PVP + hunger bar = Survival Game? Gameplay fits story?
MarchmelloMan replied to Marooney's topic in General Discussion
Well, actually that really is most of the stuff. But it is far away from boring. Why?Because the interactions make it in comparison to other games uniquely exciting. You don't know if the other one is evil, good, passive, active, a psycho, whatever. In most MMOs other players can't really kill you, you can only write with them ingame, it is much more static and nothing of value, far away from reality. In games like battlefield 3, death is nothing special and part of the pvp, you don't really interact with other players, you just shoot them, interactions aren't really of value or really exciting too. Here takes DayZ another edge and makes it more real, less static and gives you the choice to do whatever you want, plus the fact, that a wrong choice could cost your life. And that is exactly what makes it so exciting. For your story, you have no real goal. It is just what it should be, walking through an post-apocalyptic world with all the freedom you can have and doing what you want. Looking for freshspawns and help them. Finding friendly survivors and team up. Hunting other players and becoming a good predator. Even torturing is possible. And you will never know what and how the next interaction will be. So currently, I have actually no other game that makes PVP, interactions, call it as you like, as exciting as they are in DayZ. Though, I like the idea with the serum, which causes more "friendly" interactions, and some of your other suggestions :) -
Loot Respawning is in yeah? What about Economy etc?
MarchmelloMan replied to crimsonbzd's topic in General Discussion
Experienced several times the same, was sure there had been no loot and the next time I walked by that place, shoes or sth were on the ground, and the crossbow popped up several times. -
Source with precise information about weapon dmg / armor etc.
MarchmelloMan posted a topic in General Discussion
Hey guys, just in case someone knows something about this: I would like to know, if there is a Site that shares precise information about weapon dmg, and much more important: weapon dmg reduction respective to different clothes. And perhaps other useful data about ingame stuff. Already scouted daywiki, db, etc but there is only vague stuff provided.. ..so if there is a soul among those 2 mil. survivors that tracks precise information, would be cool if it could be shared :) Probably not, but worth a try. -
Not the loot servers are the problem, they just make server hopping easier. It's the current and probably ongoing distribution of gear; why do you server hop? Cause you loot ONE place that has ALL the gear you need, then go to the next server when the place is looted. What would solve it? Spread the loot across more locations, so server hopping is not necessary anymore.. Loot whole cities, forests, everything and not just the single "hot spots" while everything else is more or less boring for a lot of players

Should every loot location have a tiny chance of spawning any type of loot
MarchmelloMan replied to theirongiant's topic in General Discussion
I also think that loot should be spread more over the map.. actually, (advanced) players probably only plunder 10% of all the locations and run via "autorun" past all the other places. -
Hey guys, have there been some changes concerning loot distribution/spawning? In the past it was very likely to find a M4A1 at an airfield.. today and before I visited the Balota and NE airfield several times, sometimes fresh and untouched, but never saw a M4A1. Friends experienced it similarly Are there new spawn locations or did I just have no luck finding one?
-
So no m4's at airfields anymore ? Or just really really low chance in comparison to before? What are heli crashes for then? Just additional loot spawns and chance to get the m4?

Shooting and you ... or me as example
MarchmelloMan replied to TyrDaishi's topic in General Discussion
Haven't tested it that extensively but purely from my playing experience the mosin works pretty good (with the LRS at distances from 100-400 metres). It is still my strongest pvp weapon and until now I could hit everything I aimed at (not even using the zeroing function). So I dunno if dust or sth is regularly popping up at hits over 500 or 600 metres, but for pvp it works fine and hits my targets. -
What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?
MarchmelloMan replied to RadikulRAM's topic in General Discussion
I know the problem is actually described often enough, but I have the feeling I encounter these guys more often than before. Yesterday I stayed almost the whole playtime at the airfields and every ~half an hour/every third prison I came in was "plagued" by a wallglitcher. Go up/down the stairs and right out of the wall are fired some shots - dead again cause of more or less invisible / cheating enemy :/ -
Hey guys, dunno if it's my machine or the servers/dayz, but I experience heavy micro lags since ~one week. Every 15-30 seconds I get stuck for ~0,5-1,5 secs.. do eny other players experience this or is it just a problem of my system? greetings
-
Hm ok, perhaps I should check my system.. It's mostly after joining a game for the first time, after playing ~1-2 hours it's almost completely gone

