Yes. Thanks. Rickenbacker already alerted me to that earlier in the thread. Stupid language barrier. :) I always used the word magazine, but someone said that was wrong and I got confused.
-
Thanks. I'm assuming that's what Rickenbacker was referring to then. :) So basically, magazines (which I have luckily been calling them, although I got confused because of a post here on the forums) can be external or internal, and clips are sort of a speed loading item. I've shot weapons with both internal and external magazines, but never used a clip to load either. The more you learn..

Ah ok. So stripper-clip and clip is essentially the same thing?

Pending Changelog: Experimental Branch: 0.42.116002
finnpalm replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
Yeah, there might be a backlash because of the hype being over once the game is finished. It's a fine line when you're creating video games when it comes to creating hype. You'll want just enough hype, at just the right time, so that it reaches it's climax about the time of the release. If you hype too much people will be disappointed, if you hype too little you will get less attention to attract funding. If you hype too early interest will die down in time for release, lowering your sales numbers. If you hype too late, well.. same problem really. I see you edited your post.. :/ -

The truth about heroes, bandits, survivors, KOS, and friendlies.
finnpalm replied to Etherimp's topic in General Discussion
I'm assuming you're referring to the system in WoT. Like I said, that system is never wrong, but it carries with it a certain amount of responsibility on the player. If you don't try to avoid accidents you might get tagged. But if that's the case and you don't bother to look where you're driving, just smashing into your team mates and damaging them you're just as bad as those who shoot their team mates. That system is, if anything, not catching everyone, but it's effective enough to limit TKing. It does not flag people who damage enemies by accident, unless that person "accidentally" damages people systematically. And if you systematically, accidentally shoot your friends something is wrong. How much power it takes to run such a system I am not completely sure of. All I said however, was that it's doable. And the system will be effective enough to limit the problem. Hell, the consequences don't even have to be death. It can be that you simply get a server message saying "You cannot log out at this time". Take for example healing in the standalone as it is currently. Have you noticed that you don't heal while in combat? Even if you're max energized and hydrated? After you leave combat it takes a while before healing resumes. There's a good example of what I'm talking about. -
And a clip?

You're wrong. Such a program can be made more intelligent than you think. -
There you go. I've never shot a .22 so thanks for the info. Can you adjust the zeroing in-game?
-
Personally, I'm more confused about the 50 m zeroing of the .22 Sporter than I am about the damage. In a video that was posted earlier here somewhere they were shooting it pretty accurately at about 400+ m. Can someone please explain how they calculate the zeroing in the game? Or give me the actual D-max?
-
Sorry for double post.

Again, it's not Somalia. That picture is from Liberia. You may well have been a good shot before enlisting, sure. But like I said what you learn in the army is how to fight. Not just how to shoot. There's quite a lot of difference. Shooting on a range, or hunting, is very different from how you behave when your target is shooting back at you. Are you sure you're not confusing clip and stripper-clip now? Don't get me wrong, because I know that both the term clip and magazine are used for the item you put your cartridges into before loading it into the weapon.
-
Or it's lost in translation. In Swedish a clip is called "magasin". You can see how that can easily get confusing for a Swede. ;) Well, military training includes, among other things, learning how to move with a weapon, how to catch the recoil with your body, how to breathe, and so on and so forth. Irl military training has everything to do with if you can shoot or not. In-game some of that knowledge can be translated into helping you become a good shot as well, since the game is built on the Real Virtuality engine, which is made to be realistic in how gunplay works. If you're ignorant of that fact however, you'll still be bad. :)

Are the rifles in different condition? Or both are pristine? That picture is from Liberia.

Possibly lag. Check your ping.

Why putting heart attacks in game makes no sense
finnpalm replied to Rick1633's topic in General Discussion
Heh. Well, those that can't relate to it, or simply assumes it's not possible have obviously never experienced it. But not all gamers are couch potatoes. ;) -

That is incorrect. A person with strong will can push themselves beyond their limits. -
How the hell did he get up there?

How about.. Instead of posting about things we don't like in the forum we report them on the feedback page? If it has already been posted there, that means they are aware of the glitch/bug and are working on it, so then you can just upvote it. Take your above example with getting aggro'd by two zombies when two people are shooting at you. Report that. Alert them to this so they have something to go on. In my opinion too few people bother to report things like that, and instead come on here and post. And that's when it's interpreted as "whining" or "complaining" instead of "constructive feedback". Well, the only way to stem such behavior is to speak up against it. Staying quiet about something like that only makes you part of the problem. Basically someone misusing a phrase such as being raped to describe losing in a game doesn't understand the real meaning of it, and how utterly horrible it is for someone who is exposed to such abuse irl. There have been plenty of articles written on "rape culture" as it exists in the gaming world, and the first step must always be to explain to a person using that concept to describe something else that they shouldn't do it. Sure a lot of people will do it more just out of spite, but some will get the point and think once or twice before doing it again. So it's baby steps, and no-one really wants to be socially incompetent, and plenty of people just say stuff because they heard others say it, without considering what it means. And that's what we have to work with. Making those people aware that it's not socially acceptable, and remind those that already knows this in the back of their heads. -

I understand. But a lot of people come here assuming it is. And I tried to point out why people might think that. ;) -

Of course it can. The game will know there is fog. The game will know if the person shooting had eyes on the person who was shot at. After all, the game decides what is rendered on your screen, and it's the game that creates the fog, so the data is already there. -
Like stated earlier, walk down the stairs. If you run there's a risk you trip and break your leg/s. Apart from that it might just be you experienced a statistical anomaly. Welcome to DayZ. ;)
-
Oh I don't mean it could not possibly be used on humans. I'm just saying that it wouldn't be very effective. And considering the recent bunch of threads complaining about the lack of stopping power of the .22 rifle and pistol (duh) I thought I'd just point that out. ;)

Oh fun - all geared up 12 hours ago, now naked. Fun.

Actually, because of the disclaimer they are excused for everything. That's what disclaimers are for. "Hey, we apologise beforehand for any inconveniences you may experience".
