Evening all. Seen a few posts on here regarding navigation. Me and my friends use an app called iZurvive (iOS & android). It's very good for seeing both satellite and map views of the world as well as interesting landmarks as well as military bases, water sources (ponds & lakes) and other useful information. On top of this you can create a 'group' and invite your friends to join the map. We've used this to pinpoint our own locations as well as rendezvous points. Would highly recommend this as it's helped me and my friends immensely. Toot

To be fair the the OP I wanted to kill off my charecter (I spawned down near electro but my team were up near balotela (however you spell it). I aggro'ed a Z and it took at least 30 hits to even make me bleed.

I like the shotguns. I've always had a thing for shotguns in games. In fact does anyone know if you can use the hacksaw on the shotgun to saw off the barrel?

...and I've never felt so guilty from playing a game and 'killing' two fellow players. Hello all, first post here. Just thought I would find a forum to discuss the game which I started a couple of evenings ago and have already logged over 15 hours. So me and my friend where looting the airstrip, he'd been there earlier today on his own and suggested we both go back together (more for me than anything). I trekked west from Vysota and met him en route to the air strip. In the 15 hours of 'gearing up' we had only encountered one other player who disappeared into the Forrest upon seeing myself and my 2 companions walking through a Forrest. We have decided to be neutral but swerve towards being heroes rather than bandits. We got into the airstrip and started looting the big hangers, we were in the corner facing away from the entrance trading items etc, but then I turned around and see two silhouettes against the afternoon sun... Now... Upon starting this game (I dabbled with the mod but didn't get on well with it) me and my friends spoke about how we would approach new players and showing the friendly emotes (hands up, waving etc). But we always thought we would have met someone out in the open or in a city. Not pinned in a hanger with no where to go. Me and the unfamiliar player closest to us froze and he just stared at me. His handgun was drawn and aimed at us, his ally was fumbling for his rifle (he had an axe drawn) but my attention was on the guy with the gun, before I could even attempt to communicate he shot at us and thankfully missed (or did I shoot first???), I took aim with my ww2 rifle and fired off three rounds, killing the player there and then. By this time his ally had started running across the airstrip for refuge or maybe a better vantage shot to take us out from the hanger (I later discovered he had a rifle with scope and bipod). I took him out with a single shot from my rifle.... Now first off, if you guys are on this server me and my friend would both like to apologise as we never wanted to intentionally kill you but simply panicked. Can anyone recommend a better way of approaching new people? And if anyone else have had a similar first encounter like mine? Toot

To be honest think the games a bit easy mode at the moment. I would rather it take a lot longer to find an m4 as I would appreciate it more.

I fully agree. Me and 2 friends normally play together and when we logged on one of my friends spawned at the bottom of the control tower at the air strip west of chapavek. There was a guy above him camping the control tower so we decided to go and retrieve our friend from the CT. I went south to the barracks of the airstrip and covered the tower with my Mosin & scope whilst my two friends negotiated the safe extraction. Whilst this was happening I was attacked by a zombie and it was the first time I actually felt a real threat from a zombie in a standalone and certainly made me think about them more. Anyway, the guy opened fire on my friends as they left the tower and killed one of them, I stay put as I thought he would try to follow my one remaining friend and this exactly what happened. Killed him in the end :)

Space hopper!!!

I had this problem last night and it ended up wiping my charecter. My friends couldn't see me and I couldn't see them. I couldn't emote or draw a weapon either. Very strange!

As the title says, I logged last night and have just attempted to log back on back I'm stuck under the house. It's a 2 story house which you can gain access to the 1st floor but the ground floor is inaccesable (or so I thought) I've just logged on and I seem to have fallen through the floor and can't get out. Anyone have this happen and more importantly is there a way to get out? Ta,

...and I'm not even mad! When I bought the game, I understood that it's still in very early alpha stages and was always worried that if my character reset I would hit the roof. However I'm actually looking forward to starting over again. Just spawned east of Berazino and have already found a massive backpack, mouser (no ammo) and an axe. The way I glitched out was a bit strange? Is there anywhere we can submit bug reports? Toot

Seriously though. As someone mentioned above most apocalyptic scenarios (world war z, Morningstar, walking dead comics and many more) have an element of cannibalism and let's face it, even in real life events there have been recorded incidents of cannibalism in extreme survival situations. I think the best way to do this would be to offer the choice of cannibalism in extremes circumstances, for example you and your friends are miles away from safe haven, out of food and one of you have sustained a broken leg. Your both on the verge of starvation so instead of just dieing you have the choice of sacrificing yourself so that your friend may carry on (and hopefully save some of your gear!). There should be a penalty to this (again as someone mentioned above) with a chance of contracting some sort of illness, or maybe something like having to carry on cannibalising as you grow dependant on human flesh (maybe some sort of hybrid infection or just a general blood lust). Yes... I said it... Hog tie a captor. Carry him/her back to camp ties to a long pole/length of wood. Devour victim to replenish energy. Now imagine this but as the victim, how fucking scary would it be, being carried off by other players only to be butchered on a stone slab... Thoughts?

Superb! I know 15hours isn't very long but I thought it worth mentioning lol. And to everyone else thanks for the general advice. In looking forward to logging on later tonight and trying to make contact with some other people, without slaughtering them or indeed being slaughtered.

To be fair I'm relatively new to the game and have just read a few threads about people being 'heroes' by going out of there way to help people (offering food/drinks, meds etc). I can remember watching a youtube vid last year of a guy who was considered an 'angel' (sounds really gay I know) but this guy was intense, he would go miles out of his way to help injured players or to even help kill bandits, I just thought it was a pretty cool concept and to be honest I think the whole 'surviving' concept at this point in the alpha will get pretty boring pretty quickly.
