Hey all, I'm shaggy. Been playing since 1.7.0 and loving it. Can't wait until the stand alone though.

That's only if you launch it through steam. Most people use six launcher or dayz commander.

Yea, there really isn't much you can do about them. The bottom line is don't get attached to your gear and try not to get mad. The stand alone can't get here soon enough.

I bought 2 copies of Arma for dayz. One for me and the other for my friend. I'm $60 into this but I'm gladly forking over more $ for the stand alone... possibly 2 more copies lol. I don't understand what everyone's beef is. Sure it would be nice to get it for free but I feel the discounted alpha is sufficient.

Yes the $30 combined operations plus dayz is all you need to play. There is a way to use the arma2 free version and just buy the expansion but in my opinion it's worth the extra $10 for the higher resolution graphics. The standalone should be ready by Christmas at the latest according to the PCGamer interview. If it were me, I would probably wait for the stand alone version just because it will be more refined. The hacking has really gotten bad lately although the experience itself is still fun despite the headaches. If you do decide to get it now, they said the mod is still going to be developed along side the standalone. Not to mention Arma2 is also a pretty fun sim itself.

Hrm... I just joined a 1.6 and it let me in although it started flashing that I was running 1.7. Will that patch allow me into the 1.7 servers even though I am running the 1.7 of DayZ now? I havn't done any patches the the Arma2 or OA, just downloaded them from Steam.

Same problem. I'm joining through the game server list and not SixLauncher.
