What Land Vehicals Would You Want From DayZ Mod In DayZ SA (Multiple Choice)
Duenan replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
I want normal civilian cars and vehicles. Perhaps a moped. Police Cars. Ambulances. Regular Sedans. Vans. SUVs. Farm equipement like Tractors, bulldozers. Dump trucks. I do not want just military vehicles spawning all over the place. That said there should be something like an Uber rare spawn with hard to find parts that is a APC since that would make sense in dayz -
Stop eating so much mcdonalds.... Seriously Don't run at full sprint all the time. I believe they added heart attacks to address this problem where ppl run at full sprint across the map. If you run at the regular joggin speed and take periodic breaks to search/eat/catch your breath you wont have an issue

Why are you against many military items in game?
Duenan replied to CrazyCorky's topic in General Discussion
There should be a focus on the reality of common ammunition types. .22lr 9mm 7.62 x 25 39 and 54 should be the main ammunition M4's are not commonplace in eastern bloc countries and 7.62 x 25 would make more sense for pistol caliber and sub machinegun as that is the Tokarev round. .22 lr and 9mm and 9mm kurz (.380) should rule the day as they are the most common rounds in the world for any civilian population. I do agree military loot needs to be scare in general and we should be finding more civilian weapons rather than tricked out M4's and DMRs -

The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)

The mini 14 is a great little gun but I'm not sure it would be in eastern bloc countries -
I've been waiting for the AK family of weapons. I personally am a fan of that platform IRL over the M4 Swiss army knife. I hope the ballistics reflect the 7.69x 39's power along with its short comings and the 5.45's inbetween status

I wanna prance down the streets of cherno in my hot pink dress with a tricked out M4! seriously though some fitted pants and shirts shouldnt be that hard. I mean really do I have to look like a butch lesbian just to live in the zombie apocalypse?
-
As in every postapo world Zombies should get dmg only from headshots/headhits.
Duenan replied to mpm470's topic in Suggestions
I heartilly agree. It would be the simplest way to make zombies more of a threat if only headshots mattered. A small hitbox with 2 or 3 zombies coming at you would spell certain death. Devs.....please get on it -
Survival is not just about looting canned food and ak47s
Duenan replied to Lady Kyrah's topic in General Discussion
This is not the US. It's supposed to be based on an ex-soviet country. While there would be arms there they wouldn't be the latest and greatest. If you're using the Arma lore of chernarus then a civil war coupled with a zombie apocalypse would leave most of the ammo to being expended. Most police stations and military bases would have been overrun by a desparate populace so those places should be the most barren in the game. Not to mention the military moving its equipment to wherever it was needed. The military bases should be ghost towns when it comes to gear. The other thing is the game as it stands already hardly has much of a survival plot. You spend 30 min and can find a gun and a ton of food easy if you know what to do. Ammo should be the rarest thing in the game and you should find partial mags around with 2 or 3 bullets in them. Not full jammed mags everywhere. -

Duenan replied to CrazyCorky's topic in General Discussion
Because this is russia and in a post apocalyptic enviornment you would have military weapons but you would not have enough access to ammunition to justify luggin around the weapon. I could understand if this game took place in america where you have a very good chance on finding serious weaponry in normal civilian homes even if it is non full auto. I personally think guns should be plentiful but ammo shouldn't be. You don't find ammo laying around everywhere in reality and in a zombie apocalypse most of the ammo would have been expended already. Ammo should be a precious commodity. We're talking about a survival game here not a military sim. If you want all the weapons and crap just play Arma2 or Arma3. This is not supposed to be Arma3 It doesnt even make sense from a rural chernarus perspective. A bunch of poor farmers have DMR's and Bizon's and FN FALs all over the place with the ammo to boot? Assuming since you enter chernarus some time after the chaos has ended, don't you think everybody would have already looted abandoned military installations? -
Yeah I thought about it but ruled it out as people would just gear up chars and swap things between them. It would totally screw with the survival thing and the perma death if when you die you could just get your other char to the spawn point and dump a bunch of gear there and relog in

Duenan replied to alexeistukov's topic in Suggestions
I thought about some guns that would be good and add a different dimension to the game if you can add in smaller 380 or a sub compact 9mm auto pistols that have different slot variations because they are small guns and not full size. A walther PPS Or a Kel-Tec PF9 This would allow holdout guns that are smaller and take up less room in the inventory but have limited capacity and if a 380 Auto. Maybe a little less effective but incase you run out of ammo they are a backup weapon. These small carry guns also would have limited accuracy inside of a 100 yards due to their size. But I think they would be an excellent edition -
Common sense things. Right now zombies dont respawn so if you come to an area with no zombies. Watch out. Also be aware of what buildings have open doors naturally and what areas' don't. Sure fire give away someone is around are a bunch of open doors. Also be tactically aware if you feel something is up. If you going inbetween alot of buildings that could be open, Slice the pie as you go around corners and entry ways. If you don't know what slicing the pie is here is a vid Other than that stop look and listen. Its easier to pick out movement when you're not moving so find a cover position look and listen for movement

