Rocket standing down from Dayz by end of year
finnpalm replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
He didn't say that. He said it will never be the multiplayer experience he wants to make. Basically what he means by that is that the game is flawed when it comes to his personal standards. The game as a concept is not flawed. -

You say that even though it's clear that he's not leaving until about when DayZ go beta. -

I see you edited out the " Its just a video game not a prison sentence" part of your post. Because you sure don't act like it's "just a game", so I guess that was a smart move. -
Is it too much to ask for smooth controls?
finnpalm replied to infiltrator's topic in General Discussion
Are you referring to the fact that at steep angles you start walking? Because have you tried running up a really steep incline with a backpack and a rifle in your hands? No, I don't think, or know, if they made the controls as they are to be more realistic. I just think they are. I never disagreed with animations and weapon switching (although bringing your rifle from your back into a ready position does take a couple of seconds, which is why you carry it in your hands against your chest if you expect a hostile encounter. Different levels of readiness). However, if you have your gun up and you're aiming along the sights and you turn, the gun will sway a bit from it's own weight. This is the reason you try to avoid turning more than only a few degrees with your gun up, and if you need to make a larger turn like 90 degrees or so, you lower your weapon to get it's weight closer to your center, then turn and raise your gun in one fluid motion. See my point above about how to move with a weapon in a ready position. -

Exactly. And that's completely different. -

He never said that. I dare you to present me with a link to where you quoted that from, word for word. -

You do understand that his videos are edited to tell an interesting story, right? Stuff that he deems uninteresting or disrupting to the story get cut out. There's clearly quite a lot that you don't see happening in the videos, like him dying for example. Consider him playing for 12 - 24 hours and editing that together to 30 - 45 minutes of video. ---------------------------------- A couple of thoughts about Dean Hall leaving: It's amazing to see how many people think it's news that he's leaving, even though he's hinted at it for a long time. It's equally amazing to see how many people fail to understand that he's not leaving now, but at the earliest in about ten months time. All those who think all the money paid for the standalone goes straight into Dean's pockets are just plain wrong. He probably get's a pretty good pay, but it's not even close to "all the money". In closing, what I'm most interested in is, who will take over as project lead? I'm saving my goodbyes until Dean actually leaves. -
Is it too much to ask for smooth controls?

Why should I play Arma 3? I was referring to the clunkiness of the controls being realistic compared to the controls of games like bf and cod. Yes, exhale and then hold, pull trigger, continue exhale. If you're breathing while pulling the trigger you're less accurate. Doesn't the "fucking control scheme" aim to be realistic? Or are you saying you'd prefer a less realistic game? It's fine if you do. Not putting any value into that. Personally I like the realism of the controls. -

You don't have military training I take it. Taking a breath and releasing about a third of the air in your lungs then holding your breath is pretty crucial if you're taking an aimed shot at something. Moving with a weapon in hand isn't like in bf and cod. An assault rifle is fairly heavy and moving and shooting is difficult. In my opinion the controls are a lot more realistic than in other games. And that includes being somewhat clunky. Get used to them. -
You make a left-handed option in the character development menu.
finnpalm replied to Johnny Depth's topic in General Discussion
Modern rifles are made to allow for left-handed shooting no matter if you're left-handed or not, and military actually teach soldiers to shoot both ways (new recruits learn to shoot with their main hand at first, but higher military training usually involves learning to shoot with either side). This would be a sweet addition to the game. Casings and brass shrapnel hitting your face is prevented using shooting glasses. -
You rang? :)

Things you want to see in SA updates first.
finnpalm replied to ZlobaRUS54's topic in General Discussion
1. Not being able to pass through a door. It can currently be solved by vaulting through the door opening, but sometimes you just don't have the time to do that. 2. Zombies glitching through walls and floors. 3. Enable turning off auto-acceleration. 4. Combat logging. I read that your toon stays in the game for another 30 seconds after you log now, but that's impossible to tell when looking at someone. So basically if I try to hold up a person and talk to them they can still easily combat log without me knowing until they disappear. In my opinion, prioritize fixing bugs before adding more content. The atmosphere and gameplay now is nice already. Keep up the good work. -
Hey folks. I call myself Strawman, but I prefer to not get into an argument. Got the standalone a couple of days back even though my gaming rig is broken, but I still wanted to support the development of the game. Realized that my laptop could run it "just about" on lowest settings, so have been testing it out a little there and in a cybercafé. Part-time soldier, studying System Sciences at the uni, and I like games that test my patience. I also like zombies and survival so I have high hopes for this game. Playing as a healthily paranoid good guy. If you're a fresh spawn I might help you and if you're kitted I will most likely avoid you. I dislike people who shoot on sight, but I can respect if they choose to (role-)play as a psychopath killer or do it for survival. However, if you get enjoyment from ruining things for others you're a sociopath, and I feel sad for those who waste ammo on fresh spawns just to troll. If you're that bored then this probably isn't a game for you.