EDITED - PETITION: Should a sound be made when we log on and off?
MarchmelloMan replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
Actually I don't get it why they removed the sounds anyway. The only people that are hurt by that stuff are the server hoppers and they are constantly fighting them with their xx endless timers, so why did they even remove the sounds? Now it's even easier and more effective to server hop right in the building instead of having to look for a safe place, since you can easily ambush the people that think they are safe in their room, looting. -
I honestly think that the current in- and decreasements of the blackscreen-timers of the “Spawning in…” and “Please wait” screens is not really the way to go. I know it is for punishing server hoppers, but I don’t think that they are stopped it, it just rather lowers the general fun factor of starting/playing the game. Thing is, if there is no alternative for what server hoppers do, they will keep doing it. And, to be honest, it is not their fault at all for doing what they do. Because you can’t blame a player for playing a game the way he or she likes the most. And since a lot of players want to gather good equipment, a very common way to go is server hopping – as bad and detrimental it may be. Plus, increasing spawn timers and letting players hang in “please wait” screens also lowers the fun for all other players that don’t server hop. For example when they have to switch servers to play with a friend. Or get kicked and then have to wait 3-4 minutes in a blackscreen. Or having any issue that causes him to switch servers, rather than an emptied airfield. But how can this be achieved if not by blackscreens? In general I think it is more contributional if players are motivated in a positive rather than a negative way to not switch servers. That doesn’t affect players who have a good reason to join another server and it doesn’t lower the general fun factor. So it should be more rewarding the longer you stay on one server. Some ideas that come spontaneously up my mind, but I hope other community members have better ideas: Every 10 minutes you stay, you could get a health-regen bonus. After one hour or something you could get a minor speed boost. Also the respawn timer for items could decrease while the zombies could be made stronger at airfields/military locations. Another motivation for players to loot more than just the famous hotspots like airfields, piano buildings, office buildings etc could be the more intelligent distribution of stuff. For example to remove all drinks and cans off piano buildings and airfields and spread it over the other civilian buildings. Concretely it should not be possible to cover all your needs AND get good equipment at one spot, plus lowering the general concentration of goods at one spot. So that you actually have to loot a whole city and perhaps go hunting to survive and gather all the stuff. If stuff respawns more regularly and is more spread, players would be motivated to not just loot one place but also players who just joined the server don't have to look immediatly for another one if their "hotspot" / airfield / piano building is already looted. He or she can just keep looting on the whole city cause loot is spread and respawns. Some more ideas perhaps, or criticism?

Novodmitrovsk now under martial law
MarchmelloMan replied to DropBearChick's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, tell the server name when you are on with that. All? lol -
In-game murphy's law algorithm need tweaking urgently!
MarchmelloMan replied to stryker007's topic in General Discussion
Murphy's law just too op. ;) -
Mh actually yes.. Somehow I mostly distrust those guys that wear a gasmask, followed by the other masks, though I mistrust the gasmask the most :P The second appearence I mistrust the most is the combination of sunglasses and any kind of beret. Made a lot of bad experiences facing that stuff. Rest is quite open for me. But I guess everyone gets his or her individual prejudices basing on the bad or good experiences they have made with people wearing certain outfits (probably rather subconsciously). Though I think those gasmask-guys are really not trustful :D

Experienced something similar, even more exploiting I would say. I got shot when running through Elektro, went into a house and bandaged myself. Suddenly someone told me, that he could see me and shoot me wherever he wants. I told him that I don't believe it and that he should shut up and he started shooting my leg - while I was safe in a house, four walls, no windows, upper floor. Well he did hit me and threatened me, that he would only stop if I come out with no weapon. I didn't know what to do, really didn't want to go out, he probably would have exploited that situation even more and I left the game. Result: no "you are dead" message but: "character was reset by system (admin)" (dont know the exact expression anymore).

