    Authentication Timeout?

    i've had a "timeout" error for a few weeks now, (ghosting on/off, battleye on/off) basically makes it a dead server. players get about 15 seconds to run and then kicked, rinse...repeat...i was told to wait for 1.8.2 pm me and see if you can get in mine

  4. ...quick question regarding the "ghosting" thing...i saw in the patch notes that this can be disabled by server admin--that would be me--how do i disabled it and will that allow me to log in to my server and play?

  9. so after yet another complete re-install of server and client following kichilron's instructions to the letter, adding the -mod@Dayz results in Addon 'dayz_anim' requires addon 'CA_Dubbing_CounterAttack' and Cannot load 'ca\chernarus\chernarus.wrp i copied the Arma2 folder contents into Arma2OA folder and now no longer get the errors but still get the "authentication timeout". wish i could figure out what authentication its even referring to, because i have already successfully logged onto the server when it happens. i spawn in and can almost make it from the beach to the railroad tracks before i get the "authentication timeout" message. log on again and i start right where i was when i got the message, close to the RR tracks. weird, and i am totally stumped--(copied from my opendayz post) guess i'm just fucked
  10. guess its only us with this issue... one thing strikes me as quite odd...everytime i verify game cache Arma2 reports 2 files corrupt and reacquiring, ArmaOA always reports one file corrupt and reacquiring....same thing on my server, and other machines. after re-acquisition i will usually start both games to the main menu (have also done it without) and then attempt to get into my server, same authentication timeout shit. verify game cache again and guess what....corrupt files that need to be reacquired...tiring really as i have to do everything on 3 machines, server, main and test machine (yes three different steam accounts and all legit steam copies). was hoping someone might have some insight here...question had 17 views on OpenDayz, but no replies.... :(

    question about respawning

    so there are random stairs in the middle of nowhere? lol...ya, thats a tough spot to be in, doing the worm. a few options for you... 1. find morphine (unlikely) 2. remove shirt, tear into rags, find a bundle of sticks--make splint (also unlikely) 3. fall off of the same stairs a few more times and see if it hurts?? (wont work, but would be funny as hell) 4. find some water and drown yourself (should work, but might be a long haul--check map at dayz.db) 5. scream over voice (default is cap-lock i believe) for someone to come and kill you, maybe someone will hear and oblige 6. pick a direction and crawl good luck :thumbsup:

  13. so...any other info on an official patch for the broke ass patch? i have re-installed both server and client apps, tried every thing advised in this thread, all to no avail. was waiting for the next stableSA patch to drop and figured i'd just kick my dedicated box back on, update the to the latest Mod version and run around...awesome idea in theory, but thanks to BI's boneheaded patch and steams willingness to update to it, even when told not to it would seem, its been a clusterfuck of un-install, re-install, try this, regedit that...any idea when BI will fix this snafu? i guess i dont understand how BI would release a patch that could have these consequences, unless of course this was done as an intentional means to drive people to the SA. did they really not know that all of the Dayz Mod servers run 1.62.103718? not tryin to be all "tin foil hat", but wtf? fuck it....havent run a regular Arma2OA dedicated server in a while, and now that BI dropped the free server support for it (due to gamespy shutting down?) might even get some folks on it :P if anyone knows the w/w/w or timetable for the patch to fix the patch....holla!! :beans:

    DayZ SA Security Leak.

    I recall that, as i had been watching, anxiously awaiting that game. If i remember correctly it may have pushed back release a few months, but even that is unclear as Valve didnt give release dates until they knew the game was ready, always stating "when its done". HalfLife2 isnt DayZ, but the HL2 engine (included in the source code), also called Source, has been used for several very popular games, most of which have had huge online followings, some still to this day--L4D, TeamFortress2, L4D2, Portal1&2, CounterStrike (Source&GO)--so no lasting effects i'm aware of... Now take BI, and their engine, with which they are intimately familiar, and the fact that DayZ will not be "released" for quite some time, and I dont think there will be any real issues. the difference, i suppose, is that DayZ is available as an alpha, so hacking/scripts could increase and there will probably be more readily available private server files, but without there having been any user info compromised, i will save my panic for when/if there is something to panic about....i dont see the sky falling just yet.

