  5. Which makes this even more annoying. Unfortunately in Arma 2 usually no one gives a crap. About cheaters/hackers/exploiters I mean. Over there you only loose an hour or so playing time at the most if some hacker comes on and nukes a server. No biggie. Ban him or even his whole subnet if necessary, restart meshun and we are good to go again as if it never happened. And BIS had no real reason to really care much about security holes either...

    Most depressing: dying to hackers and exploiters. Not because I was too stupid or the other guy was simply better. Because I never even had the slightest chance in the first place. I know, I know, water under the bridge, and that scum mostly want to read/hear exactly that but unfortunately it is the truth. For me at least. With everything else I can deal. But not with that.

    There is no easy solution for ppl "sleeping" in a house. If you happen to be there if they log in its just bad luck. Plain and simple and I do not really consider this a problem either because really, what are the chances? Maybe something a little more common in extremely popular places like airfield hanger but thats to be expected. What needs to go is that you can do and time that perfectly on purpose; read "stalking" and then ambushing someone using a different server on your way. An relative easy solution would be to make sure that ppl last seen on a different server will NEVER spawn in exact the same spot they left. In such a case place them randomly within the general area they left from. (like 1km radius or so).

    +1 Or introduce a replacement melee weapon instead of the hatchet. Baseball bat. Broken fencing post. Big tree branch. Maybe the flashlight as a weaker hitting halve-sized crowbar. Anything.

    No. You bought Arma 2 OA. Period. You did not "buy" dayz, that one you are getting for free in exchange for your testing it with all its quirks and alpha state and whatnot. Fun could still be part of the mix. Sometimes. Not always. But you certainly can not demand "anything" from dayz itself...

    IF this was an actual game...

    One-time only. Or - if this were to become a monthly fee based game - I would certainly expect highly professional run servers with enough capacity for everyone to connect and play lag free anytime they want to. And I dont mean only the central database server... this for sure would have to include gaming servers relatively close to my location (at least same continent). All servers administrated by the company who gets the monthly cash - certainly not by some random dudes kind enough to donate hosting who can decide to turn a server off anytime, alter settings at will, introduce arbitrary rules to their personal liking and all the other nice stuff.

    100m seeing Zombie... that's nothing - maybe you should try playing a regular Arma session (well you bought this game anyway, didnt you?) while Rocket fixes stuff. Then come back crying after full powered AI enemy soldiers have spotted and sniped you with their crappy AK from 500+m out. Professional zombies (both AI and players) are simply not hardcore enough... ;) The only things that do need fixing are the see-through-wall and attack-through-wall issues. Have to say, those are really not cool.

    Almost there. Replace backbag with vest pouch. Give 1x watch. Give 1x bandage. Give 1x flashlight. Give 1x random food. Give 1x empty water canteen OR 1x random canned drink. Add a non-lethal melee move (knock unconscious for a few seconds, breaks aggression/LOS if used against zombie).

    Hilarious! But you should not have posted this. Will undoubtedly be "hot-fixed" out now shortly... then reverted. Then fixed again. And after that maybe Mr. zombie will get a chainsaw or something to properly deal with such situations. Wait. What was the topic again?

    At least that one is not entirely Rocket's fault. While there are various female models available in Arma all of those are severely limited in functionality. E.g. they can not wield weapons of any kind. Or even drive all vehicles because at the time Arma was created BE deemed it unnecessary and was lazy and didnt include animations for that. This means Rocket cant just simply reuse some stock Arma female soldier models (or in this case PMC models) but has to create the whole model from scratch first - which is a shit load of extra work actually. Be glad that he at least made one female model for dayz - and some day switching to it will hopefully work... ;)

Ingredients: * empty tin can or whiskey bottle. * dirt (as in not being inside buildings, on paved roads, etc) Create weapon: * right-click empty tin can in inventory to fill with dirt. * gives you a throw-able "weaponized" tin can. Handling: * Same as flares/grenades: throw at target. Effect: * First hit on zombie: silent death for zombie. * First hit on player: knocks player down for 5-10s. * Second hit on player while he is down: kills player. Alternate "second hit" possibility: * Run close to downed player and choke him to death (action menu entry). * Downed player has a random possibility to break free from choking depending on his condition (blood level, hunger, thirst). Maybe something like 50% if at full strength. Other: * Thrown tin can be recovered after use like a crossbow bolt. * Thrown whiskey bottle breaks and is lost. Pros: * Not necessarily lethal close range silent weapon with high value early after a respawn. * Later in game can be used as a means of "warning" or scaring away other player without the need to shoot/hurt/kill. * Not as easy as it looks to actually hit someone. * No new animations needed (throwing, laying down, kneeling for choking someone). Cons: * May cause additional lag due to unrecovered thrown tin cans. May need a cleanup routine for that.

    As of this time you are not allowed to ban someone because he DCs on you during a fight and/or establish some arbitrary rules local to your server "until Rocket can offer a solution". If he says so this may change. Has not happened yet. Yes' date=' this has been classified as an exploit. No, you are still not allowed to local ban for it. You may only for ban for: RuleZ are RuleZ and you agreed to them to be allowed to host dayz. Dont like ehm? Stop hosting and ty for the time your servers have been running. Someone please blacklist Chicago 21 and 22 for violating dayz hosting rules, ty. Proof: this very own thread created by the server admin himself.

    "Illegal copies may degrade" is actually the default message that is shown if ANYONE connected to a server is using a cracked Arma. If you see it in a multi-player environment it is misleading and doesn't necessarily reference yourself in particular. But someone on the server was using an illegal copy for sure. Smart move actually. Nothing to ban. Sure, FADE will do its thing and make it impossible to aim and shoot straight and stuff with illegal copies. But a hacker doesn't need to shoot to run his scripts and ruin everyone's session, does he?

    IMPORTANT: Central Server was Dropped

    Great news! Wondering however.. why did you go through so much work? Collect hacker data, ban hackers, wipe all vehicles/tents, kill everyone and let all start fresh. Appreciate the effort and everything to let ppl keep some "legally" collected assets - I only hope there wont be any negative side effects emerging from this when you only say "loose/drop your illegal weapons or else". Someone might still unknowingly pick up such items. I mean this being alpha mod and all - complete wipes every now and then (especially after a major hacking wave) should be totally ok, too.
