Do different clothes affect body temperature in different ways? I mean a coat will be warmer then a shirt or they're all the same as of now? Do we have some reference on this?
-
Uhm i've had some melee with another player today. I fear my hit issues may be strongly related to lag and/or desync, like if i'm hitting something on spot - but it's not actually there anymore. Or his AI was broken ;)

Confused about how new features are pushed to stable for testing.
brazorf posted a topic in General Discussion
I'm that kind of player that pve, the forest, the lonely wolf, and blah blah. So, when i've firstly heard about cooking, hunting, fishing and the such i was very excited about it. Unfortunately ive never tried most of them, because animals are few, getting a fishing pole is a damn quest, cooking also needs a fair amount of stuff, and so on. Or the damn bow: get the long wood, get ropes, go find a damn chicken for feathers, get a blade for sharpening sticks. How can we have a mass-test if items are so rare? Why not to boost a feature for a certain amount of time so it can be tested by anyone? I mean, you introduce animals? Spawn the damn beast to common locations Introduce cooking? Spawn somehow cooking sets (pot, gas, etc) I just don't undestand why. Keep them there for the time of the stable release, then switch back to normal spawn. -

Maybe i'am, but maybe that's because i'm playing an alpha release, where the 2 aspects may often overlap. They already know lots of things, anyway there's 600+ community issues on the bug tracker. -

Well yes and no. As a developer myself i can tell you that some guy that's *inside* the development team will never find all the issues. Of course, just to use your example, we can be sure enough that plain fish-catch fish-eat procedure will work fine, but there may be side effects due to different users trying it with different approach and mindset. Look at this for example (there's plenty of examples in there): http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=8044 We know that lie down works, that 3pp camera works, that looking around works. However people suffer from death when performing these actions. Funny, isn't it? For the last part, well... if i'd just like to *try* one feature, i would search for a pole, a rope, a bait, a pond, and have my fishing time without opening any thread. Here we are saying the same thing apparently. -

This is exactly my point. Maybe he'd tried if it was a "free" attempt: we usually test only what we need. From this point of view, we don't need animals, cooked food, fishing poles, and so on. -
This, and other info above, are what i'm searching for. There should be something that make clothes comparable in terms of warmth. Do we have access to any comparison table or should we infer data from our experience?

Testing it's still a prerogative in an alpha release though. What i'm saying would make it easier, also for paying customers (as i am). Im sure that also some 100k testers -outside the developement team- would provide much appreciate feedback, as they're (we're) doing already in big numbers on the bug tracker. -

Just to be more specific. Take for example animals (released on 46? 47? cant remember). Keep 100 of them but spawn them near the player-spawn spots, so every fresh spawned player can play around with them. Then, next release, reconfigure spawn to points to their proper location. -

Just to be sure i got you right, are you stating that user testing is not necessary? -

Well, i don't think they are "too hard", but they are not a priority in my gaming session because they are usually very time consuming. So, should we've found an assembled fishing pole when fishing was released (this is just an example), most people would have tested it more easily, and massively. Thats what they're doing now with thermometers for example, as thery're very common and people can easily try and report issues. -
Any updates on this now? I mean painkillers, vitamins, and so on useful to some purpose?
-
Thanks for your tutorial. Should be pinned somewhere

I used to, until 0.49 made his coming.

How many features can we refer to as "placeholders"?
brazorf replied to c00lface's topic in General Discussion
Just to keep it shorter How many features can we refer to as finished? -
Start here This should be pretty much cheap nowdays. Pay attention to your gpu, i'm running dayz with a gt520 and i actually have 10-15 fps. Little crappy, but still playable.

So i've managed to craft this bow, and i've got composite arrows. I equip the bow, drag the arrow and select "load arrows", but nothing happens. What's wrong?
-
Ehm The arrow stack was ruined and i didn't realize. After sorting out good arrows, it worked. Sorry bout this
-
Uhm no sound nor anything. Tried to shot but all i've seen was an empty bow string :(

I feel like the current feed system balance works exactly the reverse way it would in a real situation. That's why, as explained in this excellent series of video http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/159251-merinos-in-depth-video-guides-feb-11th-updated-to-034115106-new-status-indicators-rebalancing-of-hunger-thirst-stomach-blood-and-health-reg/, we use to eat any food (and drink water aswell) we find along instead of storing for later usage. So we are survivors that won't carry or care for food, and who's carrying some in his inventory is either full-stomach or a fool. Not to mention the huge quantity of cans you find everywhere. I've thought about this since weeks, but yesterday was the top: i was carrying about 5-6 can of food because "i felt really full", and i quickly ate some whenever the well-fed status went away, in order to save space in my backpack and not waste food. This is a weird behaviour lol. What you guys think about this?
-
I'm not talking about food spawn.
-
Dayz downloaded a 18mb update yesterday, but i couldn't find any info. What it was about?
-
No, you're right, there's no need to do this - though it's the most optimized use of the food you find along the way. If you eat until you're stuffed, you're not wasting food while keeping your char at maximum levels. Just talking theoretically eh, not that wasting food *in game* is any kind of a problem. -- I'm sorry for using that word - fool - i didn't mean to be offensive by any means. I've never said i'm not carrying extra items and this is OT, i'm saying that i don't *need* to carry extra food and the recommended way of handling with it, is eat as much as you can. That i think could be improved, that's all. About the OT, well, i was used to carry extra items of any sort - this never saved my life, apart from extra splint for broken legs, and i still carry as many as i can. Extra items never saved me because i've only died because of kos, or zombie hit, thats the only way you can die as of today. Oh, well, you can also fall from roofs, but i doubt that an extra can of beans would help there. About your challenge, what sense does it make lol? You're right if you use to stay out of town for hours and hours, but then i challenge you not to get bored after 1h. This actually is the way i'd like to play dayz, but it's boring in the current developement stage.
