  1. People use the generic term 'hacking' to describe cheating/scripting/exploiting these days. The context isn't important, because in this example we know 'hacking' specifically refers to people scripting on DayZ.
  2. So you believe you're entitled to hack, basically? That's what it always comes down to, immature, entitled kids believe they have a 'right' to do it because someone else done it. You seem to be defending hackers quite a lot. Awww, those poor hackers, they were bored/wronged by DayZ! This totally justifies it. Totally.
  3. From the number and quality if the mods it seems like anyone can be one these days. Perhaps make him a mod? He seems like a smart fellow.
  4. That's not how hackers work. Chances are that guy was just bored of multikilling full servers for the day and decided to do something else for a change. The MO is always the same - player feels he has the right to circumvent the games mechanics and raise themselves above other players, the justification usually changes (it can be different excuses, other hackers, players killing them they don't feel should be killing them, bugs, boredom) but the motivation is always the same. They're normally quite young, very self entitled kids that just don't think rules or fair play applies to them. They'll find 1000 different excuses, but those are the facts.
  5. Those were just excuses, I can guarantee you anyone who's immature enough to try to justify their hacking also killed other players. Probably in god mode. These people are of the opinion that no one has the 'right' to attack them, they don't feel that's how the game should work so they hack. Hackers are just carebears that died too much.
  6. And I presume you're going to hack on that too if you die to another player and feel it 'unjust'?
  7. So hacking dipshits like you can ruin the standalone too because another player killed you and you think you've got some 'right' above the rest of us to get stuff easy?
  8. I can't believe anyone has sympathy for someone who got owned on DayZ then decided to become part of the problem instead of part of the solution. This 'If you can't beat em, join em' attitude gave rise to the worst atrocities in human history, you're all weaklings.
  9. TL;DR = I bought DayZ, I wasn't very good at it and other players killed me. Feeling the need to get the better of other players I decided I'd start 'hacking', since after all, what right does someone else have to kill me? I told myself that wasn't the only reason and it was because of bugs and other hackers. PS. My penis is small.
  10. Rocket has repeatedly said that what he's trying to achieve is a persistent world survival game where death 'really matters' and it's difficult to advance and gain new gear etc. That's all great, I like a challenge. But there's really no sense or use investing more than 20 minutes into a game when the hacking is so rampant, it really has reached epidemic (excuse the pun) proportions now. Literally every server with more than 30 people I've joined in the last 2 days has been besieged by hackers. Yesterday alone our team looted 14 as50's. 14. Of course we all died, since the hackers can just respawn behind you, and no matter how well you're covering each others backs, they'll get you in the end. For me DayZ is only multiplayer, single player doesn't interest me in the slightest, but there's no future in a multiplayer with so much hacking. Now, we all know hacking is a part of any multiplayer FPS, it always has been and it always will be. But in DayZ it's far more common (like every second server common) than in say...battlefield or some other shooter. Rocket's own livestream got the thunderdome treatment earlier today. Please don't post telling me that you've only seen 1 hacker or something, it's stupid. I think we're all past that now and we all know how common it is. Unless rocket has a concrete plan to stop it for his standalone release, he might as well just call the whole thing off.

    Hacker gear?

The clothing is 100% hacker, it seems to be a popular 'hacker' badge of honour to wear the soldier clothing.
  12. TheMachine

    you sir, are an ahole

Not only was that guy a jackass with his questionable weapons he 'found', he was 100% a scripter too, since he had that army outfit that isn't even in game. Cheaters seem to use that one a lot, it's like a fucking 'IM CHEATING' sign.
  13. Restart. Your. Fucking. Servers. Arma 2 was not designed to run servers with this load level for extended periods of time. In regular arma things are cleared, new rounds start and everything is dandy. In DayZ, shit STAYS. Ever notice, when you join a server that's restarted in the last 3 hours it's really fucking fast to create character then load in? Whereas if you join one that's been up for 10 hours, even if it has like 5 players, it's SLOW AS FUCK. 3 - 4 hours should be the absolute MAXIMUM time a server runs before restarting. What's the fucking problem anyway? You can automate it. This shouldn't even be a guideline, this should be a mandatory fucking RULE that the Devteam gives admins, or they get blacklisted. RYFS, bitches.

