I'm following the video tutorial on the forums,when I click Start Game on the Arma II launcher it starts up then crashes with the 'Error Creating Direct3D 9 Graphical Engine'

Pretty sure it's a cheat buddy, I'd refrain from using it!

This is awesome! I don't use it often because of my tablet itself, because it's really low resolution on my Asus Transformer Tablet. But I've used it, and if the resolution was fixed on it. I'd use it whenever I played. 4/5 stars! :D

I think jerks, I got into a group today, and one of the guys I was skyping the other I was direct comming, though my friend I was skyping he had troubles because we couldn't hear him over Direct Comm. (He heard me on both) So I'm not entirely sure but I think it's just people ignoring you..

What Merk1b2 said above me, I'm fairly new myself. Just another thing which you probably know already, don't be afraid to die and start again. That's just my tip which I'm sure you've heard already. But it's true, I die a lot. And I die with assault rifles and stuff, of course I'm like "God dammit!" but then I just respawn and continue playing. So do the same I suggest, don't ragequti because you lose good gear. My only tip

It's best to find friendlies in the south when you just start out, then get them on mic in steam or skype or something and you can kinda see if their really friendly or not. I met a random guy in Kamarov when I spawned on the beach, we split up because zombies chased us though. But we talked and had fun.

Because people have no defense for themselves against zombies and players, it becomes to difficult for new players. I'm someone who absolutely hates the no weapon thing, but it doesn't ruin the game with me. I often complain to my buddies while we pay. But the truth is. IM BETTER AT THE GAME NOW! Spawning without a weapon I'm now good at sneaking! Even at 1.7.1.4 I'm good at sneaking! I'd still love for the makarov to be put back in the starting pack, or any weapon for that matter. But because of this, I have improved in my skill at the game.

I agree, I'm okay with it being a little difficult.. but for new players, it's just hard! I'm kinda new, starting to know the ropes here and there so I'm kinda good at sneaking, etc. But my friend who started playing yesterday... he's never gotten far into a city before getting killed because he has no defense for himself by a zombie or survivor.

My friend can't see any servers in the server list, any help?

NO New players will join, have a hard time and quit most of the time, when current players will have problems with it and leave, and then there are those who will stay. But I'm sure a large majority do not like the idea of spawning without a defense. A melee weapon or less ammo would be acceptable.

My buddy is picking up Arma today, and we're gonna play together. Any Co-op tips and guidelines we should follow to maximize our survival chance?

This was over the course of like 5 hours, I was scared of Zeds and still am... so I was avoiding places as much as possible, I had gone into a town when I spawned in a fairly large city, and found a can of beans and a bandage, I started heading North and was chatting with people in the chat when I noticed someone was looking to hook up with someone. I said I would and wondered off in the wrong direction that he was going by accident and found a Lee Enfield, a hatchet, and some bullets. I took that and dashed out of the city afraid of the huge horde of zombies outside of the door. I decided I'd head south as I was low on food and needed some beans, and killing someone was the only way unless I wanted to face the fear of zombies. I looked for a town sign by one I was at, and pulled 3 zeds by accident. I dashed out and killed them all, but bleeding badly. I ran and saw another zombie was after me. I shot him dead and ran away, bandaged myself and continued heading south (I think) eventually I ran out of beans, water and low on bullets. I decided I'd clear out of a town, or die trying. So I pulled out my rifle and shot the zombies, killed at least 10 before being overrun and died...

I have not yet tried the new version, but bandits kinda have a field day don't they with this? If not a makarov we spawn with, then a melee weapon at the least. There are some players who try to stay away from towns as much as possible.
