  1. How eloquent. Figures though. Wouldn't expect anything more from the likes of you. Keep on riding that "muh alpher" dream though. It'll surely do you good.

    ~snip--pointless

I'm almost certain this is not the case this time. Just some minor tweaks that wouldn't really impact the current state of loot.

i can almost see you-- eyes gloss over, softly muttering "but i want, i want...." while drool rolls down your chin--does this happen every time you have to contend with the fact this product is still in alpha? "muh alpha"? it a simple fact, just accept that fact, it'll surely do you good.

i didnt see you credited as a Dev? how are you almost certain of anything regarding development? just some minor tweaks? glad to see abject stupidity isnt being completely monopolized by the Ark forums. congrats!! do you have a  Dev statement regarding how minor the change is moving .59 to stable? would love to see that shit...

  2. This is literally the meaning of alpha , not trying to sound like a broken record , but it literally is why the huge "I accept" words are where they are at the start of the game ... If you don't want to deal with wipes , unfortunately the only way to do that is to wait for full release D: !

still doing the dad'gum thing i see...commendable sir...beans for you

  3. its really not that difficult to understand--update, systems/mechanics change, trying to eradicate a bug/duping or whatever--will from time to time necessitate a wipe, regardless of what type of software it is....

the community demands updates/performance/bug fixes and then cries when it involves a wipe, which historically has been infrequent--like twice? if they are wiping its because they need too. its not because they want you to comment about it because they have nothing better to do

oh...and nothing can become (it either is or isnt) "vaporware" ....by definition vaporware is something that never existed physically...so no, it wont.

In the computer industry, vaporware (also spelt vapourware) is a product, typically computer hardware or software, that is announced to the general public but is never actually manufactured nor officially cancelled.

  4. sheesh....another one of these threads? figured BoneBoys would've suggested the search function....?

anyways...just added another 16gb of DDR1866 and a shiny TitanX and without the -newui start option (meaning i didnt try it) i really cant tell much of a difference with regard to DayZ (Exp). maybe 4-6fps increase... i havent had the chance to play the game much though (maybe 20-30 mins around Polana). settings are still the same from my GTX770 sli config. 1080, everything mostly maxed...hell, would have to check config file and everything else, so ya, idk...but no, the game is not optimized as of yet.

Skyrim with 300+ mods on a 750ti huh? def not running heavy texture mods or ENB's, and Ark is eating that rig alive...

Tatanko for the save  --always has good advice

  5. if you dont want to report bugs or the ones you are seeing are already on the tracker, then up-vote them--gives the Devs a better idea of how prominent the issues are because the "small pond" of internal/experimental testing might not reveal the issue as "game breaking".  merely a guess, but that seems what that system is in place for...idk. i have also found the DayZ experience to be somewhat "less" of late, so i figured i would take hicks_206's advice and just wait for the next iteration. there are plenty of other games out there worth your time, and thankfully most PC games dont carry the $59.99 price. if you have a decent system, Ark-Survival Evolved is alot of fun

i figure that the Dev's have the resources and the talent to do good things, now they just need the time to pull it off. i, for one, will happily give them that.

  6. that sir, is the mighty BoneWood of the phalusludicrous family, but it is inverted...the fluffy part is usually at the bottom. very close in relation to the commentustupidus, but typically stays hard longer, mostly found in forums. idfk?

this is not a /troll....please drive thru :)

  7. I lol'd so hard at this while perusing the Steam page for Arkham Knight this morning with my coffee. Since refunding Arkham Knight to Steam before buying it from PlayStation Network, the comments on its Steam page have been hilarious. Warner Bros. is getting what they deserve. Apparently (among a plethora of other fails) they hired a company named Iron Galaxy and only gave them two months to port it to PC from console. Why do they do it that way, anyway? Wouldn't it make much more sense to build the game on the solid foundation that a PC can provide as there are far fewer constraints, and then dumb it down for PS4 and XB1? -_-"

Getting back on topic, I installed DayZ on one of my old computers (AMD Phenom II X4 955/8GB DDR1333/180GB SSD/2GB GTX 760 ITX). It runs fairly well on normal settings. Just for kicks, I yanked out my two 980 Ti cards from my main rig and threw in the 760. Guess what? Even on maximum settings, DayZ ran exactly the same as it did on the 980 Ti. This was pretty much what I expected, but hopefully this thread can be used in the future to address the many "can I run it?"/"help me build a PC for DayZ" threads that pop up around here.

