Some good thoughts here. I have little to add except to say that--regardless of what the future holds for DayZ--it's already revolutionized the game industry. If nothing else, DayZ has created a new genre; there are who-knows-how-many FPS, strategy, simulation, RPG, etc., games out there and I am grateful to BI for giving us all another option. -
Good idea but how to implement this? I would think the servers might melt down. :D
-
I've killed one person in Dayz and that happened about 4 weeks into the game (back in February). That happened at Balota Airfield and he was the aggressor. Since then I have not felt the need to kill again; I still play as a friendly survivor.

Don't know if you're being ironic or coy but I'll answer that seriously. :D Mr. Blackout, in my opinion, is right up there with the likes of YouTube uploaders like FrankieonPCin1080p (If you haven't checked these guys out yet, you should, you might like them).

A question and could people please xplain something.
tarascon replied to elitachi's topic in New Player Discussion
When I first started playing I server hopped until it occurred to me that I was cheating myself of the true survival experience; half the fun of the game is gearing up--once you do that you can explore the map and meet other players (with various outcomes). As DayZ becomes filled with more content, there will be plenty of other things to do (I state the obvious, but you asked the question). The "feature" is not there to facilitate server hopping for gear, it's there so a player can simply, well... try different servers (for a variety of reasons). If foks want a better chance to get loot just join a low-population server. :) -
Ah! There we go! LOL Don't like where you've spawned, get yourself one of these handy items and forget jumping off the water tank.
-
For what purpose? How would that improve the game? Assuming it's even possible to assemble such an item the only case scenario I can see that being of any use would be to open a hole in a palisade fort... and even then it would be silly as you'd never get close enough. I don't KOS unless threatened. In your case I'd absolutely shoot you the moment I spot you. You obviously haven't thought this through.

I was rooting for Geoffrey (and wept when I thought he'd perished) up until the moment I realized that I'd met up with him before; he was the chap what stole me beans and split me head with selfsame fire-axe. Thereafter, I was cheering for the brunette. -
Not a know-it-all... OP asked a question, I responded.

Anyone else experiencing teleporting players in combat?
tarascon replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
In a word, yes. Makes me want to focus on overwatch. -
A good, honest post. I like that you're open about what you do and offer no justifications or excuses. You do what you feel you need to do... I also like that you leave fresh spawns alone. You're wrong about one thing though--DayZ is not an either/or proposition and there is indeed a middle ground. Two actually; you can also play as a hero or a survivor. Heroes save people and focus on eliminating KOSers & Bandits... a black & white world view. The other role is that of survivor and this is a gray area--as a survivor may avoid all contact with others and focus on looting/exploring or a survivor can adopt a policy of robbing players if the need arises (killing them is an option but not a necessity) and KOSing as a situational response to perceived threats (but not for sport). There are clans in-game which operate on any combination of the above. I belong to a clan which considers itself a survivor group. We tend to never rob people because--as a clan--we have the people to loot and gear up in numbers and do not need to kill randomly to do so. We try to communicate with others first but if threatened we do recognize the need to KOS in certain situations but never do so for the sheer "fun" of doing that. We leave bambis alone and try to help them if they need our help. We are not Heroes per se but we're also not Bandits. Eventually, when the ability to build gets implemented, we plan to create a base from which to operate. That is the long-term middle-way of DayZ.

OP, if you haven't yet done this, you might want to get Team Speak. That way you can communicate with your pals and organize a meeting point.
-
Your English is fine. I get your point but at the moment, besides looting/exploring or KOSing, there isn't all that much to do. Consider finding your friends a challenge--it will give your play a focus. And think of the satisfaction when you've lived long enough to actually find each other. :)

Is anyone tired of this game because of KOS?
tarascon replied to gotr1ght's topic in General Discussion
KOSers add a tension to the world atm because the undead aren't doing their job. The folks who summarily execute bambis are punks who: 1) Think DayZ is a FPS. 2) Lack imagination. 3) Suck at firefights with geared players. 4) Are incipient sociopaths. These are the probably the types who also enjoy torture. 5) Will flame the shit outta me for this post. The way the game stands right now, KOSing is a (semi) legitimate response by some players to the lack of goals which can come as a consequence of being geared up with nothing else to do. I just wish they'd try to ignore fresh spawns and target other geared players. I can live/die with that. And, as was mentioned above, even when DayZ offers more of a undead/survival challenge some KOSers are here to stay. And that's fine by me; it takes all kinds to populate the apocalypse.
