, etc.

    Let Us Holster A Banana

A pretty simple suggestion. As the title states, we should be able to put a banana in the chest holster. It would also be cool if we could hold it in our hand the same way we would a pistol. Why am I suggesting this? Well because in the end, DayZ is still a game. & games are meant to be fun. I personally want to be able to do it for comical/novelty purposes. Yes I know that the devs are working on far more important matters at the moment, & I wouldn't expect them to prioritize anything like this. It's subtle gimmicks such as this that really make a game stand out in my opinion. Look at all the subtle easter eggs Bungie has done for the Halo series. They make people say "Hey, that's really cool that they did something like that". I want to see how successful I can be holding up people with a banana. lol I'm as serious as can be. :) Would anyone really be opposed to something like this? Has anyone else had an idea for a "novelty" mechanic such as this?

    Let Us Holster A Banana

Aww man that's a bummer. :( It was worth a shot though. The notes in that report are pretty funny  Everyone wants to carry a banana in their chest holster!

    Let Us Holster A Banana

Yeah, I suppose it could be an immersion-breaker for some. I personally just have an easter egg fetish.

Zambies kill you even when they're dead.

There are seperate teams dedicated to each of these. Making all of BI work on Zeds regardless of each individual team's expertise, would be like as if you owned a restaurant, & made every single staff member such as your host/hostess, waiters/waitresses, & bus boys all work on one single meal at the same time instead of just the chefs themselves. Just because we're seeing improvements in different fields, doesn't mean that the zombies are being neglected. ;)
  11. The finished game is going to have a weight & stamina system. There will be such consequences for taking more loot than your character can handle. Players will be forced to take the bare essentials, in a nutshell.

    I want some combat.

    We're everywhere, man. Everywhere.
  13. & that's your right, & I support you. Come to Svetlojarsk, that may change sooner than you think. ;) Greet them with a "Good evening officer, what seems to be the problem?", answer their bullshit questions, then part ways & light a fatty.
  14. Never said you did. So we're suppose to not voice ourselves & conform because that's just how it is? What about our 1st Amendment rights? It's unAmerican. We're a minority in your eyes. FYI, it takes the majority of voters to change such laws (i.e. Colorado, Washington) At no point did I say that I dislike our society as a whole. Quite the opposite -- I very much appreciate our society because I'm given the right to voice my opinion & be heard, where as in other societies I could be beheaded. What if MLK never voiced his opinion? There is absolutely no sense in making this argument personal. I'm stating my argument, & you're arguing incoherently. At what point did I say anything even pertaining to this whatsoever..? I have the same right as you do to act for change. Regardless of the amount of supporters & those who share the same views as I do. Please, show me what rules I've broken & I assure you I won't let it happen again. Although I'm sure I'm keeping my argument well within the rules & guidelines of this forum. If anyone is close to breaking rules, it's you, my friend.
  15. So your argument stems solely from personal experience & not fact? & where are the facts that state that any of those crimes committed were nothing more than the byproduct of someone being under the influence of a substance? Every crime that you just listed has been committed by plenty people who were perfectly sober & in their right state of mind. Drugs are not the cause of 100% of crimes. In fact, crime rates have dropped significantly in states such as Colorado & Washington since the legalization of marijuana, because for one, it's literally no longer a crime to possess it, & secondly, it takes cash out of the drug cartels hands. & good, hard-working citizens now have a safe place to go to find their product. Colorado raised 2million in dollars in taxes in it's first month of selling marijuana legally. All of which went to school funding.
  16. There is so much research & evidence that supports the idea that Cannabis is the most beneficial plant on the planet. Hemp literally has thousands of uses. Anything ranging from paper to the breakthrough for the cure for cancer. You seem to be pretty unknowledgeable of the matter.
  17. Mind-altering substances such as alcohol which is perfectly legal? Who's to say that these "drug-crazed" killers didn't have an underlying sociopathic mentality in the first place? & as far as addiction goes, both alcohol & tobacco possess addictive properties, but those are both taxed & regulated by the government. The same government that wants to heighten gun control & disarm those who are prone to falling victim of these "drug-crazed" killers. Ever hear of "bean-rage"? When people are heavily under the influence of government regulated drugs to the point where their judgement is impaired & they do things such as commit homicide. What about all the societal problems of those & their families who have been incarcerated for minor marijuana offenses, although our very president of the US has admitted to using? What about all of my hard-earned, payed tax dollars that are being wasted on the incarceration of those same Americans who are facing multiple years in prison for something as minor as a gram of a dried herb? Something that flourishes naturally in many regions of the world. The same goes for those who suffer from things such as heroin addiction. They chose to use the drug, knowing what the circumstances would be, & they just as easily have the right to choose to go through rehabilitation. But instead my tax dollars are wasted on the incarceration of these fellow Americans rather than their treatment. Regions such as the Netherlands provide heroin users with clean, sterile needles to minimize their chances of contracting diseases such as aids. They treat them with the same respect & care as any other sober citizen. What gives you any more right than myself to determine that? I'll admit that my vision isn't picture-perfect, but neither is the justice system & society that we live in today. & ultimately, it never will be. That's life. But, given my natural born right, I will voice my opinion & stand up for what I'm passionate about & for what I truly believe in for those who share the same vision as I do.
  18. I can't be incarcerated simply for thinking or voicing my opinion. These are also our rights as human beings. Marijuana is also grounds for a felony offense given the right quantity & jurisdiction. I strongly believe that all humans have every right to do whatever it is they choose to do to themselves. They're effecting no one but themselves, & even so, whether they are actually "hurting" themselves or not is entirely opinionated. The American government is the world's greatest distributor of drugs. But no one's incarcerating them now, are they?

    Considering playing on 'merican servers

For me, when playing on UK servers, my ping is ~130-150, & I notice my keys being a TAD bit less responsive. But yes, absolutely playable.

I've been a big jerk. My chance to change.

Speak for yourself my friend. It's a shame that a thread that's trying to squash negativity has to result in negative pessimistic responses.

I've been a big jerk. My chance to change.

I applaud you. Now if only the rest of this community could be as aware of their attitude as you. A positive outlook from this community is what DayZ needs to excel to it's full potential. What is going to motivate the devs to give it their all if all they get in return is spit in their face? Beans.

    Elektro spawn gone?

The idea is that we (the survivors) washed up on shore (the east) & must survive by traveling inland (the west). Yes I know survival isn't hard atm. Alpha.

Why does 'feeling the pulse' reveal the name?

I agree that checking pulse shouldn't display the characters in-game name. Our names really are just names that the government can document & regulate to know who it is they're keeping tabs on. Yes I know that people require names simply to socialize on a day to day basis, but in a post-apocalyptic world, the name that you had before society crumbled is now meaningless.

    bridge spawn thingie

I can't exactly "confirm" personally, but I believe so. Why not just play regardless? If it happens, change servers. The stable branch wipe is well on it's way anyway. It's not like you're getting out alive.
