Setting a building on fire or creating a large bonfire or tirefire wall of debris complete with smoke would be a good way to channel and disrupt attackers around big cities and provide smoke cover from sniper I don't know if they're going to add destructable buildings into Dayz like the mod but if they do it would give people the ability to make area denial a possibility atleast until a server restart I think it would also just be good add to the post apocalyptic landscape

Anything with a folding stock should be able to be folded and tucked away inside a backpack or suitcase

NOOOOOOO I for one will join the Save TheRadBrad movement! He's such a nice guy SAVE THE RAD BRAD FROM THESE MADMEN!

Fallout is even worse especially with some of the mods. But thats not the issue. The issue is probably marketing. Since places like Austrailia would insta-ban the game Still I think it would give the game a bit more depth if you could either have zombie kids or choose to have your character be an old guy or a young kid. Or perhaps a fat guy
-
Also dont forget people In case you never heard of the movie Kickass or Kickass 2 the idea of a young kid dismembering adults is not really as raunchy as you might think.

I don't understand how Bethesda is able to have children in Fallout 3/New Vegas and nobody complains. I seriously think we're past the "OMG a kid in a game lets' be offended" Nobody complained about Ellie in the last of Us DLC literally partially severing a zombies head or in the main game stabbing a grown man to death Some countries would ban it (not that it matters people will get bogus copies anyways) but I think the main reason they won't implement children is because of marketing. (Even though bad press would actually be a positive and probably get even more people to buy the game)

The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)
Duenan replied to alexeistukov's topic in Suggestions
XM-26 LSS Shotgun This weapon is also an attachment for the M4 and i think it would be a mean little shotgun in Dayz -
OH man that internal gun shot sounds SWEET If should be damn near deafening if you shoot a gun indoors as it is IRL without hearing protection
-
I agree. The only thing that should respawn are maybe pepsi cans some beans and an occasional saline bag or IV start kit HARDCORE BABY This coupled with base building and permenant stores will force people to group into armies so you'll have baddie bandits vs hero armies for the loot

I was just about to post a new topic on this But it would be great if you could like break the rear view mirror off of a car and use it to see around corners when you're in big cities or urban combat. Trade off would be you could see around a corner but if the mirror hit the light source of the sun it would glint and other people would know you're there

It's just powdered sugar and blackpowder These should be in the game because it would afford cover from snipers

Disruption of body functions after a gun fight
Duenan replied to king_of_the_beans's topic in General Discussion
this would be cool but it would open up a real medic situation. Which would inturn breed more KOS as people camp hospitals n junk meaning nobody that gets injured would be able to heal themselves without certain death. Unless you mean just status effects that have no cure like blurred vision for 30min or something. Perhaps going in an out of consciousness where an epi pen doesnt auto revive you -
I want a mini 14 in the game... screw the b95

oh man this is gonna be glorious

Rocket standing down from Dayz by end of year
Duenan replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
This is why I kind of hate the idea of early access and alpha. Its so easy to promise customers the world and give them a half finish POS with hopes and dreams on top. That said I did buy the stand alone because once the SDK comes out the mods alone will be worth it. Realistically I'm only expecting a few more guns and things from other Dayz Mods to be added into the game. In the end it will be a slightly better version of the Dayz Mod but nowhere near what used to be known as a full game. This type of this in the gaming industry has been a long time coming. It started with expansion packs turning into DLCs. Certain companies only creating a base alpha game and then selling patches calling them DLC as add ons. With the growth of the industry since the 2000s producing games has only become more expensive and time consuming. The very nature of community interactive chat with devs has compounded the problem along with instant feedback and trolling mechanisms like reddit. No longer can a studio develop a game and put it out there without appeasing the casual player crowd or competing with large studios and multi million dollar products. Mass appeal is what sells. And since most people have capable computers these days you're not marketing to the older pc gamer crowd that likes intense complicated thoughtful games. The money is still in consoles and games with mass appeal. So welcome to CODayZ. -
A better alternative is the suomi M31 A finnish weapon and predecessor of of PPSH it fires 9mm in drum or stick mag and is a surplus weapon with pretty ample parts and wide distribution That said the PPSh was already in the list of recommended weapons

