I snorted and spilled tea over my slippers and pajamas. :D -
I chuckled. :D My second tip: join me in my isolated deer stand.

How would that work in a mixed population server? There are one or two servers available that are PvE. Probably private, I don't recall. -
I'm curious... you say you have no voice. Is it your larynx? You don't have to answer me if that's too personal. :) I read this: http://www.nyee.edu/cfv-larynx-disorders.html

So I watched Brad's latest DayZ upload today and it seems he's actually going to do something in the game besides let his bodyguards babysit him. I mean this in a good way, not as a Brad dis. The gang has decided to announce their server and names and are set to take on all comers. Good for them. He still tends to let the two brothers tackle problems but I see this latest clip as an improvement... If there has to be a bounty out on him, at least he's taking it in a sporting manner. We'll see what develops. I might even start rooting for him now that he's beginning to take his DayZ fate into his own hands. *Gives beans to Brad*

Sanguine, could you tone it down a little bit? The shrill indignation and anger you're exuding obscures any valid point you're trying to make. Most likely, folks will just fixate on the insults. If folks think it's desync, or lag, or some hacker who's cheating everyone (including themselves), or, yes, the minions of Sauron which are to blame what is that to you? Everyone gets to have an opinion. K? If you can't be nice, be pleasant.

^ Yeah, I wouldn't want to fly a chopper 'cuz I read a manual on how to turn it on. Good point.

MissyX, you started a very important thread here. I read every post here. Obviously, it's about more than DayZ--it's about integrating the so-called "differently-abled" people into a space (virtual or RL) which most of us take for granted. And the amount of solid support you have gotten here is gratifying to see. I have nothing else to add to the suggestions already made but will say that, if I were or became a clan leader, I'd be happy to have you on board. It's obvious that you can hear and that your experience has probably honed your perception and awareness. You also sound pretty sharp. You may well be a natural sniper and that's a role for you in some clan. Even though I initially liked the concept of a server that favors people with various handicaps, I think the poster above (I forget which page) who was against the idea of creating a separate server meant well. He's right in that there's no call to further isolate or corral "normal" people with "un-normal" issues. You belong right here in Chenarus with the rest of the community. I wish you the best and please keep us posted.

OK. Good to know. I didn't think of anyone tracing the link. :)

Off topic... Just wanna say that I bought State of Decay about three days ago (for $10!!). It's a lot harder to survive in the game than I'd expected. I like it and play when I need to wind down the PTS I get from playing DayZ. That said, before any new "infected" types are implemented, I'm happy to wait for the devs to fix existing zombie (oops) bugs. I also read that the critters use a massive of memory... something like 40x the amount that anything else in-game uses. That's per critter.

^^ *tarascon returns beans with gratitude*

Thanks, man. Fascinating. And Fuck That Guy! Tweaker seems to be a lousy shot. LOL
-
Different sorts of zombies can be: 1) Recently dead who can still move fast and even run 2) Stale, stiff, slow ones 3) Shoegazers 4) Loners and herd zombies 5) Recently killed player avvys who rise and walk the earth (these could have loot)* * I don't mean the RL player runs as a zombie, just that their toons can be AI implementations.
-
Yes, I'm curious about that. I'd like to see that clip. Please post the link. Thanks.

^ Good points. Concerning your last line, I just wanna repeat what I mentioned above and that is any "upgrade" should be finite to prevent skill farming. Oh, and once critters are implemented, I think you can hunt and cook meat.

*Startled, looks over his shoulder.* WHO SAID THAT!!!? :D

Or perhaps Bohemia has sold DayZ SA to Sauron? *I sharpen my Vorpal Blade and, snicker-snack!, I enter the fray.*

You can't treat DayZ play like a FPS. There is no Save Game when you're in a tight spot or made a bad decision and find yourself on the losing side. Take your medicine, learn from it, and maybe reconsider consequences. Two words about Combat Logging... Punks Bounty ;)

Like the poster above me, I'm about 2 weeks old. I use DayZ DB & DayZ HQ maps. My first day was all about dieing ignobly in many ways until I read the tip that fresh spawns should get away from the coast asap and make their way inland. I did that and my entire 2nd and 3rd day was spent way up in the north looking for the NW airfield (like a typical noob). I was kitted with a fire-axe and a good amount of potables. No gun. No compass. I got lost up in the northern woodlands many times and found myself at the edge of the map more than once. I was using cloud drift and the sun as a guide but the clouds are tricky things. At one point I started running low on drinks and was starving when I dragged ass into Olsha and lucked into some food. Every time I stumbled across a town the local dead would chase me in packs and I'd totally lose my direction... When I finally blundered onto the NW airfield, I found it empty of people and killed a few zombies. I thought OH boy! I've got it made! and had visions of grand loot and gear. Nope. I was killed by a one hit wonder zombie and died. LOL. Since those fateful days, I've explored a lot and know the south and east coasts and, generally, some of the interior. I can recognize around four of the smaller towns by name and the larger towns by sight. I reckon I know about 5% of the map. Not great but better than zero... Until recently, I've run solo and stuck to the hinterlands. I managed, solo, to loot the NE airfield a few times (without server hopping) and am now helping a RL friend to do the same. Hopefully, I can guide him and we won't get ourselves killed too soon. It'll happen and that's OK. Everytime I die I've learned a little more to help me next time.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.S. Survival Guide [Complete] [Update on May 30th]
tarascon replied to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Dust's topic in New Player Discussion
Nice work. You obviously took a lot of time and effort to create this thread. No matter how you play in-game, you are a Hero. PS Random off-topic addition to all Stalkers. Has anyone read Roadside Picnic? It's the Russian novel that Tartovsky based his Stalker film on. And hence, the game. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roadside_Picnic http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0079944/ -
Gandalf? I'm guessing he just spawned and there might have been some desync or serious lag for you. With all due respect, I'm not sure if you're being ironic or serious about magic or running into a wizard. Interesting OP though.

I haven't really found a thread dealing solely with this topic. So, if any mods want to merge this thread with something similar it's fine by me. :) I know the DayZ Mod has a trader post in a hanger which seems to look like a no-fire zone. I saw that on one of Frankie's uploads. I think it'd be great to see something like that in the SA game. If being centrally located somewhere (not to mention spray painting signs around notifying players about a market place) is too tempting for robbers and their ilk, it might be cool to create a barter economy based on traveling traders. Food for ammo, ammo for gear, etc. A clan base which functions as a market perhaps? Thoughts?
-
I spent some time checking before I created this thread. Also, since this thread hasn't been merged yet I assumed there wasn't a topic about trade. Could you post the link?
-
Yes. That would be fine (and realistic).