Hey guys, somehow I feel that I never noticed the existence of the so called murphy's law as much as in DayZ. This night I went on a server with 2!! other people on that whole 225 km^2 and I am careless as hell but who do I meet when logging out? Yeah right.. And of course they are aggressive and kill me.. I can't count the times that things like that happened to me - running around for half an hour on a 40/40 server, seeing NO ONE, but joining that f***** 2-5/40 servers encountering the other one, two, three guys on that servers right when I would never expect it.. Two days ago I was at the airfield, going up the stairs of the prison, all fresh, nobody in the whole building and being on a server with exactly one other guy. Starting to loot the room upstairs, going out of that room again heading for the stairs when I got shot, cause someone logged in exactly right beside that space behind the stairs in that 10-20 seconds where I looted the room. IF there is at least one other soul on that server and you DON'T want to meet it, you WILL, at the worst possible point in time. Or if you play at night, where actually 1 or 2 guys per hour log in into a server and the chance is actually 0,00x% that you will stumble on him, he will appear right beside where you are, aggressively!
-
Yea right, but the thing is; when I'm equipped (weapon, ammo and not naked) I go look for trouble and other equipped players/squads.. going to NWAF would pretty much a profitable but also secure and quite lonely walk (and place to be). And it's still a very long walk. In most cases you can spot the other players from further away and decide if to engage or not. If you meet a heavily equipped other hostile player that suprisingly jumps into your arms, well, that's the risk you gotta take. It's just for murphy's law, when you let your guard down at the worst possible point in time, thinking the probability is just too low to meet another player right now, that you will die :P. Too bad that you don't find the scopes in Berezino and Elektro, that's actually the main reason I go for AFs, plus the M4.
-
Yea Berezino is too far away from Balota, but I would run to NE airfield then, it's about a 15 minutes run from there. Who says I am 20 minutes at the airfield :D whoever stays that long is probably camping and lurking for other players. But for looting it only takes just 2-3 minutes. It's not the area I wanna have a picnic.
-
Actually you are just reposting your first statement. I were telling you that people also loot Berezino, Elektro, Balota Airfield and so on. Or is there only one interesting looting spot? And people on middle pop servers run to boring spots? You actually just repeated your stuff. Perhaps thats your personal experience, but not everyone in this game runs to one single military spot when he's not looking at birds. And even less at the same time. But this is about murphy’s law, and I think you have not really an idea what it is about. Murphy’s law just states that if there is a chance that something can go wrong, it will go wrong. It deals with human failures and of not being AWARE of all possible outcomes and consequences. Now, what are we talking here about? Yea right, about the chance of encountering other players and being shot to death cause we were not aware of it! Now you actually just gave a definition of murphys law with your criticism. Cause, yea, I failed to be aware of the danger of the (more or less tiny) chance that I could meet the other single player on the server while looting places. And because I was not aware, and it could go wrong (other single player appears right where I am and shoots me) murphys law strikes and it went wrong.
-
Hey guys, just cause I'm bored and curious.. what's your favourite? Just consider you have no rifle but the choice between the current available sidearms. Actually I'm not that much into them, but I think the 1911 hits quite well. Would take that one. Hope I did not forget one.
-
Yeye, Mr. Grinch. According to your explanations all people run either to NW or NE airfield. And everyone has the same goal of getting geared up there. Really? And if you tell that from the low population.. at night most servers are scarcely populated. Right, lots of players run to NE airfield (and not NW airfield, it's not worth to go there or you wanna look for proper fights). But there are also lots of players who loot Berezino, Svetlo, Balota airfield (not as far away as NW), Elektro and other locations which are all reasonable places to loot and which are normally quite populated. But well, I think the law has to strike you hard to show you the power of murphy's!

*NE Airfield the running point of every naked or half-naked bandit Well Irish, your ancestors hurt. :P

Hi, just glitched into a wall, I think the zombie pressed me into it.. I tried everything to get out, logging out and in again, standing next to the wall and pressing v (which only works when the wall is not in front of me).. but I dont get out.. kinda sucks to wait until I starved to death inside there. Any solution for this?
