New System - Taking dump and fishing
Ag3nt Richt3r replied to spinear's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Just go take a real one, and find some poison ivy to wipe with while your at it. -1 Fishing/Picking apples in the orchards on the other hand would be another way of obtaining food. -
Six updater website needs to be changed.
Ag3nt Richt3r replied to Bungles's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I don't think the dev's here have direct control what the creator of Six Updater puts or allows on his page.... but yeah, DayZ just needs it's own installer. In the mean time, tell your friends to look before they click, it doesn't take a rocket surgeon to figure out those 'Download' buttons are advertisements/links to elsewhere. -
Less weapon spawn + no starter weapon = GG
Ag3nt Richt3r replied to herd's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I have been following this thread for a day or two and it just occured to me that it's lacking in something.... It's REALLY not that hard to find a gun guys n gals. You need to adjust your play style. This is not your everyday FPS, and it's not ArmA II CooP Domination. If anyone reads this and actually WANTS to learn how to play this game properly, or just needs help. Send me a PM, add me on Steam - FedEx Ninja. I have a TS3 server and would be glad to meet up with you later this evening and show you a thing or two about a thing or two. -
HIDE YO KIDS, HIDE YO WIFE! Don't worry, Rocket & Co. will find em!

I've never had any issues bypassing the wire traps with the VAULT function.

Can you imagine all the new player rage about being spawned in the woods without a compass and miles from any towns or loot? I think the current system for spawning in is fine. Just my opinion.

There is a key that allows you to 'step over fences'. I don't know the default key though... I use a DVORAK layout, not QWERTY and I rebind everything....

Zombies need a big fix. (ragarding run cycle and speed)
Ag3nt Richt3r replied to BloodFreak's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Here's my two cents. Zombies should run slower than players can sprint, but have higher endurance, and not get tired. They will either a.) lose site/interest in their quarry and give up the chase, or b.) over run the survivor as they get too tired to run any further. Players should sprint faster than zombies, but also run out of breath, get tired, or even be encumbered by the amount of gear they are carrying. (This would make the smaller backpacks more valuable in some scenarios.) I realize it would take some fine tunning to get the right balance. And I also believe there should be a 'regular' jogging speed that a player can move at for extended periods of time so we aren't spending hours going from one town to the next. As it stands now I can just spawn and run into Cherno, Balota, Electro, Berizno, etc., with a full zombie train in tow. Then run through a few buildings, barns, warehouses, and the like to lose them, then sneak into the buildings I know have the good loot. All without getting 'tired' or slowing down at all. I think it would change the dynamics of the game to add fatigue to the mix. To summarize: *Make the normal sprinting speed of the zombies slightly faster than the current running speed of the players. However, they should not be able to stop and take a swing and then warp speed run to catch up. Speed of the zombies need to be more fluid and less warpy. *Make the 'sprint' speed of the players faster than the fastest zombies. A player should be able to sprint for approx. 5 min or so and then get tired and move at a slower speed than normal while they catch their breath. *The current running/jogging speed can be left alone, and be a maintainable speed by the players for extended periods of time. However, this needs to be slower than what the zombies can achieve when they are chasing you. Once zombies stop warping/glitching around while chasing I think this will be a very fun and playable game mechanic. -
Hotfix Build 1.7.1.5 Rolling Update
Ag3nt Richt3r replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
I did, for about 45 min., and could not find a 'suitable' spot to place my tent. I've read the posts that state tent 'spamming' still works, but they definately are not working as they should be. -
Hotfix Build 1.7.1.5 Rolling Update
Ag3nt Richt3r replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
I missed out on 1.7.1.2 through .4 due to my work/life schedule. With that being said, I gave the latest build a shot last night and I was impressed! I love the direction that this mod is heading. Taking starting weapons away is brilliant. Yeah it's a challenge, but it makes the first hour after you spawn an extremely tense situation. Things seemed more stable on the few servers I played on last night as well. Now for the bugs I noticed. -The hatchet that I looted from 1.7.1.1 was gone. Was this intentional? It wasn't to long before a I was able to pick up another one though. (El Bandito, aka Brett, spawned in the air control tower of the NE Airbase, he shot my brother from another mother, but he was avenged ;])The rest of my inventory was fully intact from 1.7.1.1 -The Z's spawn mechanism still seems a bit off. My bro-in-law and I made a run into the NE Airstrip. We took 3 Z's down from a distance on the way in, only one agroed, because the shot took it in the shoulder not the head. Once he was down we were clear. We spent approx. 2 min in the first hanger picking up some loot, deciding what to leave behind, then military Z's started spawning out of thin air right in the middle of the hanger, a few more ran in from outside. We had been crouch running, but before the Z's spawned on us we heard nothing to hint that any were outside the hanger. Same thing happened in the air control tower approx. 10 min later. -Z's still glitching through walls. One ran full speed through the wall under the stairs in the air control tower in the NE Airstrip. Others were able to hit us through the wall. -Z's can one hit incap? Not sure if this is working as intended. I had 9k blood, Z "Bill" warped around a corner, while I was shooting Z "Ted" (who I had aggroed), and hit me once. I was knocked flat, unconcious, put in shock, and had broken bones. The Z's then ate my brains..... I did get my gear/loot back. Even if I hadn't though, this is not me crying about it. I'm just curious if this is working an intended. -Pushed off stairs by other player and broke my legs! This was a result of a lag spike from what I could see. I went down the stairs at the same time as my brother, but from my screen he had not moved yet. Then all of the sudden we were occupying the same space and I got pushed over the rail. Legs broken, took morphine, manned up, moved on. Features I'd like to see developed sometime down the road: -Radios! I haven't found a radio yet,... but make them useful. Add a 'Radio' side channel that can be used to communicate with other 'survivors'. It would be awesome if we could change the frequency on the radios to be able to communicate with others on the same frequency. This would allow bandits and survivors alike a way of communicating or eavesdropping without the use of the global side channel. -Tents! I know they are still a WIP. But the tent I'm carrying is burning a hole in my pocket! I want to be able to camp in the freakin woods! -Hunting Knife. Eventually I would like the option to actually stab someone in the back.... -More enterable buildings! I know this is a limitation from the map being recycled from ArmA II. Maybe someday we can get a new & original map to explore? Thanks for all your hard work Rocket & Co.!!! -
I love it!! On US 26, I ran into several players who recently respawned and were trying to make it to a town for supplies. (To the player named Jordan, if you read this send me a PM, I owe you some loot.) I ran around with just my 'torch' for 30 minutes, then found a crossbow. Feeling a bit ballsy with my new weapon, I decide to head for Balota. On my way found a dead survivor who was loaded with an AKM, 4 mags, and 2 frags! I'm not sure how he died with that much loot, and right outside a barn too. I still went to Balota to see what else I could scrounge up, found another dead player, relieved him of his Czech pack, map, compass, binocs, etc., and AKM mags. I did manage to see someone else running around the air field, we announced ourselves as friendly and moved on. So far the few players I have run into have been 'friendlier'. Is this just my luck, or has anyone else seen the same?

20 words or less: Super-Low Humanity Detection
Ag3nt Richt3r replied to rocket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
YES! But make their clothes grimey, bloody, hands dirty, ugly yellow teeth, etc. as well. I liked a previous posters idea for different character animations/behaviors for lower humanity too. -
20 words or less: Spawning without a weapon
Ag3nt Richt3r replied to rocket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
YES But not on regular servers. New players need a chance to get their 'feet wet'. When somebody wants a real challenge they can go to the veteran servers and start with no gear.