ya, i saw that and thought "Grimey will get a kick out of this shit"...the only thing i can think of as to why they would have developed it that way is the obvious...it was cheaper, and they didnt really give a shit. really tho, the only thing i know is they certainly were not doing it to insure a quality product.

you have a good point, i have several of my old rigs about still (a couple in use) and it would be interesting to see if something like my old E8400/8gb DDR2-6400/4-74gb Raptor/SLI 8800gtx 768mb machine will run it in a playable fashion. if it continues to rain like it has been the last 10-12 days i'll have the time this weekend. i never sell/trade or get rid of my old hardware since regretting losing my ancient voodoo2 sli setup so long ago. i'm a hardware whore, what can i say?

  8. hmmm...and Arkham Knight is removed from Steam

yeah...figure that shit out warner bros...

by the way...walmart isn't selling the confederate flag anymore either...draw your own conclusions

  9. totally understand your frustration. software is always behind hardware, and that seems more prominent each year...i mean...really, 64bit is just now becoming a pre-req? watchdogs has always been a bag of shit since day one, where they turned off all the shadows/shaders so the experience on PC would be comparable to console, essentially stuffing a fat goat dick up the pooper of all PC gamers, and really, all gamers in general. "oh, here are these awesome in-game teaser vid's"---get it, load it up all excited and it looks like something a mongoloid walrus drew on cardboard using its own shit, and runs even worse than it looks...sadly the vast majority of these clusterfucks are console ports, or a title that was developed primarily for console, pc as an after thought...or, of course, a title still in development, in which case...meh, is what it is.

op--i didn't get the 980's i was looking at, awesome card but...gonna hold out for next gen this time and put in a privacy fence instead

or i guess listen to ^^^

  10. So with an ALPHA sticker you can justify just about anything!!! Brake through deadlines? Alphaa! Stuck in development? Alphaaa!! Did not come to work today? Aplphaaa!

considering that is basically the definition of Alpha, i would say that yes, about anything can be justified up to and including halting development of said Alpha. Didnt really read all that legal mumbo-jumbo before buying it did ya? :)

  11. And I think I paid about fifteen. Basically, the price is still changing, and if you want to be taken seriously quote it correctly when you do.

for someone that also quoted the price incorrectly you sure like to point out others doing so...evidently you do not want to be taken seriously either. yes, the vast majority of purchasers paid the $29.99, as the price did not change until the fall steam sale of 2014.

quoted from PC Gamer, Nov 25, 2014

"Technically speaking, the first price hike is already here. Bohemia said in a press release that the current price of $30 will be maintained until the end of the big Steam sale, but it's actually already been increased to $35and then put on sale for 15 percent off, dropping it back down to the $30 mark until December 2. It will go up again to $44 when DayZ enters beta, currently planned for near the end of 2015, and then take a final jump to $50 when it goes into full release."

notice how they also quote the price "wrong"...so much for taking them serious i guess. so according to you, anyone that rounds up for simplicity is incompetent...yourself included

by the way--DayZ has never been $15--seriously

  12. I see, plausible, although is it really true that items like hats on the ground are rendered from 500m? Because whatever API they use this could be fixed in a blink. I'll check your solution to view distance changing (why is it not already in the regular settings menu btw?).

    Edit:

By lowering sceneComplexity to 250k from 500k, render frames ahead from 1000 to 1, viewDistance from 1000 to 800, prefObjectViewDist from 800 to 500, I gained 5-10% performance increase, not bad but no way near, and it made objects at even 200 meters away way uglier.

you have peaked my curiosity...so, using "whatever API" what is your fix? while we are at it, is it possible that any other change in the game could break your fix?

  13. thanks for the player stats--means nothing really, if you are considering buying DayZ, dont do it based on popularity. Maybe thats what alot of those "no longer playing" people did, as opposed to researching it/making decisions based off the facts. Also, maybe those folk are just playing other things. Nothing wrong with that, in no way means they wont be back later. the Dev's themselves have said they prefer people that get frustrated or feel they aren't getting the experience they want to just wait until Beta or even final release. this has always been the case since Rocket basically said dont buy it at the beginning of this thread. As far as the Dev's needing to speed up, i pray they dont see it this way--hopefully they see it as "we must get it right for sure now matter how long it takes, all of these folks bought the Alpha".

