It's a post apocalyptic zombie simulator. Not a utopia.... It's not really hard, just team up with ppl and join a clan. Get on teamspeak and find a server to play on. Theres a reason in the walking dead games and movies people grouped together to survive.

The game still isn't balanced and while there is an array of weaponry and loot, the actual spawn rate needs to be greatly reduced so they we have a reason to use the implemented improvised weapon crafting system. As it stands right now, there is little to no reason to craft an improvised bow, why should such a thing even be in the game when there so many pistols and rifles available? It's just because the devs have not balanced it yet, but also private servers will want to adjust the loot table to play as they desire. Imagine dayz with hoardes of zombies and only improvised weapons and few rifles and pistols. Changing these variables will change the pve and pvp aspect -
Again....it's not about tailoring to my wants, its about tailoring to what was advertised. This is not a KOS thread so don't derail it, DayZ is a post apocalyptic zombie survival sandbox. Nowhere in the inital ads for it was it ever written that zombies were a placeholder or would be taken out eventually. They were supposed to be an element of gameplay. So this is why they hired the team to do animal and zombie AI. Now they are close to implementing the new zombie AI which is what is supposed to happen. I never said anything about KOS or hating it or PVP sucks or anything like that. Apparently you are incapable of reading or your comprehension sucks. So again I'll spell it out. I stopped playing because I was bored of playing the unfinished game, now that the game is finally adding in the game mechanic that is central to the game I will continue playing. I expect as soon as zombie AI and hoardes are implemented a bunch of butthurt individuals will come on this forum and steam forums complaining about how it's too hard and they can't PVP like they used to. I will laugh, and they will cry apparently not understanding that the game they have been playing for the past 6 months was not the final game and was lacking an important feature that WILL change gameplay.

This is the kind of stupid douchebaggery I'm talking about. I stopped playing because the game was repetitive and boring and all the features weren't in. How many times am I going to go gear up and hunt players before it becomes dull. I miss the original stealth of the original mod where you had to crawl around and do the barrel roll around zombies because they were actually a challenge and not just window dressing. I was waiting for the complete game, and now finally we'll be soon entering the phase of balancing what should be a key feature of the game. If I just want to play regular pvp, I'll play arma 3 since its less buggy, has nicer graphics and better weapons. And I do play Arma 3 when I'm in the mood for some decent pvp in a game that functions well but last time I checked, DayZ was supposed to be DayZ not (crappy version of Arma2 with less features than arma 2 and window dressing zombies). That was fine for the mod, not a standalone title

Finally, I have been waiting for this patch. I stopped playing for a long time because of it The game is called Dayz, not Call of DutyZ. the PVP has just become retarded as its become a giant COD map where zeds are a minor nuisance. I was beginning to think the devs were giving up on having meaningful zombie AI. Sadly I hope they don't cave into all these modern warfare ppl after this patch that will whine and cry because I can't use my 5000 guns without dying from zombie hoardes. Finally it will really be about zombie survival mmo

Inb4... There better be katanas eventually just for the lulz. That said I still havent found a sword. They've expanded the map so much that I keep getting lost since they're putting buildings right up until the edge of the map now and changed certain areas to add cliff faces i've never seen before Keep it up devs! -

Its just what it sounds like It isn't an issue with some weapons, but others like the shotgun and some magazines, it is frustrating. IRL when shooting you usually top off your magazine tube and basically shove in shells until its full. I do this pretty much automatically so its a bit annoying in game to not be able to reload the shotgun when it has 1 or 2 shells in it without shooting it dry. I realize certain weapons will be different like any rifle that is fed by stripper clip or a box magazine. But with weapons like lever actions, shotguns, and revolvers you should be able to load the tube magazine or cylinder when it is less than full. I.E. I shoot 3 shots with the repeater, and I want to top off those 3 shots for the next fight so my capacity is always full. This is what gunbelts/bandoleers or shotgun side saddles are for. But even without those (since they're not in the game, you can reload and top off the magazine with shells that are in your pocket. That said I would like to see side saddles and stock shell carriers along with maybe a gunbelt for the revolver/repeater

They already exist with persistence to a degree- But if you want to hide things in refrigerators or shelves that would be neat, I imagine as cars and other vehicles get fleshed out it will be implemented. basically if you can find a box that is a world container with persistence now

Incapacitation/ Kinectic knockdown discussion

I didn't say you would fly off your feet- the kinectic impact is like being hit by a truck in that you will have most definately broken bones, internal injuries- I'm not talking about turning it into the matrix. A good shot to the solar plexus even with plates can still knock the wind out of you- that will bring you to your knees because you can't breath and have broken ribs- not that you'll fly back -

THIS! being hit by a round is like being hit by a truck- it's gonna knock you on your ass but also generally won't kill you instantly unless its a well placed shot that destroys the brain. With this incapacitation it gives more incentive to actually use the medical equipment- right now theres no purpose to having things like a difibber or even blood bag really because if you get hit you can just patch up and eat some food. Theres no incentive to team up or have a combat medic that can help you This - coupled with dragging bodies would be an excellent addition- just imagine one of your buddies getting hit and you having to drag him to safety and patch him up -

