    How many hits?

saw this thread and thought....only 2-3 if its some dank ass shit :D thank god its friday..... :beans:
  2. i am aware of what the "hive" part of the term "private hive" means....this conversation reminds me of that hilarious dead horse mem you're right, i'm wrong... looking forward to the server files being released then...

    So... the sky... at night....

meh...daft threads such as yours provide the required ample reading material for my boring days at work...post on good sir  *edit-still cant spell
  4. you will have to excuse my ignorance, as "private hive" for a couple of years now has predominately meant a server that was hosted by individuals in the community, thousands of people hosting their own private hive, on their own hardware, their own bandwidth (whether it was a good thing or not in some cases). it was my understanding that common term would carry over, if nothing else to avoid confusion. my mistake. i look forward to "private servers" then....
  5. point to the spot again where i said the Dev's were making any money from forced GSP hosting? the dollar signs reflect cost to the consumer, meaning what i pay, not what the dev's make-- it is not a private hive, its a private shard because it costs extra, the ability to run a private hive is already in the game i paid for, once complete---which i said was fine and to be expected. i dont expect it to change soon, and i agreed its a quality control/control thing simply because its early in development. are you stating it was announced as a "private hive"? it was not, it was announced as a private shard, with the difference being it will cost more to host it through a GSP, and game owners will not be able to run their own dedi server...surely you can see the difference?
  6. must've missed that, as i read it they were labeled as a private shard, which i'm sure was termed as such deliberately. had it been announced as "private hive", then tons of people would be expecting to host their own server, as it was with the Mod, not through some GSP, so essentially you guys are holding private hives for ransom? if its truly a private hive, why should i have to pay a inflated amount of money to some provider that may or may not do an acceptable job? i didnt spend the money i have on hardware or arrange for the bandwidth i have available to then turn around and pay someone else "because you says so"....what criteria must be met to be a GSP? uptime %? i understand that its still under development, and that the files wont be released until complete further down the road (as it should be), and that this is probably a quality control measure, but its also simply a "control" measure. private shard=$$$$ hosted only by GSP, zero control over server private hive =$ hosted by gamers for gamers, and sometimes just for ones self--total control over server looking forward to real private hives being available *edit-spelling

    So... the sky... at night....

from the 20 Oct 14 status update; ------ Chris / Lead Artist"This week, I'm taking a look at our skybox and lighting settings to see if there is opportunity to improve the experience visually - particularly at dawn/dusk and night. I'm hoping that we will find a way to add the milky way spiral arm visible in the night sky to our game.------ hoping to hear more about this sometime soon

