  1. It all depends - I think the "GM / senario server" could still be on the cloud but have a different identification, so the cloud would recognize it as being "different" yet still retain the global settings of the DayZ world - it isn't all that hard to do.
  2. I have played a few large population servers, and love the element - but I wanted something different just to change the pace up. I find it a little more creepy being on a server with 1-5 people (on hardcore of course), like the zombie apocalypse has consumed most of mankind. I have explored deep into the north and have made my way across much of the map. Once I saw a player running in the distance being chased by a couple zombies and decided to move on because they seemed equipped enough to handle himself... but even if they were not, I would have most likely moved on anyway because of trust issues. I haven't visited every city, the map is huge. While this is just a game, the feeling of being nearly all alone and looking over your shoulders for creeping zombies gets pretty intense. Sure, it can get boring at times - running to every town, city, air base in an exploration mission, but wouldn't it get boring IRL also? The fear factor is always there though. There are only a few people on the server, so you never really know who is watching you - or where anyone is. It is a completely different game than playing on high traffic servers. Sure, it might be a little easier, but I think with future updates a lot of issues will be fixed to insure great game play takes place on both populated servers and low player count servers. Now, if they could only fix the zombies walking through everything issue (so we can find shelter and heal up) it would be great.
  3. Night time brings a completely new dynamic to the game, and I have to say - I think it reflects how well a player actually plays. If a person is just going to stick to daytime servers they are missing a lot of other aspects of tactics etc. I do play daytime servers, but I have also logged a few hours at night.
  4. PJSlease and Odin Lowe, It does change up the pace, and even keeps you on edge every time you hear a Z - because you know there is a lot more than one coming at you usually (on hardcore). Once I was going through Elektro and someone was shooting at me, they got me but didn't kill me and luckily I was able to evade them long enough to bandage up and then run like hell. I hid out for quite some time in the forest to make sure I wasn't being stalked. There were only 3 people on that server, and yes - Elektro is hot with activity, as are the Military bases. Best to make sure to scout the area before even attempting to loot, even in the lower populated servers.
  5. So there I was, running along the main road heading to Chernogorsk. My character in game relishing the fact that on his travels he had found food, water an axe, a screwdriver and a nice pristine shotgun with no ammo. He also was dawning his motorcycle helmet like a true zombie apocalypse survivor. I checked behind me, knowing that the roads were not a good place to be and noticed a newly spawned player trying to catch up to me. I waited. In secondary chat he said, "Hello," and naturally I said hello back to him. "Anything you can spare?" he asked. I felt a little bad, "I can give you this screwdriver and a can of beans," I said looking in my inventory. I generously gave him those items. "Thanks!" he replied (most likely with an evil smirk) Not a second later I was being stabbed in the face with my screwdriver. I quickly smashed the "esc" button on my keyboard and armed my axe while trying to back up. He came at me again and got an axe to the skull. I looted him, the beans were ruined but my screwdriver survived. When these veterans tell you to stay off the road, stay off the f'ing road. When these vets tell you not to trust anyone (if playing alone) - steer clear of anyone/everyone. I seriously love this game. It has so much potential. Listen to the vets people.
  6. This is the thing about "/" side chat - it is a trick to get the player to be in a "typed" session. Lots of people don't know how to get out of it. You have to "esc" (or was it "~"?) to get out of that while they are stabbing you in the face ;) I have all my weapons on my hot bar, axe is always "1" - so I smashed "esc" (or ~) to get out of side chat and pressed "1" while backing away from his attack and axed him. I don't want to be a KOS player, I stay away from people because I like playing solo. Eventually when all of my skills are honed I am going to get a few friends to team up with.
