    Best. Posting. Ever.

RIP DayZ - Yogcast started a LP

If you cant laugh about a video like this you shouldn't really be playing ANY kind of game that involves other ppl... ever. :s

    Longest time you've stayed alive?

About a week or so. But can hardly remember, that was long before everyone started shooting on sight.. ;) These dayZ I usually last 12-24h or so on average. Could be our play-style of course... but honestly I dont really care enough to track it.

How many murders to officially become a bandit?

None. All it takes these dayZ is finding a weapon. Any weapon. ;)

    No competent player should die

And no respect or credit for self proclaimed hardcore snipers and wannabe elitist campers either. Nothing to see here, move along. Next topic.

Bla, bla, wuff, wuff! Not everyone can be as competent and hardcore as you are and those will die, deal with it.

How the player-built base worked out.

Awesome. Would really like to see dayz support something like that instead of nullifying it because of server hopping and multi-server approach vectors. Got any video footage?

    Is it Exploiting When?

None of the things you listed I would call an exploit. The only thing I would clearly consider an "exploit" is intentionally duplicating items on a large scale. That said, unfortunately there are plenty of times this may indeed happen unintentionally. Well, at first. You know, Alpha and all. Buggy as hell. All other stuff or some arbitrary rules posted somewhere because it annoys someone/is bad/not implemented yet or not "intended" - water under the bridge. Bring the mod to a reasonable beta stage first and maybe then we could start talking about exploits and "rules" and maybe I would even give a crap. ;)
  9. Basically this mod is now reduced to your average arcade shooter: get better gear, kill anything you see. Not judging or anything, at times I like and play those type of games, too. However ppl need to know and expect this, too - a lot of them still have the "early" more cooperative dayZ in mind when they hear about it or watch some older video footage. But these times are no more and any attempts to still talk it in now is just a big fat lie. Of course a lot of them are disappointed if they find out that random teamwork went out the window together with the bandit skin. Sure, you can still have your teamwork and all the nice stuff but not with the "default" game setup - you need your trusted crew, you need an external voice com of sorts and then you can have a shit load of fun in dayZ if you like to play DM style games. I have. But honestly, without my crew I would not be playing it anymore; for the random casual player there's pretty much nothing else left than becoming a camping bandit himself. Not everybody wants or can play this way, that's cool. And if you can and like it that certainly does not make you a sociopath or any more "hardcore" either. It's only a video game. No, scratch that, it's only a alpha version of... of... well.. no one really knows of what exactly. But anything it might be now can change any time...
  10. Removal of the skin was the worst thing that could happen for the "nice" player. Removal of the skin was the best thing that could happen for the "evil" player. Take your pick. Back in the day I shot every bandit skin on sight, without thinking twice. Now I shoot everyone wielding any kind of weapon, without thinking twice. Take your pick.

    DCing from snipers, snipers complaining.

I play for my enjoyment and entertainment. And I stop playing when I decide to. No one decides that for me... not some sniper who wants the killshot, not some backstabber enjoying killing defenseless ppl and no big head local server admin who thinks I might DC too "soon". If I know a char is "done" (which usually means got hit by a sniper, being attacked by someone without having a weapon to fight back, falling unconscious, cornered by dozens of Z, etc) I usually DC to start over again later. This one session is over/lost - I get no enjoyment out of staying connected for a few more seconds/minutes watching my char dying fast or slowly to satisfy others. I play for my enjoyment and my entertainment only. Frankly speaking I dont give a rat's ass if that lost char stays around long enough for someone to loot it or get credit for the kill or whatever - you want it, ok, fine, then patch it into the mod. I certainly will not do that for you. And even if something like a timeout will get implemented some day I still will DC and end my game session whenever I please.
  12. Actually BIS is hosting the beta's on a FTP server and there are only so many simultaneous anonymous connections (i.e. without proper login/password) allowed. If that limit is exceeded more slots are only available for... well... the BIS guys themselves with proper credentials. Wait 30 minutes or so, then try again.
  13. Until there is a "fix" to the server hopping approach vector ppl use any sort of new (and old) area denial crap is just that... useless crap.

    How to run automatically

So cute and shiny... Ok, that's it, now I want it. Drop it right now or I killZ u!

    How to run automatically

Ok, I gotta ask... what is this item you're using to hold down the key?
  16. JohnSmith (DayZ)

    Description.ext ?

Its a per-mission option. Said file lives "inside" a mission pbo.

So.. being a server admin can get interesting.

You can never know with what dayZ comes up next...

So.. being a server admin can get interesting.

Given the average survival rate dayZ always needs new players. Those dont grow on trees you see...:heart::shy:

    Thx for the Malware

I have exactly one malware after downloading six updater... ;) Unfortunately there are not really many alternatives out there if you want something to handle your all your Arma (and not only dayz) mods. But seriously, Six does not install real malware.
  20. Actually no. If I'd had a gun from the start I probably would have moved in the usual careful and slow way from the start - and possibly steal your gun/equipment on the way, too, if you'd happen to spawn in the same area. And I could have never made it that far up north so fast... Not saying that I really want/need a starting gun back - or even any kind of weapon. But impersonating road runner shouldn't really be an acceptable alternative either.
  21. But I guess he's right to some point. I did the same with my last respawn... just ran off like road runner checking places I know usually have good loot. With a huge train of Zs behind me. Got decent equipment pretty fast, lost them Zs all easy in town running through and around a few houses. Not fired a single shot. Finally started to move a lot more carefully up north - and was sniped climbing a deerstand near Pogorevka by some doofus apparently camping there. Shit happens. Still, something's off with the latest patch. Just doesnt... feel right. Cant say. Something's missing.
