    How exactly does the system work, which determines "in combat"? Maybe that could be used to find out who attacked on sight and who just defended himself. Not suitable for "stop looting my stash or I shoot you" but still good against KOS.

    What would YOU class as HARDCORE?

    First step is to make the game realistic. Up to the max. Vanilla is pretty close to that already. That would not exclude traders (if they only sell to you what someone sold them earlier). That would also not remove canned food. But you still can respawn, heal deadly wounds, carry large backpacks, recharge batteries by waiting and more unrealistic stuff you need for a game. Most hardcore server feature I could imagine? Ban players forever once they die. Stupid, but hardcore.
  5. You gotta do what you gotta do, and no assault comes without risk. Especially if there are so important items which are so rare at the same time. I think it makes some players more friendly and less KOS as you are in constant need of something.
  6. That's just the way ArmA works. Do you think it's out of lazyness that is hasn't been fixed in all those updates? You'll learn what not to do in DayZ quickly, even if you die to glitches a few times more. Avoid water, ledges, tight gaps, castles, rocks, crawling under objects, vaulting vertically in general. You'll be fine^^

    Texture problems

    For how long do you have those problems? Only after 1.8.3 or on 1.8.2 too? Good point with the GPU temp, always worth keeping an eye on those (the tool Speedfan shows all temps)
  8. I tried around a bit more. Sorry if I misuse this thread. First, there are two mods to download: "DayZ Namalsk 0.75" (~200MB) and "Namalsk 0.75" (~800MB). At that point I deleted and ignored the smaller one, because Namalsk officially has about 800MB iirc. I tried two different servers. The first being FinalDayZ. Normal login (doubleclick) fails with "missing item nails". Then I got the hint to connect with a manual command line. That worked, so I went back to the DZL and did a manual IP connect with the manual selection of mods to add to the command line. That also worked. DZL shows both Epoch AND DayZ in the server overview, so it probably tries to load both which results in a conflict. The other server I yet have to get to work properly is Pendulum Namalsk. No matter what I try I cannot connect to it. Except for one method: Steam-downgrade to DayZ beta 1.7.7.1, then regular connecting with DZL (Namalsk 0.75 was made for 1.7.7.1.). Although I am not 100% sure I don't believe this server actually runs on this old DayZ version. I did also try 1.8.2, but that gave me "outdated dayz_anim", which seems to show an actual outdated version. Strangely, my buddy did use DZC, all mods there up to date, and had no problem connecting to both of those servers! I cannot really try more, and I haven't found a forum for the DZL, so maybe some1 in here can make a sense out of this. Thanks.
  9. Anyone else has huge problems with DayZlauncher and Namalsk servers? It seems to mess up the start parameters. For example on ARTyoms FinalDayZ server... if I connect with a doubleclick, I get errors and endless waiting in a loop. If I do the custom-connect and choose the right mods myself it works. I guess it does a wrong readout for what mods a certain server needs.
  10. I got exactly this error, but only on Namalsk servers. (DayZ on Namalsk or Epoch on Namalsk both). Everything else works fine. I click through the lobby, it loads, then the error comes up in front of the lobby. If I click continue, it loads and counts to about 30-50 in the corner, then the error comes up again. endless loop. OA and DayZmod are in the latest beta within Steam, I use DayZlauncher and have Namalsk (not DayZ Namalsk) 0.75 installed. Umm is it possible that I have to go back to DayZ 1771 in order to play on Namalsk servers?? Gonna try this right now... So I tried a certain Namalsk server... 1.7.7.1 works. 1.8.2 says "outdated dayz_anim", 1.8.3 gives loop error with "item.nails"... wtf?
  11. I will. My buddy already was there, but I get a "missing item nails" login loop on Namalsk servers... gotta fix that first.

    optimizing my laptop for dayz?

    Open Steam, log in, wait for updates. Start ArmaII. Close it once you are in main menu. Start ArmaII OA. Close it once you are in main menu. Start DayZ Mod. It should start and show main menu with video background. Where in this list does it stop working for you?
  13. Again I am wondering how you make it run on such a machine. I tried it on a buddys notebook which has a decent i5 and a GT 640M together with 6gigs of RAM. So this has a dedicated graphics card, not onboard with shared memory. What should I say... yes if you crank the resolution down to 720p and all the graphic settings to their bare minimum, it actually runs somewhat fluid. If you like pre-2000 looks and an effective view range of 50 meters, have fun. I never disrespect other people's hardware or PC budget, but native monitor resolution, medium details and stable 30+ fps is what I think of the minimum to ENJOY a FPS game. And you cannot get that from integrated graphics. Mobile graphics could do the trick, but real gaming laptops come with fullHD displays and that limits the FPS a lot. edit: Why is this thread in the "suggestions"?

  15. Another thing I noticed quite a few times recently: What about making some objects throwable? I am talking about stuff you find very often but usually ignore... tin can, soda can, jackbottle, scrapmetal, maybe more. It would be awesome if you could throw them like a grenade making zeds walk* there. Meanwhile you can get past them ninja style, or exit the besieged building the other way. What do you think? It's what I would do in real life if there are zombies between me and some precious supplies... * or run there, which would have massive impact on gameplay. But even more cool. Imagine fooling bandits by making zeds aggro behind a building while you sneak the other way. Or you lure them to a known camper hiding somewhere....
  16. I'd love to have a way to distract zeds. Like if I want to have a drink from a well or get back on my bike or gut an animal near a village... The only way to continue is collecting them and then luring them into a walk-through building, which is more or less bugusing. Maybe it's against the game principle, but it would be nice to somehow lure them away just 10 seconds or so...

    Vehicle refueling

    That would be way to easy. Post-apocalyptic gas stations probably don't have electricity to power the pumps. IIRC in early epoch days there were the portable generator for auto refueling and the fuel ural truck of course. Are they available in vanilla?
  18. It's kinda working for some (random?) servers which it still detects, although it shouldn't detect anything, but it's totally useless for finding new servers to play on. Plus, it's very buggy around basically everything it does. But before playing around with launchers, get your DayZ to work at all first ;-)
  19. NO! DayzCommander stopped working a while ago. At the moment, only "DayZlauncher" is fully working.

  21. I think the commander only sees servers it found before the protocol was changed. So the old servers are still there, new ones will not be found or even detected as server if you enter the IP manually. But why can it find about a dozen 1.8.3 servers? They only exist for a week or less. And why do I still see some search results with correct playerlist/ping? It's confusing, but I won't accept being fooled by the commander anymore. I gave the "new kid" a chance and it's working good. Search filtering/sorting/fav organzing still has room for improvement, I only talk about functionality.

    Yeah with the sway it seems like a complicated piece of programming to get in back to where it was. We gotta give the devs the time they need. The current fix is in fact much better than the ubersway we had before.
  23. Yeah I thought so too. Everyone told me, it stopped working, but it kept working fine. Then 2 weeks or so ago it started dying. Now all my favs except for a few are shown offline, or with their IP as name and empty, and so on. Even connecting caused ArmA to crash. DayZlauncher is actually not bad at all. You have to reinstall all sub-mods, and the search is much less comfortable than the commander's, but at least its working nicely.
  24. I am always in favor of realism, but we should at least keep the game balance fair. Wooden splint as only cure for broken bone? Ok, why not. Can you find them in lootpiles? Hospitals? If only craftable: It's a whole tree and a string, correct? String should be craftable from bandages at least. Remember how easy it is to brake a leg in DayZ... you need a fair chance of getting out of that situation.

    Yeah they seem to be more aggressive, but at the same time I feel like they won't chase me for miles like they did before.
