Here are some of my videos to compare cooking times. Cooking was done on a hardcore server. Of course these times may change - you should really check the cooking times yourselves if you get the chance. Shots attract zombies - watch for them as they are often the best indicator in towns. Outside towns your best chances to locate where a shot came from is to wait and be patient and observe who is being shot at and when they are being shot at. If player A is standing on the north side of a building and is being shot at then you can determine that the shooter B can only take that shot from a certain direction. If player A hides behind the building you can be sure he isnt being shot at and therefore the shooter B is no longer in sight of A - work out angles and lines of sight and make you decisions on the best route to find player B.

Any BADLY DAMAGED bladed weapon/item can be resharpened to Damaged but not better than that. You cannot sharpen a bladed item if it is Pristine/Worn/Damaged. You can sharpen the blade if the stone is on the ground/fire and NOT in your inventory. The reasoning is that you can keep an axe or similar in a usable state but if you dont sharpen that item and it becomes RUINED then you have to find a new one. Very effective if you need to cut a lot of wood for fires, chop firewood - take wood to fire - use stone that is in the fire (if you added a stone or stones to the fire) to fix your badly damaged axe - go chop more wood - repeat until your bored..... An axe for example will still work if its damaged - too much emphasis is placed on having Pristine items as one glitch and its all ruined - a single mosin shot will mean that Pristine axe you carry is no longer any good for you as you will probably be dead. It's nice to carry Pristine things but sometimes those things dont need to be Pristine - all that glitters is not gold - do the best you can with the limited resources at hand.

What is your video card - video card sends signal to monitor. If it's an Nvidia card - did you update your video drivers. If you have updated your video drivers you may find rolling back the drivers to an earlier version may fix the problem. I had similar issues and I now run 314.22 drivers as they work for my video card and I have no more issues of back screen/random computer crashes/no video but sound only.

You should cook the steak stake beforehand.

After 828 hours of game play I killed 1 person last night because he KOS my friend.

Sometimes the flame and smoke wont activate - try taking the logs off the fire then putting them back on and relighting it. The effects are just visual and will not make the fire unable to cook things. You can also try adding more logs to the fire before lighting it.

Server maintenance every Wednesday. All servers are shut down in the early hours and all return eventually after a few hours.

It might be a fair comment to say that a fair number of people you meet have no idea how ingame chat works so may I recommend the following. Open the chat and say "Hi there you can talk or reply by pressing the right slash key / to type a response" For my computer in order to use Voice Chat ( default key is CAPS Lock) I had to go into my sound settings ( recording ) enable stereo mix and set stereo mix to Default Device and Default Communication Device - of course a lot of people might be using Skype to talk to their friends or if they are in a good clan/group/guild/whatever they may be using hosted comms like Mumble/Ventrilo/Teamspeak/etc and wont be eager to chat to a total stranger. To test Voice Chat - next time you respawn as a bambi - find another person and hide in a house or out of sight and talk to them with Voice Chat - a person who is unable to see someone else will respond positively to someone saying something - whereas someone who can see another person may not respond in case it's A TRAP. Please do remember not everyone speaks the same language and therefore may not understand "dont move or I shoot" <_<

Dare I ask what you mean by anaglyphic mode? It's not a term everyone is familiar with. A screen shot helps but I would hazard a guess that you mean it's like the 3d options you get from using 3d settings in Nvidia Control Panel - of course you would need 3d glasses or an external peripheral to see the screen correctly. First of all try to swim back to shore - get out of the sea. However an alternative is to try and get someone ( a friend ) to kill you before you drown again this may break the cycle. You say you spawn in dead - the screenshot you posted shows you are underwater near a jetty - did you try to commit suicide by drowning as that is usually where it all goes horribly wrong. Post here a server name/address and a time and the rough location of your character and someone will probably try to kill you as soon as possible - there are plenty of nice people who willingly kill others for less than what your carrying.