    Long time,

if its dayzdb map of chernarus+ all those little heli and car symbols are simply spawn points, and most are approximate...dont go to one expecting to find something, but check enough of them and you will run into something....eventually... as said above, there is the one truck for the moment, and i think only 3 spawn per server, and they are not persistent, meaning if you have one you will lose it at server restart. welcome back  edit*spelling
  10. its unbelievable how snivelly folks get about losing some gear or their 20+ hour investment in a toon. i can sympathize somewhat as it is frustrating, but you have to realize the state of the game you are playing. as an example: i host a life is feudal server, a game that is also early access, and deal with frequent updates. one of the latest updates they changed how they were doing storage, added degradation, etc. the largest changes came to using "bags" for storage (drop one item on the ground, its in a bag which then allows you to place alot of other shit in it). the only warning given was that the bags would now degrade and there was a limited time to build other containers and get your items out of the bags. what they failed to mention was that once the server was updated, everything in the bags would be gone. i figured i would have the aforementioned time before the bags would degrade...turned out not to be, and i lost 99% of everything i had grown, crafted, collected, etc. over the entire time playing. the only things remaining are the structures i built. basically i lost 132 hours of game play, fortunately other players losses were minimal... guess how much crying/bitching/snivelling i did on their forum? not a fucking word....its an alpha and i accepted that fact when i bought it and decided to play it in its current state. nut up, shut up, and gear up ffs edit*clarity
  11. ah...but what a glorious massive clusterfuck it will be...i for one cannot wait for private hives. the ability to run a dedicated server is a big selling point and something i always love to see with any game i consider playing. my own hive means i do not get to play with as many other people, but will guarantee to a much higher degree the quality of player for those encounters....90% loner/small group player anyway, much more into the survival aspect, and a private hive is the only real way i see to make sure the "fuckery" level stays tolerable. no, i will not host a "9000 vehicle, auto refuel, self blood bag" fiasco, but hey....to each their own.... bring on the clusterfuck :beans:
  12. love to help wherever i can, have been a hardware whore for a little over 16 years. cool story associated with that rig...have worked in various computer shops over the years and i'm always amazed at what people will just abandon at the least sign of trouble. my last 775 rig was the 9550 (OC 3.16ghz) on a P5NT-Deluxe pimping a CooliT Domino AIO water cooler and its still in use purring along just fine. had a GTX295 in it but now that its my download machine i retired that card to my collection (GTX7950x2, 9800Gx2, and a GTX 460 @Win). my "funnest" computer is my ol'X58 build, done up in a hacked up ancient huge server tower that is my secondary/guest gaming rig sporting its own steam account--sucks buying games twice..... X58 Sabertooth i7 920 OC to a mild 3.6ghz 12gb DDR 3 1600--actually went with a SuperTalent kit, and has been awesome 120gb Revo Drive--PCIex GTX570 SLI (soon to be 580 3gb SLI to cheap to pass up) 2x PcPower and Cooling turbo 1k PSU--yes 2000w... Coolermaster 520--have a spare Corsair H100, just havent managed to fit it in...haha 3x 20" dell monitors in surround, or a single 27" depending on games crap altec speakers its ugly...lmao...maybe i'll post some pics when you say water cooling are you doing custom loop stuff or AIO? *details, details...lol
  13. kich definately has ya fixed up as far as a mobo. sabertooth are my go to mobo, have the x58 & x79 versions, 5 year warranty is a good touch, although i've never had to use it. the RAM is a solid option as well, although i usually do Corsair Vengence/Dominator stuff. speed difference in RAM is negligible for gaming, video editing is a different beast, and more is always better, depending on what software you are using for editing. some of the guys i know swear by nothing less than 32gb, but they also have quadro's and money isnt an issue (business expense/tax write off) as far as an SSD, i recently picked up both a 256gb M4, MX100 512gb (Crucial, made by Micron) and a Kingston V300 (havent used yet, no opinion) and am quite happy with them both, very fast and no issues so far. i am used to Intel SSD's, and love their toolbox software--guess thats my only bitch about the Crucial stuff is no dedicated tool, but a properly set up OS will handle trim and prefetch crap anyway. you can get the Intel 160-180gb off ebay for $50-65 (yes, SATA2 and used, i have 4 and not a single issue) and in Raid0 they are very fast and maintain that speed well. OS and apps on one SSD and use another one for scratch file screams...the crucial drives are 6gbs, which is what that board will have, there is also SSD caching on that board which is very nice (pretty sure it is on z97) should be a sweet build for you...throw an 8gb 980 at it and call it a day (big help with rendering, although AMD still does it the best, GPU wise) let us know how it goes.... *edit-clarity

    Some DayZ Facts About You...

fact-- if you let your Dayz Mod (1.8.2) server run for 30 days without restart you end up with a shit ton of heli crash sites (i counted 24 at and around NWAF,), and while there was a noticeable frame drop around them it was still quite playable...oh the loot

    Run or kill yourself?

everyone else can do as they plz... as for me? i have and will always take the spawn i am given and run as needed....to me that is the game.

    Need some advice please.

games do get cheaper (usually) as they age. this, however is not a "game" just yet, as it is in early access alpha. i believe the dev's or members of the team have stated the price will increase either as the project nears completion or when it hits release candidate status. either way i would go ahead and get it, whether it increases much in price or not down the road, which is a long one yet according to Hicks, 1.5 to 2 years. for me it is perfectly playable and enjoyable, even in its early state.
  21. i'm just waiting for the point were you are so disinterested that you stop feeling the need to post about a game you admittedly cant bring yourself to play....which is fine, but why complain if you aren't even going to try it.....guess i could've waited until reading the entire thread to see if anyone else had the same thought....meh, i'll find out soon enough