I'm no stranger to Dayz after playing the mod but this week i finally decided to break down and buy the stand alone. For the longest time I was roaming around on populated servers without seeing a single soul. I had started my character in Solnichny and moved across the map west ending up an Stary Sobor and then the airport. From there I geared up to the max with top equipment and decided to head back down to see what Dayz SA had done with Cherno. From there it was apparent the glitches would get me and today was a particularly bad day. I had roamed through a deserted Cherno fully expecting an onslaught of snipers from the commie block but there were none to my dismay. This however brought other issues. Mostly glitches which resulted in me loosing nearly half of my top gear supplies from the NW airfield as my backpack dissappeared into the ground. Luckily I still had my tricked out M4. Er nope. I lost that too as it dissappeared into the ground while I attempted to put on the bipod attachement. Needless to say these things thoroughly pissed me off to the point that I through all logic and reason out and decided to head to the nearest airfield to resupply. The only weapon I had on me was my trust FN 45 and my axe. I only had 1 fully loaded mag for the FN as all my other gear was lost to my dissappearing backpack. It was then that things got interesting. I saw the barracks by the balota airfield and all the doors were open. I imagined that the place had been thoroughly shaken down already as this was something I was accustomed to by now. An area with all opened doors but the survivors had long since moved on since it had been a while since the server restart. I was looking for scraps mostly but still kept up my caution going through the barracks being sure to slice the pie at each entryway. I was on my 2nd barracks when it happened While slicing the pie on the 2nd room in the barracks a shot whizzed by my head from the window outside. I had just enough time to yell "GODDAMIT!" Into the mic as another round hit me in what must of been my left arm as I was partially exposed. I instantly did a partial mag dump into the window discharging 13 rounds in a second. Then it was quiet. I waited for a second wondering if he was dead but then I heard the foodsteps. He circled around to the entrance of the barracks to finish me off. My character was shaking heavily but I turned to meet him in the doorway firing my last three rounds until. CLICK! CLICK! CLICK! DAMMIT! He was hit and bleeding profusely directly infront of me. I quickly ran past him out the door and spun around in time to see him drop to prone. I didnt realize it at the time but one of my shots must've broken his legs. He spun around trying to get his rifle out to finish me as I frantically tapped my hotkey for my axe. It was gonna be crazy and brutal. We dance around eachother and he inched backwards as my axe finally found his skull. I swung and swung again until he stopped moving. But it wasn't over yet. I lost alot of blood and was going blurry and grey quick. So I frantically tore through my supplies only to find my medkit was completely destroyed. I then doubled back to his body to loot his medkit only to find the same thing. It was then I tore off my shirt shredding the brown hoodie to make life saving rags and quickly patched myself up. Then I looked at this idiots inventory and realized he was an asshole. He must've been server hopping at Balota because the only thing in his inventory was ammo for his weapons in every single protector case he had. It was then that it occured to me that I had killed my first bandit in Dayz SA. My character then made a mad dash grabbing his revolver and SKS before dissappearing into the woods beyond Balota airfield. This is why I stay away from the coast. And to whomever it was that tried to kill me today... may you burn in hell

Yeah I definately won't now. But the good thing is I got to make a neat courier's pack. That is a great skin too btw
-
How do you people run into eachother? I know u can find ppl if you want to hang out at the spawn points or sit outside of cherno and elecktro and snipe ppl But GEEZ! The closest I came to someone was finding a bunch of opened doors and lack of zombies at a military base.. Then again I don't just stay in cherno and elecktro. I really hope the devs randomize the spawning points so that you can spawn anywhere on the map It would make thing SO much more interesting

Well I finally found someone but he wasn't very nice http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/175844-my-first-kill-is-dayz-sa/

PROOF from Ukrainian uprising the PRESS VEST WORKS!
Duenan replied to Mr Jizz's topic in General Discussion
press vests are lvl IIIA vests designed to stop small caliber rounds up to 45 hardball. Anything that is hollow point or fired from a fair distance would be stopped by that vest. Unless it had rifle plate inserts it would not stop any projectile from a rifle so most likely it was not a sniper round like they are saying but some handgun round. He is still indeed very lucky and should make sure he doesnt have any extensive internal damage as soft vests like that do not protect against blunt force trauma of getting hit -
Just an addendum in reality as soon as places are abandoned the wildlife starts coming in immediately. This should be especially obvious in a place like Chernarus that is largely rural. As soon as the population died out when theres no air conditioning windows would crack. Seeds and underbrush would start creeping into buildings and there would leaves inside buildings especially in the fall in which dayz takes place. Also I'd like to see some cracked up pavements with grass coming out. Little things to flavor the ambience
-
I thought about this too. I could agree dayz would benefit more from more artistic direction. Even though this game is currently a standalone it doesnt really feel like it to me. I've play dayz since the mod and this feels like a mod of a mod of a mod. There's too much arma in this game still. It still feels like arma 2 and I wish the devs would break away from that. I understand they are working on technical aspects of the game and core function but beyond that by the time this reaches beta it really should be its' own game and it's own world. Chernarus is Arma. I dont mind the russian feel or eastern european feel but make it stand out a bit. Add in some flora and vines overgrowing some buildings or perhaps some leaves inside some of these buidlings that have open windows. Just small artistic things will add a lot of flavor to this game

It sounds overly complex- just bring the camera closer to the player in an over the shoulder mount and that would do the same exact thing in bringing 3ps field of vision closer to fps
-
Personally I'd like the over the shoulder camera for thirdperson. I think the centered third person perspective is a little out dated because it forces you to swing the camera at the ground when you need to interact with something on the ground instead of an over the shoulder perspective that is very close to a fps with the addition of a slight blindspot on what ever shoulder the cam is mounted at. I really wish dayz had over the shoulder. I frequently find myself having to switch between fps and 3ps when looking at an object because the camera angle on 3ps is too high up. It's effectively like i'm standing on my character's shoulders. With the proper orientation of a 3ps camera you can still have an effective vanity mode that eliminates 3pp exploits and gives you a closer vantage action point. The further a camera is from the action the less intimate it feels. The higher up the camera the more chance for exploiting. Please please please devs consider over the shoulder camera for 3ps

I hope you guys can add them in. secondary and tertiary threats would add more ways to die I heard there was some issue with dog ownership regarding using an animal but even if that was scrapped a blind enemy ai for dog packs would be great