Posting a screenshot of where you are makes it easier as words are often misunderstood.

Keep crawling - try to find out where you are on the map - if your near a town - you will find some friendly zombies to kill you - problem solved. Go to the server list page ( change server page ) Select a server you want to join - at the bottom you will find buttons - choose details - select connect from that pop up details window. No matter what server you connect to you will still be crawling with broken legs. Dont try to suicide by drowning its a good way to glitch your char into repeated death scenario which may lock you even further into the problem. Alternative find someone on steam who you can ask to help you - or post here the server your on and try to mention where you are so someone can find you. http://dayzdb.com/map/chernarusplus is your friend - also you can use http://dayz.gamepedia.com/Towns_and_Cities to help you better understand where you are.

I personally would like to see bicycles added to the game - vehicles would need capable mechanics to make them works and keep them working - a bicycle however gives you unlimited fuel as long as your fed and watered you can go anywhere :) As soon as cars/boats/helicopters get added then this will cease to be a zombie apocalypse and become the same as any other mod/game....

I wonder - what if someone were to kill you next time you re-spawned would that break the cycle ? You just need friend to join you and wait for you to join the server your on - you could try it I suppose and tell us the outcome of this experiment :D

Razer Game Booster: FPS: Displays your frames per second. You can assign where you would like the frames per second to appear on your display. With this feature you can benchmark your frame rate between any two points. Would that be showing 17 FPS with a 137 FPS peak at some point prior to this screen capture ( probably from the loading screen ) Check Benchmarking Hotkey in the Screen Cast section. I personally dont use tools to make my computer run better - I make it run as good as it can then play the game - all programs are disabled by default so they never sit in the background. The best way to get your PC to play nice is to make sure you dont have apps/programs running in the background - if it doesnt help you play the game then shutdown the program.

You my friend are not me. Why is the first word out of your mouth derogatory and assume I am lying - 466hrs now (Standalone) and I have never killed another player. Not everyone is a liar but you assume I am so please reconsider that there are people out here that tell the truth.

I have not killed anyone and i have 400+ hours to my name - died numerous times to KOS - I have never actually met anyone who is friendly so far. I never played the mod or arma and I knew from the start this was going to be PVP yet I didnt realise that the majority of people here are real nasty when it comes to helping others even on this forum you ask a simple question and you get KOS in the replies. Honestly the humanity among the replies I see is horrible and at some point this game will fold and all the nasty comments will be lost in the archives. As you can see from the replies in this thread no one wants to be friends. For new players who are struggling this is a very unfair community and they wont help you even if you just want 1 can of beans. The only suggestion is to do the right thing and hope one day these people who are KOS and just here to make your lives miserable will suffer computer failures and wont come back until their mummies buy them new computers. I came to the game because I saw the game as being a good place to meet people help each other and blah blah blah be nice but I have to agree with the OP that there are no nice geared people out there - killing fresh spawns is purely being a-holes and when admins get released from this current control situation we will be making servers for people to learn how to play so they can find enjoyment in the world the devs created but no one cares about. When most people are running scared or looking through the LRS at a fresh spawn they miss out on all the devs gave us like sunsets - real world stars - textures that to the designers are a labour of love etc. All their hard work is meaningless if people dont get the chance to see it other than the black screen 90% of the time. I am a PVE player I avoid contact with people as best I can - I carry a crossbow and an fire axe to kill zombies efficiently - I collect food and medical supplies which I drop near spawn points or make up food caches along the coast - I dont kill others for fun so my life is nice but a lonely existence which suits me fine thank you !

This sounds like a video driver issue ( Nvidia ) - some video drivers dont work well with DayZ Standalone - you may want to check out older drivers if you have the latest one as the latest Nvidia drivers cause black screens and no video on some people's PCs. Not all PCs are the same so this is only a suggestion. I run 314.22 Nvidia drivers for my GTX 560 they work for me.
