    Your first murder

My first kill actually occured the first time i ever played the game. So keep that in mind, while judging my noobish behaviour. Right, so i was in Berezino (didn't know that at the time though), freshly spawned and eeger to get some loot and some friends. I noticed there where almost no Z. At least way fewer than i had imagined, so i really wasn't that careful. I got my hands on a backpack and a fireaxe right away, finding all the awesome equipment you want as a noob, food, water, compass, and i decide i want to make it up on one of the rooftops to maybe get a glimpse of another survivor. So i do. And i spot one and since i just a minute earlier learned how to wave, i wave. Because... You know... That's what you do. He freezes in his tracks, looking up at this stranger wearing a robbermask and a hardhat looking like a fool. Must've been quite traumatic. We meet at the bottom of the ladder and he writes me on the chat, asking about water. And i had water so i dropped it on the ground. This was back when anything you dropped would appear half-a minute later, so he never saw me doing it. I didn't know the hotkeys to chat so i had to look it up, pressing ESC. While in my menu this guy started to punch me so i quickly ESC back out and put my axe in his face. My first murder. I felt horrible. At least i learned how to use the chat now. So... Yay..

Since all loot on any spawnlocation on most servers are already looted (and won't spawn back just yet), i'd say it's anyones choice. The game is now actually harder for a fresh-spawn than intended (and it's intended to be pretty fucking hard). So if you can't manage the couple km to travel without food/water/weapon it takes to survive, you do what you must to get to play the game. I personally do the traveling-bit once i freshspawn, but i enjoy the intense uncertainty and the sneakyness combined with "Man, i hope i'm not lost". But i get people who gets frustrated when every toolshed has been looted in a mile radius.

Impossible to be "Friendly" in this game. Resorted to Banditry.

This. Don't be naive. It's a cruel game and it will kill you. And if i see anyone at any airfield or military-base, unless it's a poor bastard with a motorcycle helmet and a pipewrench, i'll shoot him in the face or run the fuck away. It's very very simple logic we're talking about here. You go to these places 'cause you want the big loot. If anyone sees you in one of these places, he'll think either "Fuck, that bastard is taking all the loot." and try to kill you. Or "Fuck, that guy's bound to have some awesome loot", and try and kill you. And even if he isn't trying, you can't be sure enough to ever trust a guy in these places. Survival 101. I have only been shot once outside one of these killingzones, and that was the only time i got really pissed off. I was in this little pretty town, i think it was Polana, just minding my own, trying to find some food and as soon as i got out of one of the houses, a bastard shot me. Luckily he didn't kill me and eventually i got away. This pissed me off 'cause i was wearing a crappy jacket, a childrens backpack, a hardhat and a pipewrench, in a low-quality loot area. The fucker who shot me could've robbed me instead and gotten away with my fancy duct tape and my badly damaged pipewrench. I wasn't carrying and he was. Or he could've helped out. Or just ignore me. I wasn't stealing any of his fancy loot. So yeah, he just shot me because he felt like ruining someones day. The other times i've been killed i had my own dumb self to blame. You don't play around when there's fancy loot around. I wouldn't shoot anyone outside of these killzones on sight. I would definitly shoot back though. But if i saw you first, i'd play it nice. Safe, cautious and smart, but nice.

I'd say, for the spawn- delay to actually work it has to be way more intimidating. A couple of hundred seconds won't stop nobody from server- hopping. One way to actually make it a bit more intimidating (though, far from a proper solution) would be to increase the timer each time a player logs off, starting at 250 seconds, and doubling itself each time. First log off: 250, second: 500, third: 1000 Also, to counter that, an in-game timer would have to be implemented, where a first offence would take, say, 15 minutes to be set to zero. A second offence would then take 30 minutes in-game before you could log out and back in without delay, and so on. This might piss off some players, having to wait a couple of hundred seconds before being able to switch to a server your friends play on, but i'd say it's worth it. At least until they have come up with a proper solution. Another soloution, which someone mentioned above, would be to have no-log off -zones, where you simply can't log off, and if you forcequit or lose connection in such a zone, apply a spawn-timer set to, say, 15 minutes. It might not STOP the server hopping, but it would at least make it a fuckload more time-consuming. Edit: spellcheck
