As people have mentioned, once loot respawn is in, and is consistent, I suspect the server hopping will be pretty much gone. So long as respawn is consistent, that is, i.e. not only bows and food respawn, while making it near impossible to find anything else.

Only type of safe zone I would like, and not sure if this has been posted already, would be torn down barricades and/or attempts to create roadblocks and quarantine zones within towns or suchlike, that can easily be barricaded, but that would also easy to take out, alternatively not be able to cover a whole town with it. For example, roadblocks, fences that warn of the virus, that you can add some metal plating to, or barbwire or something like that, which can then be patrolled by players and have their rules enforced.

I don't mind ghillie suits and more army specific loot to be added into the game. If people don't like it, I am sure private hives will work out just fine, while letting those of us who enjoy having many choices of how to approach DayZ, the ability to do so.

Are snipers the most harmless thing in DayZ?

I have never been killed by a sniper, unless you count <50 meter hits by M4 spraying. I have, however, taken down quite a few people with my trusty Mosin when the need arises for it. The most deaths I have died by is CQB related, so I make sure to always carry with me at least one pistol and keep it ready when I go into buildings. Managed to mow down a few people in this fashion, as well. I don't play a stationary role as a sniper, either, but rather I move around with the rest of my group, and when the need arises for a long shot, I do it, while the rest of the guys handle CQB, either with SKS's or M4s. -
When you walk out of a building, or anything that puts you between two things, i.e. a cracked wall, doorway etc, walk so you are standing just past it, stop and wait 2 - 5 seconds, then you will be able to move without problem.