    Poor admins are ruining DayZ

This is true, people aren't hosting on the right rigs to start with. But regardless of their hosting plan, a restart always helps. The vehicles thing, well that's just too bad. Doesn't really matter if you restart every 4 hours or every 24 hours, people going to lose their vehicles anyway. Perhaps stick in a server message when people join about it, until it's fixed. RYFS admins.

Get out of this thread, chump change.
  16. When I first heard DayZ was going standalone, I was really happy because I thought it'd be on the Arma 3 engine, which presumably has improvements to the Arma 2 engines netcode. Unfortunately Rocket says this is not the case, it'll be based on Arma 2's engine with a few elements from arma 3. Apparently arma 2 is a more 'solid base'. It's a real shame they've committed to this route now, because the netcode in Arma is TERRIBLE. Like the worst I've ever seen on a game that's so heavily focused on realistic PvP combat. I know lots of die hard Arma fans will probably disagree and tell me this piss is really apple juice, but come on guys. I'll concede that sometimes, it's actually decent, maybe around 30% of the time is somewhat bearable. Most of the time however, hitting someone running any direction but directly away or towards you is impossible, even at 30 meters. It's just glitch glitch warp zoooooom, some guy running into a wall or off a roof, but in reality doing neither. ...and don't even get me started on fucking hit detection. If you get into a close combat fight, the chances are if you both shoot, you'll both die. Sometimes it takes around 2 seconds for hits to register. I expect the obligatory 'your internet/computer sucks' post, so I'll just say no, they don't. It's time to stop denying the games shortcomings so we can improve upon them.
  17. So, it's our fault that the game is flooded with hackers because we PvP'd too much?
  18. That's what I've been saying for the last 2 weeks, but no one's listening, certainly not the dev team.
  19. I seen your videos and streams and I enjoyed watching them. It's my understanding that a lot of streamers have stopped now because of the rampant hacking, and I don't blame them. It is literally impossible to have a decent engagement now, I'd say 30% of the people that kill me are blatantly hacking, another 20% are very likely hacking. We've been trying some private hives, those seems to be a little better at kicking the scripters, but they still have their problems. People keep posting saying 'I've only seen 2 hackers etc', I'd hazard to guess they're either 1. not engaging in PvP very often 2. hacking themselves and trolling us 3. they're idiots who don't know how to spot it. 2-3 weeks ago was when it got to the point that you couldn't play for more than an hour on a decently populated server (30+ players) without being teleported/thrown into the air/thunderdomed or killed by someone who laughed at you because he was in 'god mode'.

    Chernogorsk International Hotel

    100 satchel chargers? 100% legit.
  21. Finally some common sense, thank you. It's almost as if people know these problems exist, but just find it funny to deny them or something? Or make sarcastic comments about peoples connection speeds. 100mb down and 10mb up with a fiber optic connection is fast enough. Hell, it's fast enough for every other online game I've played. These issues are sporadic too, you can have them with a 20ms ping then not have them with a 120ms ping. The point is, PvP engagements on a game with netcode this bad come down to luck more than skill around half the time. At which points the devs should be thinking about a different engine (arma 3, if its better). If it were a little desyncy sometimes that'd be one thing, but when it takes 2 seconds for hits to register on players/zombies that's WHOLLY unacceptable for an online game of ANY kind.
  22. He very likely died too, there's just a 2 second delay sometimes before we find out what's actually happened.
  23. It vehicles it just shows exactly how pronounced the desync is, since you're moving faster and with another person it needs to update your client to their location. That's how bad the desync is all the time, it's just that you're noticing it for a change.

Wow, you fixed up a chopper than all 3 of you bailed out to 'test' the parachute? I think after the second one didn't work.... nevermind.
