This is why we should use ArmA III's Engine.

How does the arma 3 engine run in comparison? I've yet to mess around with the game, but I've heard from some people (not credible sources) that arma III runs better than dayz, while also looking better.

    M4 potency/accuracy

I'm still hoping that once smgs are added, the m4 can be revamped to function more like it historically does. The m16 though! Boy would I love an m16a4 with (s-1-3) select fire, a 500m semi auto 5.56 rifle would be extremely good for this game.

    M4 potency/accuracy

My post came off a bit harsh, sorry for that, just woke up and no coffee for me yet.

    M4 potency/accuracy

So much BS refeeding going on here... The 5.56 was not designed as a "maiming round", infact it's lethatlity when tumbling inside soft tissue is often greater than a higher gr rounds that have less tendencie to yaw inside the target... The major reason for moving to 5.56 was to introduce a significantly lighter cartrige, thus vastly increasing the number of bullets a typical soldier would cary. Significantly reduced recoil compared to larger rounds also allows for much tighter groupings when firing at high rates of fire. The 5.56 certainly is not a perfect round, and like the rounds it "replaced" still has quirks. An issue commonly reported is the tendency for the round to swiss cheese thin targets at closer ranges resulting in very little KE transfer. That being said, the round was designed to kill, and it does so very effectively. The m4 we have in game atm is some kind of abomination though... You should be able to thread a keyhole at 100m, but in game it's hard to even place rounds consistently on a dinner plate sized target at that range.

The Ruger MKII Is Coming, But Whats It Like?

I was more poking fun at the fact that the m4 has smg accuracy atm, and the 10/22 will probably be on par with the b95. But yeah, b95 needs a scope for sure!
  6. M4 is all kinds of broken atm... My guess is that it's stats are intentionally pushed towards "closer range" simply to test how smgs and less accurate rifles would work within game play. Overall the difference in accuracy between magpul and other parts is FAR FAR FAR FAR too great, and even with full mag pull, the carbine is far less accurate than it should be... This next part is kind of off topic, however I'd love to see barrels added to the list of weapon attachments for the m4 (and future weapons). They should come in varying sizes as well, with the longest being 16 inchest, and the shortest being 10.5 inches.

The Ruger MKII Is Coming, But Whats It Like?

So, is everyone ready for the ruger 10/22 rifle to be more accurate than the m4 in game? Yes, I'm poking fun.
  8. Exactly! along with hard coded "buffer periods" prior to chance of spawn on the majority of gear. This could mean (for the sake of an example) that the majority of higher end loot on the map would not start having a chance to spawn untill 30 minutes after the server comes up. If rarity was also factored into the spawn rates within these hardcoded buffers, it could in some cases take hours and hours (or possibly days) for some of the extra rare items to show up. In the end, a combination of what I described above, along with private server hives is going to be the only real solution.
  9. The Zastava M92. Kind of like an a74u, but it shoots 7.62x39mm, instead of 5.45x39mm. The gun should make allot of noise, have a big muzzle flash, and of course lots of recoil. Allowing it to fit into a backpack so long as there is no magazine loaded should be the upside.

The Ruger MKII Is Coming, But Whats It Like?

My suggestion to solve this (maybe I don't understand the whole issue). Is to have a suppressed firearm and un-supressed fire arm actually be two completely different items within the game code. Attaching a supressor to the a weapon should just remove the current one and replace it with the supressed version within your character inventory instead of having the code point to a different sound file when the requirments are met which I believe may be cuasing the problems. I think (I'm probably flat out wrong) a similar method is already in place when using spray paint on an weapons, as shown by the removal of the item from your "hot bar".

The Ruger MKII Is Coming, But Whats It Like?

