    Death.

So that's like a pic or 2 thanks to spawn site campers?? LOL, seriously tho, that's not bad. Maybe 1 every hour or so instead, some people will live a looooong time and that would be one long ass slideshow. I'm digging the map idea too, see what kind of crazy trail you made.
  2. I like this idea too! I'd like there to be something to encourage you to explore the map, be it searching for clues about the history of the events that led to the apocalypse or collectables and the like. Not a full history of every single thing as such, but enough that you can form a few good ideas about what went down. I feel that the people who suggest base building fail to see that it will restrict how far you will travel and turn your game into doing chores to keep your base running. Anything that keeps people moving and collecting is what will keep the risk high.

This is the best type of Log Off Timer

I did search and yes I got a ton of haters talking about KoSers and desync stuff. I didn't find any suggestions quite like this one so I thought I'd put it up. How would you exploit this method in such a bad way? It forces you to fight if things go bad for you and protects you from being being killed while not in game. Also, hello fellow NZer :)
  4. I had a search and couldn't find anyone mentioning this so here's my suggestion. How about DayZ uses a clever idea used in EVE Online: The Safe Log option. If you use the safe log off button, you see a 30 second timer onscreen counting down. You stay in game and are able to move, but not use anything. At any point during the countdown, if there is any interaction with your character by anyone (being shot at, you use items etc.) the timer is cancelled and must be started again. Once the timer runs out, your character disappears and is safe. Of course, you can just straight log out and your character sits there for the 30 seconds and possibly gets shot, axed or pants stolen, but the option is there anyway. I like this because it stops combat loggers and forces you to deal with your situation even if things aren't going your way. This would be great for a game like this because it is higher risk, it can take a very long time to build up your resources and weapons so knowing your gear is safe once you log off is important.