S3v3n--an opinion that doenst reek of entitlement--awesome and thank you (seriously). Ark is a great game, been playing it as well, but lets not pretend its perfect. its in Beta and it has a LONG way to go optimization-wise. it CTD sometimes and has framerate issues too, and if i see another 30 ton dinosaur stuck on a tiny tree i chop down with four punches... i'll...well, kill it...lol...easy meat/hide and XP...but it is kinda dumb looking/somewhat annoying and whats up with everything being based off of proximity? get your ax out, walk up to a tree, face away from it and chop it down. breaks the immersion a bit, but minor gripes. there are also some solid names associated with Ark, folks that have been around for a while with other big titles under their belts, so chances are it has been worked on/schemed over for quite a while. maybe they were just waiting on the right engine to be able to pull off what they wanted. at any rate it is a fine game, but a Beta (working the bugs out) which shouldn't be compared to a game still in Alpha (feature installation). anyways...you are correct, there are alot of folks that will be better served waiting for at least Beta.

  14. mostly agreed...in the small world of DayZ, or other small worlds (games, movies, your backyard) an individual that is the most knowledgeable will have gained that know-how through experiencing the environment. i could read all of the wiki's in the world to find out how to do things, but until i apply that instruction and experience the outcomes, i havent actually "learned" anything. i would only know how it works in theory. that is why i found your simple advice profound.

that said, to expect today's younger gamers to follow such advice is a bit futile, for all but the most patient will break out for a map/forum help/etc before giving themselves a chance to just wander about and wonder. nothing wrong with that, i just feel that it cheats a person out of the thrill of discovery somewhat, which for me personally, diminishes the overall experience. DayZ, while small in comparison to the actual world, shares alot of the same complexity. to that point, without an outside source of information, a new player may become bored because they simply do not know what is possible. i played for a meager 8-10 days (Mod) before seeking information outside of the game environment, and i think i enjoy DayZ more now because i tried to learn everything i could before getting "help", then. might not be for everyone, but thats what worked for me.

now...I'm off to get me a cow :)

  15. this is the DayZ forum, but my considered upgrade is not just for DayZ, although i am curious what Grimey will see fps-wise with the new cards on this game in particular. maybe nothing, maybe reasonable...until its done we dont know--yes i am aware of the the current state of the game.

micro-stutter has only been an issue a few times since i have run SLI systems, and that goes back to 12mb Diamond Monster Voodoo2's in the late 90's (totally different now of course, since 3dfx sold to Nvidia). of those few times, it was fixed with either a driver update or a patch for the affected application, or in configuration of the devices. given how well the new tech scales with most games, 2 way SLI is totally worth doing, 3 way there are somewhat diminishing returns, and i have never run 4 individual cards in SLI, the only Quad SLI rig being 2 GTX295's. micro-stutter is not inherent to all SLI configurations.

  16. I put over 300 hours into this game back in the day, not counting multiples of that in the mod, and I loved it to bits but coming back to SA recently yielded nothing positive at all. I made a ton of excuses for this game because it was early in development, I bought multiple copies of it for friends costing me well over £100 in total, and I'm sad to see it has not improved at all. In fact it seems to be worse and the population has dried up. I know they have added tons of town and items but considering how much time has passed I can't help but say the core game is broken beyond usefulness.

At this rate of development, I'm sorry, this game is never ever going to be finished. I used to constantly make excuses for the devs but this is simply an utter stillbirth, Dean made the right choice getting out to pursue other things instead of having the game hanging around his neck like a millstone for the rest of his career.

I know some people will be angry at this post. I never thought I'd be writing it, believe me.

i get that you are probably embellishing, but what? 900hours?

ish? total-Mod and SA? its evidently cheap entertainment if nothing else.  not sure what else i can get for three cents an hour, wouldnt even want to look. you're right, it sucks. i'd have figured that out back in the day holmes....but then so many hours after? you're vested...chill out and see how it plays out

    new folk:

buy it..play it right and you will almost live it (really, i have bushes as friends), there is nothing like it either way, wrong can be fun too. do your own research, make your own decisions, heed the warnings. after that its on you...buyer beware

    and enjoy
