Yeah, we should all have to check this forum, then reddit, then twitter for information on fixes. Taking the glitchy shit out of game or communicating on their own forums like any other dev team would just be a step too fucking far.

The hacking is the reason we've all stopped playing for now, can't speak for everyone but I guess that's the main thing just now. I don't care if I clip into a wall and die, but god mode hackers and constantly being nuked is something I just can't be bothered with.

Well you must not try to engage in very much PvP, I 'fought' 5 people tonight, 2 of them were invincible god mode hackers. It's about a 50/50 ratio of 'god mode' to legit players these days. Luckily, like most hackers they sucked and even in god mode they couldn't kill any of us, which is a pleasant change.

Whats the point playing the game if you're just going to stay away from other players? That's online singleplayer mode and it's fucking pointless.

You're a denialist or you've been incredibly lucky, I mean win the lottery type luck. If you've played at least once a dayz and on different servers each day, that's 26 servers. Even if it was the same server it's thousands of different players, the fact you haven't been teleported or thunderdomed or at least killed by someone in god mod is nothing short of a miracle.

Over the last 5 days, 100% of my deaths have been from hackers. Not the 'was that guy hacking or was I lagging?' type of hacker where it 'probably' is a hacker but you aren't quite sure. It was the 'teleport you into the air/ doesn't die when you shoot him in the face with 20 bullets at 10 feet and laughs in an effeminate voice' types. Private hives, although not immune to hackers are certainly better. The admins tend to care about that shit and have more freedom ban people. And there aren't 5 people around cherno with hacked as50's, which is a pleasant change. DayZ, as a mod with a central hive is dead. The infestation of cheaters is just far too severe for even casual play around the coast, let alone 'serious' supply gathering and vehicle repair. Pretty much everyone who was streaming DayZ and getting really into it has stopped.

And here's my obligatory comment on why hackers are ruining the game, just for you! Firstly, you're right with almost everything you've said, I've been against and am still against the idea of private hives for either the alpha (info gathering suffers) or the standalone. DayZ should always be a persistent hive game, not any random joe running his own little kingdom. Now, I think most people understand this game is under development. However, people want to play the game regardless if it's an alpha or a finished product. 1 million players aren't 'testing' dayz out of the goodness of their hearts, they're playing it to enjoy it just like any other game, despite the bugs. At this point getting any enjoyment out of DayZ is virtually impossible for the honest players who just want to have fun with their friends, hacking is far too rampant. If you're unlucky enough to engage another player, then there's a good chance it's a hacker with god mode on, then you lose all your stuff. I know, "alpha alpha alpha, stop complaining", but people just want to play without harassment. And anyway, any stats they're trying to gather at this point about player behaviour have got to be so heavily screwed up by all the scripting that the alpha testing is almost pointless. So hacking isn't just ruining peoples play experience, it's ruining the alpha test too. I have not found a server that I haven't been nuked/teleported/turned into a goat on in the last week if I've played for more than half an hour. Keep chastising people all you like, but that my friend, is the sad situation we're in. +10 internets for using the word tomfoolery though.

So I accidentally pressed 'female' as gender when I was loading in. 'Ok', I thought, that's fine, I'll be a slightly smaller player model to aim at. Little did I know people playing DayZ are sick wacko ass maniacs (actually, I knew that). I'm in the cherno supermarket trying to get some basic shit, some guy comes in with a lee enfield and says 'hey sexy thing'. I wasn't on my usual computer I couldn't talk to him, so for all he knows I'm really a girl. Then it gets WEIRD. He starts asking me questions, are you a girl? Ever kissed a girl before? Then he demands I 'cyber sex' him on direct chat. 'Tell me I'm in charge you slutty little fuck toy' he says. Now, I'm going along with this because I really want to see what the conclusion is here. 'You're in charge, big boy ;)' I type. After a few more minutes of lewd, sexual remarks(that I don't respond to) he makes a noise over direct chat, 'fiiiiiichaa!', then he sort of pants like a dog? I'm pretty sure he pulled one out. Then he says, 'Well, I'm done with you, fucking skank' and shoots me in the head. Did I just get cyber raped on DayZ?

Stop hosting the forum on this - Seriously, slowest web forum I've used in years. Also, you could reduce the server load by about half by removing most of the pointless, flashy features this forum uses. Why does it update while you're replying to a thread to tell you someone's replied? That's like 2 more http request's, minimum, probably more. When you click inside the reply box it must tell the server 'someone's typing', then it must send it back to you to say someone's replied. Like half of the time I refresh the page the site is offline or it takes 30 seconds to load. 100mb connection, wtf? There's no way a web forum should be grinding your host into dust.

It's going to be epic when the standalone takes out the hackers and we can have fun doing this sort of stuff.

They aren't planning to fix this until standalone anyway. (and even then they haven't said what their plan is)

At the moment, DayZ is totally unbalanced. Only 30-40% of the players I see have an AS50. This is really unfair for the rest of us, so perhaps we should just spawn with an AS50 in hand? Other sniper rifles need to be removed too. For one they never get used, I haven't seen an M24 in weeks, yet I can log into any server, go to elektro or cherno and hear and AS50 cracking off almost 100% of the time. This will reduce server load (though minimally) since these other, useless sniper rifles won't need to be spawned in anymore or tracked by the database. In fact, if we're going to go all the way and make the AS50 the starter weapon (like it should be at the moment), let's just remove all the other guns, except pistols. The AS50 is a perfectly legitimate weapon and is absolutely not out of place in DayZ's zombie apocalypse setting. It's especially not strange that a fairly hefty percentage of players have it. If you even try to suggest otherwise, you must be deficient in some way. If the zombie apocalypse does ever happen, I'm just going to kill the first person I see on a hill with an axe, take his AS50, then put it in my tent. Then give one to each of my friends. Haven't you guys ever seen dawn of the dead? Day of the dead? 28 days later? the walking dead? land of the dead? Those people weren't armed with piddling little handguns, shotguns and the odd rifle. They ALL had AS50's.

Finally, an admin that actually fucking admins and restarts the server now and then. Poor admins are ruining Dayz.

I find it amazing they haven't just been removed already to be honest.

You've got to be less subtle, OP. People don't get what you're driving at when you write it like this, they aren't the quickest bunch. See my thread, 'make the as50 the new starter gun' for how to best get beans with satirical banter.

Just for a bit of variation, perhaps some people should spawn with the M107 too?