There would have to be a timer for how long a dead body stays on the server to avoid clutter. Dragging would be good since we have ragdoll now I would like more rotting corpse objects in general to be in the worldspace along with the carwrecks and barricades that were in the mod. Chernarus feels to0 clean

since we have so many status effects now, Besides adding limping movement when your leg is broken, your walking and running gait should be changed with corrosponding levels of illness, starvation, dehydration. This will help eliminate status messages and make it more immersive and realistic. If you are red sickness, starving or dying of thirst, you should have a near shambling walk similar to the zombies and only be able to jog for a few seconds. If you're in the yellow your posture and run cycle should be slower than green or what we have now, Other players should be able to determine this from a distance by how fast you can move and your body posture animation. I think this will help not just with immersion, but also as vehicles are introduced. We really need a tired walking animation and status effects like blurred vision and increased weap sway when you're starving or sick that will finally lead to vomiting/unconsciousness. This can also be used with getting shot as blood loss would trigger the same staggering walk animation, meaning that if you just got shot by a 45 or 7.62 you can't just sprint away, hide and rebandage. You would limp or stagger away and probably get killed

Both Starvation and thirst should make sense within the in game day night cycle. Meaning that- yes traveling cross country backpacking will make you burn calories extremely quickly, however, you won't die in a day. I think they need to add more status effects to things like temperature and disease so you get blurred vision, run slower, have more weapon sway and a gradually generally weaker when you are sick, staving or dehydrated so we won't have to check the inventory menu or have the little messages in the corner

In reality from eating cooked human meat you're not going to get any diseases unless you eat nervous tissue, which most people would not eat on any animal. Theres not a big market in chicken, turkey or pig brains for sale so why would you eat a human brain? I understand they put it in for some sort of differentiation but its a hollywood one. Which is pretty much fine since this is a game and zombies sure as hell don't exist. Other than this patch, ppl will probably get bored of cannibalism fairly soon until loot tables are fixed. But its good to have the option. You should be able to do something like this but it doesnt really mean you HAVE to or have arbitrary penalities assigned if you do -

This isn't really a suggestion so much as just a concept. We have the magnetic shoulder where all your military needs are stashed- But we also now have ropes in the game- Why can't be make imporvised slings and get rid of the magnetic shoulder- Realistically if you're spawning and you find a mosin and an axe- you should have to find a rope to be able to make a sling in the contextual menu before putting them on your back. Otherwise they should be forced to carry in your hands making growing the loot pack a little more hectic. Also....Now that we have 2 shotguns, where are the bandoleers? and shouldn't we be able to make improvised bandoleers from rags and rope?

OMG yes! It should be over the shoulder- It would eliminate the exploit of looking around corners which is why so many more mmo shooters are using it now- you can have vanity mode but in order to equalize and create a more claustrophobic enviornment- MOVE THE CAMERA CLOSER you won't be able to see around corners without exposing yourself like you can now and it also will create a more visceral experience since you will be closer to your character and the action free of exploits with blindspots as you normally would in real life or in first person gawd I hope the devs change the camera -

Food glorious Food! I honestly don't see what the taboo is- i mean you already are just running around pvp-ing. Why not eat the meat? Once the loot tables are fix I hope it becomes viable survival option if you're starving

Easiest way to mitigate griefing is to make use of books in the game and give a dice roll to making an ied if you read book X you have a higher succesful chance to not blow yourself up when crafting. This can also add to the rp idea in that you can defacto create a class of demo experts. Besides when vehicles are into the standalone. I want to be able to blow up the happy couple joyriding through the countrside like a bunch of idiots. It will equalize the playing field in that respect and create more tension and drama since every place could, and should be booby trapped. Also it would allow for basebuilding because you and your mates could claim an apt complex- and surround it with traps and ieds and put a sniper on top

Although cannibalism is taboo, its reported all over the world when there are dire circumstances of famine and war- one of the reasons you never see any corpses in the old reels from the battle of stalingrad. The whole insanity thing or Kuru can pretty much be negated by not eating nervous tissue. In reality, the people that have lived through those times did just that- lived through, remained taboo and continued to live their lives without going insane. If you add in cannibalism then the loot tables need to be shifted to be more like the 2017 mod with fewer animals and less canned goods around. Personally I think this would be a great addition because it would add actual survival if resources were that much more scarce. everything thing in this game from the enviornment to the zombies to other players should be trying to kill you 24/7 and its up to the player to survive however they can

its macabre but I think this and hanging people would add SO MUCH to the atmosphere.... I kinda would love to see a persistant flayed hanging corpse upon entering a town or something. Or maybe something like in the forest where you can build human effigies from corpses. If its the zombie APOCALYPSE, it should took like it. I WANNA SEE PEOPLE SWINGING FROM LAMPOSTS!
