some say run east and you will get to the real map. however that never works for me. I kill myself it is faster - press esc, click repsawn, abort, disconnect then ok If I got all the buttons correctly you should be dead and rejoining the game.

The learning curve on this game is tough. Hell I learn just last night I could throw a can/bottle to get the Zed in a building to leave. Now I learn that I should just run like hell and cut thru a large build to loot buildings in peace. well at least for now

I just deal and try to avoid as many survivors as possible. I have only been killed a few time by players and had one shoot out. it was all good. I do not shoot on site you have to do something hostile toward me and my group before I pull the trigger. -

We should keep a global chat at least through alpha so we can report issues like the melee crashing servers ect... Overall I can do without a global chat of anykind -

[/quote'] OK let me understand this. in 3 min you were kill by a sniper and if you would have had a pistol with at least 2 mags the sniper would not have killed you? humm every time I am sniped I never see the player that got me so having a gun does not seem to matter. So not having a pistol is only an issue if I get chased by a zombie or three. To avoid getting sniped I run away from the coast as soon as I log in -
Last night been playing upgraded to 1.7.1.2 server kept crashing so I logged for the night. no biggie. To day I log in on another server and all my equipment changed. I left with a Winchester 3 extra "clips", 3 tin cans, compass, pain killers. I return I have a markerov pistol 2 clips, can of pepsi, binocs, watch, map and compass. Note only things in my active inventory was effective. Kinda weird so I logged to wait for the next hotfix. wonder what will happen to my stuff tonight.

Hang in the Macterror. There is a learning curve. Do not let others killing you jade you in game. I mean I dont mind so much getting killed for my gear at least there some justification but getting snipe from far off just to be killed makes me sigh. Best of all have fun whatever your fun is. here are my 2 tips 1. If you are in first person you can turn off head bobbing in game options. That way you don't get sick seeing your screen go back and forth when you are First Person, prone and moving. 2. use you mouse look as you move. As you are moving, with W for example, hold down your left alt (might work with right alt but I have never tried) and move the mouse left and right to look left and right. (this is with default keybindings). This is a great way to keep your head on a swivel while traveling.

@OP Good post. I too find scouting and surviving fun. It is when I go to help my friends I end up dead. I want to survive and only kill as last resort. I have found that calling out "friend" means "shoot me please" to the other players. However, I will not let this make me jaded about other players. I will always try to co-op even though I get killed more times then I ever found a friend. Having fun thought Thanks for the post -

They created melee weapons easily. Just make a Ranged weapon with unlimited ammo that has a really really short range. -

The damage indicators have been known to fail sometimes. On a server reset, you would probably see that WHL would be red. What you experienced is definitely the result of a busted tire. good to know thanks

Nah you do it Duke Nuke em style. Melee weapons are ranged weapons with a really short range. Sure it is cheesy but it works. -

In the last 2 hours I played I logged what I could loot. the top 4 were car wheels , wire, matched and watches. Took me an hour to find my first gun not sure if it is a loot spawn issue or if the area was picked clean by other players. Oh I did find a bike and 2 atvs but no food yet. -

Notice that over 2/3 of teh buildings I tried to enter had at least 1 zed in them if not more. I went to on that had 6. all just standing around waiting for the fool to enter them. Not sure of this being good or bad but it is making it hard when you have no weapons. On the other hand I found a bike and an atv. Still no food or water after an hour of play. mostly due to Zeds all being in the building. and my having no gun. Just a FYI -
Some many message to read. Not sure if this one was reported and not sure even how to search for it. I make my way in a house and find a gun with ammo (for the record took 23 mins 37sec to find this gun). anyhow. I choose the option pick up makerov pistol option instead of gear while I was prone. So my char drops my heat pack and shotgun shells throw a smoke grenade the picks up the gun. That option should read do random shit instead of pick up gun. needless to say that alerted the Zeds Wierd thing though I had to kill this one Zed 3 times. he kept getting back up over and over and I kept getting kill counts for him. other than this bug I metnioned here, Zombie super spidey sense. it is not that bad but I need a iron pipe.

Although you have not played I fell you have hit this nail on the head. I watch over and over last night poor souls that had Zombies spot them as I watch. They took off running and once the stood up the entire town empty. I laughed as I watch my fiend get spotted by a zombie that I would have been hard press to hit with a scoped rifle. the zombie LOS need tweeking to say the least. then we can judge what need to be done after that.