The variant of the MKII we are getting ingame (as shown in the screens in the op) is most certainly, 100%, the integrally supressed Ruger MKII... It most certainly will be silecned, and has already been confirmed as such and SHOULD drop the .22lr ammo to subsonic speads when it leaves the barrel. It should still be capable of getting tight groupings at well over 70m if you're a good shot, which in terms of pistols, is very impressive. FYI, I've linked two pictures below. The first is of a Ruger mkII with 10 inch barrel, the second is of a Ruger mkII with an integral suppressor. See the difference? The majority of the length forward of the trigger in the second picture is actually silencer, made up of over 300 "baffles".

    Third Person Fix

This is such a good point and I'm glad that there are more people that think this way other than just myself... FOV can be extremely exploited as well, and I do very much agree that when this game goes to live or beta, that the FOV be fixed to prevent future abuse.

    How to balance sniper rifles.

The implementation of rare Nij IV plate carriers, and hard body armor would certainly help this.

B95, Mosin question | Sawn of Blaser K95

Not only velocity, but it would loose a good portion of it's rifeling as well... Sawning a rifles barrel in half would most certainly have a very significant effect on long range accuracy, even if you were able to saw the barrel completely evenly. Claiming that it would not is simply a misinformed opinion.

    noob, newbe, pro, veteran

For the sake of my optomistic beleif that most people are not brain dead, slow blinking, mouth breathing, paint chip eating chowderheads... I hope that the OP is trolling.

    Grass rendering on distance

I think rocket confirmed at e3 that this is something they would really like to do, however it most likely won't be making it into alpha.

    AKM or the AK-47?

AKM, and of course the ak-74 should be mandatory additions imo... I'd also very much like to see the Yugoslavian M92. Old school, or modernized, I don't really care.
  18. I'd love to see a few more 5.56 caliber weapons, most specifically... m16a4 with (s-1-3) firing mode. More accurate and slightly more powerfull than the m4, however no full auto as well as being slightly worse in cqb. Georgian military G5 Carbine with short barrel. Again, similar to m4, however slightly less damage and less accurage, but with better cqb handeling. m249 para. Short barrel for cqb, as well as the capability of using both belts, and magazines. Bullet Resistant body armor would also be a great addition, so long as it's rare, and degrades quickly when shot... Both a kevlar vest, capable of defeating several pistol caliber rounds, as well as some form of tactical plate carrier capable of defeating a couple rifle rounds up to 7.62x54mm.

Only new game that runs 4K flawless.

Where are you getting this stuff? "almost no difference" between 30 fps and 150 fps? You must be trolling...

Do you leave your morality at the door?

This is honestly one of the most comical threads I've ever read... On one side we have reasonable not completely insane people who completely understand that THIS IS A GAME... On the other we have crazies that for some dumb reason relate ones actions in a fictional role playing video game with re-spawns and server hopping to their real life personality... In all honesty, I thought the initial posts complaining about players killing other players were just trolling/joking, then I read further and was pleasantly surprised by the obviously unintentional comedy...

Do you want firearms to be rarer?

In my opinion The problem has little to do with the rarity of guns (or gun spawn locations) in the game... Instead it has everything to do with rapid server restarts, and people jumping from low pop server to low pop server just to stock up on ridiculous amounts of gear with little to no risk... The proper solution imo has everything to do with the inevitable re-spawn mechanics that we will see coming to this game sometime in the near future... What I mean by this is that only certain items should be instantly spawned on a server reset, of which only a few guns (across the whole map) should be available at the start. The majority would have delayed spawns, with some kind of randomization however still retaining a static "buffer period" before the probability of spawn would start. Higher end gear should not only have a longer static buffer period (could be anywhere from 30 min to 3 hours), but also a lower probability (longer duration) of spawns.

    Third Person Fix

Going to have to agree with he OP here... Being able to to exploit 3rd person view is and has completely changed the dynamic of a shooter... It not only breaks immersion, but allows for all sorts of cheese ball behavior... It's just plane stupid... Dayz needs to implement a very similar feature as to what's shown in that 2017 youtube video...
