Would love to see trading. Anywhere, at anytime. Anything less would feel hokey. Trading areas? why? To me, it would be like adding a safe zone in DayZ, where you couldnt be killed. And just assuming that people dont want to trade, just because stealing is easier is naive. Theft is as much an option in real life as it is in a game, therefore, so should an honest, and fair trade.

Using pens to mark blood type on blood bag...
HarrisKevyn replied to Zombology's topic in Suggestions
Hell Yes. Cant believe someone didnt come up with this before. So Obvious now. -
to tors (guy above me): Freaking loved Metro 2033, and loved the feeling the mask gave you. It was a sense of claustrophobia and fear of conflict (due to breakage). Would love to see a similar system for it in DayZ. But at the moment, I Still cant really see a good reason for a gasmask at all. Disease, maybe the small respirators, but a full on mask? Are we Expecting to end up with Chlorine Gas in our face? Whats the deal with it?

Agreed. Would be awesome for the sake of immersion.

Posted this on another forum, and a few people seemed to generally like the idea, so im creating a discussion on the paticular subject. "What if every single time you respawned, You got a different set of clothing to work with? You know, for the hardcore role players. Say they also added in a perk system that randomized upon death, like blood. You would respawn and say "oh look, i must have been a mechanic/police officer/dockworker/etc." They would then have perks directly tied to that character until it died. Anyway, just a rambling thought. Reguardless, i would love to see more clothes diectly pulled from jobs and workforces, rather than just have the worlds largest hoodiefest." Wondered what any more of you might think. Would you like to see this implemented on a Hardcore Server, or no? And as always, suggestions and imput are welcome.
-
I Was thinking mostly back to the roots of Old School D&D, where you had a backround profession you rolled for that didnt play a huge role unless you wanted it to. Again, not something for everyone, but could be something interesting for the Hardcore servers if they wanted it.

Agree that Pistols should mean a little more, especially a wider variety of them. Would love to see a small .22 Revolver, or even a less-than-common M9 Baretta spawning on the Police Zeds.

using spraycans to leave messages on houses/ mark trees and for self defense
HarrisKevyn replied to daisho's topic in Suggestions
Dynamic Shapes are a bit difficult to program in, and with a large server, i cant imagine that there would be enough bandwidth to allow for anything in. It would be possible, however, to create basic shapes like hobo signs, and have them tied to the F keys when the spraycan is in your hand. -
What If when you started a new character (I.E. Died and respawned), you were given a randomized backround profession? Farmer, Carpenter, Mechanic, Etc. Only in certain tasks would you be good at. They already randomize blood types when you respawn, why not perks?

I Liked their idea of the sawed-off shotgun, and the ability to carry it in your pack, but I cant see any weapons currently on the rostier that can do that. Which is why im suggesting ideas for foldable weapons. There are three weapons that i really like that can have a great coveted value; Kel-Tec Sub 2000 Hotchkiss Universal SMG AR-7 Longrifle They come as 9mm and .22lr and fold up remarkably well. Im Especially a fan of the Hotchkiss Universal because of how quickly it can be loaded, as it features a semi-integrated magazine. The trick to these kinds of weapons would be making them either extremely rare, or very fragile, less they be game-breaking. Anyone have imputs on the idea? Or maybe additional weapons that compact and store easily?
-
Its a possibility they may add folding stocks for only the SMGs. God knows i would love to have an ak74 with a folding stock, but that has some serious game-balancing issues if snipers could carry a 7.62x5.45 in their backpack.
-
Saw another form on here asking for the ability to wear a hoodie with the hood up. Both could be implemented in a similar way.
-
Crossed my mind and im also hoping they would Implement folding for the 74m Stock. Looking at the model they have on the wiki page, its just a wooden stock, but it would be nice to see foldable stocks implemented in as customization options similar to the Mosin-Nagant's bipods. The only issue that I can see is the limited functionality of a folding stock. It will be useful when stuffing it into a fridge (when they implement containers), but not much else.
-
Id love to see it attempted, but i have a feeling that people are going to like having an ATV over a horse, simply because you dont have to feed it.

What about belt attachments? Sort of as an extra storage area. Add in toolbelts, gun holsters, hell, maybe even crafted bags made from leather (assuming one can hunt for hides.) even so, ive noticed in the animations and clothing that theyve stayed away from the waistline pretty well. Im guessing thats for texture stretching. However, if they ever wanted to add in more interesting storage, this would be a great way to go. Or stuff everything into a fridge....

Skill / Perk System Suggestion - May reduce KOS
HarrisKevyn replied to movebywire's topic in Suggestions
Perhaps there could be a quick progression system. Just constructing an idea, and its not quite a full thought, but what if there was an xp system that leveled your characters up quickly, but then lost all skill progression once your character died? Not sure of any other games that do that, plus itd be a bit more to try to advance on, other than just getting more tuna fish than everyone else. To keep in with the rest of the game's "permadeath", all xp and skill points are nullified and returned to zero upon death. It crosses my mind that later gamers may be more powerful than those spawning on the coast, but again, just a quick idea. -
Getting back to the Bows, I always thought itd be easy to implement. -knife to stick to make sharpened stick, sharpened stick to bird feathers to make arrow. -Stick to animal tendon to make bow. Sounds easy to me. Animations would be the only hard part, but then youd only need one for all the bows out there.

Looked through the forums and could not find this topic. Would anyone be in favor of gardening? Ive noticed a serious amount of Greenhouses popping up in the new township areas and wondered if they would be adding such a mechanic in-game. Implementation would be straightforward; Eating a food item (depending on condition) would give you a 5-0% chance of recovering seeds from said item. Planting the seed would require either a planter box, or a tilled tract of dirt. The area would have to be kept irrigated (via rain, pond, irrigation system or watering pail) in order for the food to grow. There would be 2 types of food items: Hot-climate and Cold climate. Hot climate would refer to anything that would require a greenhouse to grow, such as kiwis and tomatoes, and cold climate would be anything that does not require a greenhouse, like potatoes, beans, and lettuce. Such Actions like canning food could also be implemented. Just imagine the ability to make your own jar of fresh-made chilli with peppers, beans, tomatoes and meat, and carry it with you on your journey ahead. Anyway, I Didnt see the idea posted and thought it may be an interesting topic of discussion. Imput is undoubtedly welcome.

Immediately after posting this I saw some other threads going for similar notions. I Also saw the post that farming in some way would be implemented. I Like the idea of sprouts you have. would alleviate the time between seed and plate. Especially if one was able to transport sprout from one garden to another. Then you wouldnt have to walk too far for them pumpkins.
