What kind of food recipes do you want in DayZ

You do know that you will still have to eat irl too, right?
  2. I thought I'd point that out for those not living in a GMT timezone, so they didn't have to go through the hassle of googling for a time zone converter. Yeah, I'm a helpful person like that.
  3. Having a long beard is hampering in such conditions as this game tries to simulate. I have pretty quick beard growth (once grew it to about 21-22 cm in a year and a half) and I usually keep my beard trimmed short or shave it off completely. The work needed to keep a beard is pretty big. I'm for beards in the game, but keep them short.
  4. Yeah I read somewhere that it was starting at 5 pm GMT, which is 2 h 9 m from the time of me posting this.
  5. Does anyone know if different hair colour is confirmed in character creation? Choices of black, reddish brown, straw and grey would be enough.
  6. In Europe there is more than one country, and in many of them pants are not tucked into the boots. Be more specific please.
  7. Instead of having the epinephrine set your shock value to zero, only allowing it to be used after going unconscious, how about having it give you a bonus to your blood value so that it takes longer for you to go unconscious? This way the old use would still be there, since instead of lowering the shock value to regain consciousness you raise your blood value (obviously it needs to be raised enough to go over your shock value). Also you would have the added use of being able to inject epinephrine before going into a combat situation, sort of like a combat drug. Most likely using it in the last way would bring a higher risk of having cardiac arrest as an adverse effect, since adrenaline affects your heart in various ways. Please comment. ps. Since epinephrine is also used to treat cardiac arrest I hope that you add that function to the game too, now that we'll be getting heart attacks as well. :)
  8. 1: Make pliers able to cut open wire fences. Irl what you basically do when creating an opening in a wire fence is cut along a vertical line and then pull the fence apart like curtains, this would work such in-game that a section of undamaged wire fence is replaced with a section of cut open fence. 2: Add rolls of metal wire as loot. These can be used to mend broken fence. Irl this works such that you pull the broken fence together and "sew" it together with the metal wire. In game this action replaces a section of broken fence with a section of undamaged fence. Metal wire can later be given additional uses as desired. 3: Add simple pad locks and keys, and/or combination pad locks. These would work similar to hand cuffs but are used to keep gates shut. They can be broken open by hitting them with some of the melee weapons (axe, crowbar, pipe wrench) or shooting them with a firearm. And voila you have basic base building. Imagine finding a compound encircled by wire fencing and a gate, with a house inside. You and your mates get to work gathering the supplies and clearing out zombies. Then you mend all the fences and place gas lamps along the inside of the fence to be able to see people trying to sneak up in the cover of night to cut their way inside. EDIT: Potentially to make pad locking a gate make more sense there could be pieces of chain as loot in industrial areas that are needed to fix the pad lock to the gate. These chains could perhaps also double as a melee weapon.

Pliers made useful (and simple base building)

Or you can just leave the bullet inside and patch up. ;) I for one wouldn't mind a more extensive medical system in the game, but I'm not sure that everyone are that "hardcore" and want to fiddle around with sewing needles and catgut and quick-clot and Hyfin and nose tubes and whatnot. Oh you took a bullet to the chest? Let me patch that up with a Hyfin. Oh does that make you lose breath? Let me just peel back the hyfin a bit. Still losing breath? Probably ventilation pneumothorax then. Time to set a needle.. EDIT: Sorry. I'm derailing my own thread. Let's get back to talking about pliers!

Pliers made useful (and simple base building)

Unfortunately the pliers in the game are too bulky to be used to remove bullets. Also without higher medical training it's dangerous to remove bullets because sometimes that makes it worse, risking further injury or the victim simply bleeding out. So basically you need to be a doctor to see if a bullet can be removed at all, without causing the victim's death upon removal.

Pliers made useful (and simple base building)

No, I'm thinking of combination pliers that can be used for cutting as well as "plying" (the Swedish name is kombitång). :) As you can see that is the type that exist in the game currently:

    DayZ: The Ultimate Hiking simulator

How about putting player stats on a separate page that allows you to make a sweet little banner to link in your signature, displaying only the stats you want to show, along with any other relevant data like what country you're from, in-game name and so forth, as you choose? Also stats should be character specific. When you die they reset.

    Reloading

I want the backpack to be stacked in the order you put things into it, and when you're trying to find your can opener there should be an animation of your toon taking everything out and placing it on the ground around themselves and once the can opener is found you have to repack your backpack which results in another delay and accompanying animation. Obviously you should also have to kneel while accessing your backpack. :D
  15. The others would look at me funny and point fingers if I stuck my pants in my boots when in service. When I wear my civilian boots I always have my pants outside. The reason you wear pants outside the boots is it doesn't matter if your pants get wet if they're on the outside of the boot. If you put your pants inside you'll have, as previously stated, all kinds of crap falling into your boots. Also fluids travel down through fabric and if it rains or you piss yourself or simply sweat profusely you'd prefer if that went on the outside of your boots. The only time you would probably stick your pants inside would be standing still in shallow water, on a clear sunny day. Not sure why you would do that though, unless you're out fishing or something. So until they introduce fishing into DayZ this is a non-issue. ;)
  16. I would like to be able to blow up gas canisters by shooting at them or putting them into a camp fire. That would be useful. EDIT: Maybe I should clarify how it would be useful. :) If you're out in the middle of the night and the forest is teeming with zombies you might want to create a distraction. Throwing a gas canister onto the camp fire will create a BLEVE (google it), which will not only put out the camp fire due to the blast wave, but also make the zombies go towards the sound, allowing you to get out of there safely.
  17. I don't assume someone's there. I don't rule out someone is there if I see doors open. It's just a slightly higher degree of cautiousness. I almost never go straight out a door from a building. I always scan the area outside through the opening, then move up to the door and peek to the left and right, and finally bolt out and get into cover. I don't care if it takes time. It keeps me alive.
  18. Didn't your parents teach you to close doors behind you? Jokes aside, the point would be to not alert someone to your presence in an area you're looting. When I see open doors I'm immediately more cautious.

    Epinephrine - preemptive use (suggestion)

No. Well, yes. It's only an idea. I thought I'd post it so we can discuss it further.
  20. Depends on what the reward is really, but you're right. If done wrong the blade will cut both ways.

    An Anthropological Study Of Dayz

You'd be surprised how many people haven't heard about the Stanford Prison Experiment.
  22. I disagree that is the only way. I've already posted my ideas in this thread so I won't do it again.
  23. People need to understand the concept of force majeure. When things out of your hands stop you from upholding an agreement it's called force majeure. Like if you're late to a meeting because the bus was late even though you were at the bus stop on time, that's force majeure. If you're late to that same meeting because you were playing DayZ instead of getting ready to go to the meeting then it's not force majeure. If you have insurance there is often crazy force majeure clauses in the contract, where stuff like meteors destroying earth and a third world war will not give you insurance money if your car was scratched. Often a good read. Check it out if you haven't already. ;)