Would phones/internet work in Case of Apocalypse
Duenan replied to Damnyourdeadman's topic in General Discussion
Depending on the advent of no power you'd have other issues. Mainly Reactors going critical all over the planet depending on how capable you believe your gov't really is. There are white papers on the subject of EMP and the effects from it not to mention books written like "One second After" which pretty much show the reality of a global/national cataclysm with just the power itself going down. Most conservative estimates wager a 90% die off rate in the 1st year of an emp or carrington event in which the power goes out permenantly or semi permenantly. In a situation like that you would have lack of Transformers to repair the originals which have blown out. In a zombie apocalypse you would have similar issues. Critical infrastructure would be destroyed as you have cascading effects. Due to the chaos you would have critical infrastructure being abandoned and you can imagine what that would look like if you play the 1st 20minutes of the Last of Us. After that aside from the zombie plague itself you would have core infrastructure things, mass refrigeration systems, climate controlled systems, Most importantly non gravity controlled piping systems would be destroyed. Good luck getting water from a faucet. Enjoy freezing and baking to death at the mercy of mother nature. Add in the corpses in the street and sanity issues as every single third world disease pops up overnight and for the survivors, waste management becomes a huge issue when you can't flush the toilet anymore. You certainly can't burn all your waste either as you'd be sacraficing fuel that you could heat and cook with to burn waste not to mention the fire hazard. In a few months most cities would burn to the ground from a lightning strike with overgrowth and leaves building up on the ground. Skyscrapers would be gutted just like they are in Detroit. In one year most unoccupied houses would be terrariums, especially these modern build homes that are constructed from little more than plywood and cardboard. Basements would be flooded in low lying areas. In rural areas growth like Kudzu and ivy and anything viny would start devouring houses along with the local wildlife and insects. In 5 years you could have entire towns and housing subdivisions reduced to mossy covered caves filled with mold or the foundations depending on the climate and elevation. For a coastal area like chernarus as much as it rains, some houses should be near ruins. And thats not taking into account flammable biomatter from all the trees catching on fire. We should also see deer and other game wandering INSIDE the cities if you want to make it true to form. We see some burn out cars but there should also be burnt out buildings with growth entangling them Dayz needs to find its story and find a way to add into these nuances. But it's alpha....so i digress. -
how do i achieve a healthy or healing status in dayz?
Duenan replied to sarl98's topic in General Discussion
Eat alot of food and drink, find some fresh fruit and eat some vitamins. remain energized and hydrated. I got this status after I went on an eating binge after a firefight -
This is a great idea. There in general needs to be masses of corpses lying around everywhere along with the fly buzzing sound. My oh my would that add atmosphere
-
This would be amazing if implemented and it would give people are reason to not kill eachother on site. Maybe you end up killing a welder or a mechanic that could fix your car. Maybe you end up killing a CNC machinist that could make you custom weaponry or any other thing that you want. It would give people a reason to group together and make bases. Since not only would you need raw materials to fix something but you would also need knowhow. I support this 100% as it would add a depth that doesnt exist in this game or even in the mod
-
I wish I had a chance to play like this because it would be so much fun. Instead all I get are bullets whizzing by and I either return fire or bolt into the wilderness. People go on and on about how KOS is great and a badge of honor but the game would be infinitely more fun if people tried to kidnap folks or just shake them down for gear. It may change once vehicles get implimented and some people can simply drive up on you and tell you to get in the car and then drive back to their base or some desolate spot to finish you off. Right now this game for me plays like an extended counter strike mission which is sad because thats not what DayZ is supposed to be
-
Insanely easy. Even the mod was insanely easy. Way too easy. The only threats currently are other players which is dissappointing. Whats the point of half of the illnesses and things they are programming in if they are no threat. Once animals and hunting is implemented food will be a complete Non issue. The only reason its an issue now is because of lack of respawn. The devs seriously need to look at balancing this game. They need to have lots of stuff but make it all exceedingly rare. That would make finding an m4 worth it rather than turning the gun down because you already found 2 before when you werent even trying.

I like the back pocket Idea for unholstered weapons. It just gives it that cool factor

Persistent storage containers; do you like the idea or not?
Duenan replied to -MadTommy's topic in General Discussion
I think a simple solution for the respawn camp looter is lockable containers. If you have a footlocker and you fill it with stuff you also have the key for it just like handcuffs. If I handcuff someone then get killed. My hostage is SOL for the most part unless they break the cuffs. If you institute this with lockable containers then when I respawn I have to. 1. Find my old body before someone else does to get my keys to my stash 2. Find my stash and hope nobody tails me. If you couple this idea with the personal ID suggestion that someone came up with you could have lockable containers with a key and ID info that tells you were (approximately) the treasure is. This would ofcourse give rise to a bash or breaking lock function where you could find someone's stash and break it open with a percentage damage taken to whatever items are inside. Perhaps there could even be a lockpick kit or a picklock skill that would result in less damage to player goods. This would also allow player stashes to be server side and persistant if there was an added minigame associated with finding. Bashing or lockpicking a found stash