    if my post had a voice you would be creeped out by how calm it would be, so no... you were clear in your perceptions of how they have so poorly managed things, but in fact they have done nothing terribly different than many other dev's/publishers. yes, it does matter to alot of people. the fact that it matters is great, people care about the game, but to act in an entitled manner and place your expectations on something that doesnt even have to be done in the first place, and then berate the methods they have chosen to communicate kinda makes the argument childish. they are communicating how they have chosen to...deal with it. if it changes great, but to think for one second your shitty post earlier is going to get any attention from anyone that matters is just funny. while in a public forum making a point you may want to base things off of common, known definitions, as thankfully we arent all in your head to know what your talking about....i call you butter, cause by my definition you qualify :thumbsup: read my mind..haha

    to all the pinheads that think they only have to wait until the end of the year for a "complete" game...um...the end of the year is when it is possibly going beta. not sure how much time any of the "mod this, mod that" folks actually have in playing the mod, and while it is excellent, alot of the things that are in the mod feel shoddy, hurried or contrived. hunting in the mod? walk up to a cow and stab it to death, then gut it, watch your steaks disappear into the ground as the cow vanishes. fuckin' A....just port that right over. the mod has been around for how long? yes ladders still kill you in the mod and a bonus...some doors still do to, or at least break your legs. the point is, the mod is just that...a modification of an existing finished game, similar to the BP mod for Arma3. it is my understanding that the majority of the SA is being built, ground up. for the time being there are placeholders that have been snagged from the mod (it would seem). i dont understand how everyone is so butthurt because they perceive that development is slow, when actually no one but the dev's know at what speed things are progressing. you types must be used to Madden, or COD that churn out the same cookie cutter shit every year. if thats what you are comparing to, then yes, "progress" is slow, and thank god. and AceTwat...i mean wtf? build whole cities, ladder system?, best hero/longest survivor, underground worlds? did you fuck up buy the wrong game? do you have to have a game give you a shiny star when you do something right? i bet your still looking for your K/D ratio in the menu's. i understand everyone has an opinion, but damn....to the dipshit that said something about "the first patch in 5 months"...math isn't your strong point is it? the game was released pre-alpha this past December. this is April, at least in the normal people world, which isn't...ah fuck it...that is just to stupid to even address. like they say, you can lead a horse to water, but you cant shoot it in the fucking head and chop it into little pieces whine on you crazy fuckers.... i am now...thanks for asking. *edit for clarity

    i agree. it would be better if they could be more clear regarding changes. i managed to shoe horn in about an hour of playtime last night, mostly at NWAF/Vybor. kewl to find loot back in tent city, but it was like you couldn't throw a stick without it hitting a pristine LRS...which is a bit much. i do like to be informed of changes, but it is also pretty sweet to just get in and see/find the changes. *right on dennisph

    you purchased a game in a pre-alpha state that has only been available for what?... about 4 months? and you got it a month ago? based on your obvious extensive knowledge, along with such viable sources such as random youtube videos and frankie you have come to the conclusion that the dev progress is slow? how many hours do you have in on the Mod? i love the Mod, but the SA experience is superior in my opinion, based solely on my time spent playing both. Maybe you'd like EA to pick up this title...they would just say its finished while laughing in your face. as far as you getting to play the game "you wanted to play" i think through multiple warnings they told you what game you were going to get to play, when it works and however it works at that particular point in time. unless you haven't read those warnings every time the game is started because your mom has to log you in...stop with the entitled attitude and have some patience for fucks sake. true dat bro...braggin all on that big team that was just hired a few weeks ago and has probably just settled in, trying to adapt to the project, coming up to speed with things...this isn't your job, they arent making sandwiches. so if you've w8'd 2-3 months for a minor update, what game have you been playing? and if the last update to stable was minor, exactly what do you think they should have had ready for a game that wont hit beta until 2015? you are not being realistic, you are being arrogant and ignorant... exactly when did the last update deploy anyway, asshats? i would give you both your money back, me personally, if only there were a way to guarantee neither of you would ever be able to play the game again or post in this forum.
