Is it worth buying Dayz standalone yet? [With Developer responses]
thznutz replied to Blade4777980's topic in General Discussion
um, actually its $34.99...so not sure how you are all on some high horse about accuracy. perhaps you want me to break the price down on averaging daily sales since it went into pre-alpha? given that you "havent noticed anything but glitches in the last two years" (too funny...2 years) i figured it would be a stretch comprehension-wise to get what i am talking about. i wish i had posted my comment before you bought it, because you obviously dont meet what i consider the basic requirements to participate, and perhaps that may have dissuaded you from this purchase. agree/disagree idgaf---but to say nothing has changed in 2 years (is it December already?) or that an Alpha is broken (just wow...kinda supposed to be at this point) is...well....just ridiculous *yup--edited for clarity that will be lost in the fog of "i'm right DayZ sucks" -
i have used Win10 since the first technical preview and have had no issues running any modern game. this has been on several different hardware configurations. some config's produced better fps, etc but only the older config's would i consider unplayable. it will depend, as always, on your hardware. Dayz, 7D2D, LiFyo, Stranded Deep, The Long Dark are a few that have worked well for me under Win10. Gotta love the dipshit haters everywhere

i wondered where all the asshats were posting their demanding "its been three years and nothing has changed" "fix it now" and "dean is masturbating with my money" comments. 1000% laughable amusing goodness...and all over a $30 game. just awesome....please continue the idiocy :) to all the others--yes it is worth buying with caveats--realize it is early access and all development branches are for just that, development of the game. stable branch will be, well...the "most" stable but it is only meant to be "playable" and will of course, overall, be broken. if you have 4th grade reading and comprehension skills you will know not to expect everything to work perfect (and sometimes not work at all) because that is what you will agree to when you purchase it, and you will have to agree again every time you play it. if you are easily frustrated, believe fox news doesnt skew every story, hold things you have no control over to your own irrational expectations, lack patience, or are afraid to kind of "go it on your own", or want to cry about the state of something as opposed to take part in fixing it, then absolutely ffs do not buy this game. also, if being unsatisfied with a $30(+$4.99 for the fucktards) purchase will end your world, do not buy this game... i personally own 3 copies: main rig, guest rig, and one for my server when that option becomes available. 3 copies of Arma2 for the Mod also. i consider this game and the Mod both easily worth the money. *edit always -
Great report...thanks

so are you speaking for the 350+ or the 103448+ that own SA? i've hosted several different DayZMod servers but always came back to vanilla, the only iteration i haven't hosted is 1.8.5 as there were a few other games i wanted to try, and i'm still a little limited for space on the ol' dedibox. the other Mods, however enjoyable seemed forced. i too am waiting for modding, because at that point i will be able to host my own server on my hardware on my connection. the key word so far though is "waiting". some know how to and some dont. people genuinely desire lots of different things, for different reasons, most of which are beyond their control. my hope is that someday "people" will learn something i was forced to learn from both hardship and repetition. learn to be happy with what you have, when you have it. learn to wait with patience. you and the holmes arent digging SA right now? move on, rage quit, play something else to spite the DayZ godZ....just realize that you do come across as an impatient, demanding, somewhat insulting individual to suggest that the developers are fucking up their own game when it isnt even close to finished...have fun with your fifty bikes...i'll be busy in the trees and streets of vanilla *edit...nicely done BeefBacon, fucking hilarious *edit#2...my bad--roughly 103448 users based on $3 million in sales as of January of this year, figured by dividing by $29, which, while not the current price, was the price that the majority of folks paid. im not deluded, just usually doing 5-6 other things while posting, and possibly a bit dyslexic. as far as i know, where it stands on steams "most played" has nothing to do with how many people own it.

Final Thoughts from an Early MOD player....
thznutz replied to xalienax's topic in General Discussion
none of the Mods, not even vanilla, were "created" by one guy. rocket may have had the idea, but to say he wrote every script/texture/animation is just not true. that said, if i am wrong, i will happily eat crow if corrected by a dev or someone like R4ZOR49. i agree with badash, damnyour & coheed, all make valid points ...i enjoy both the Mod (mostly vanilla) and SA, but SA has never reproduced the same level of fear/anxiety that i had the first couple of runs in the Mod. i remember perfectly the first run...low crawling into Balotta airfield...getting eaten after finding my first rifle, thinking "i have a weapon, i am badass now". learning that zeds can climb ladders...lol. the thing about it though is i never expected the SA to exactly replicate those first impressions. SA is filled with tension and in my estimation, more immersive, and has been since released into EA, but regardless of what they do in SA, the Mod was first. that doesnt make it any better or worse, nor does it negate or lessen anything that comes after it. if people could learn to temper their expectations a bit i think things would be more enjoyable for them and all of these negative comparisons become moot...just my humble opinion. having said all that, i always get a laugh out of the "monkeys throwing shit" some of these threads produce :) -
i am so sad...i had a wall of text post talking about several core things related to dev involvement...dammit backspace...was a real "oh no" moment...fuck 'n hell i love the dev interaction, makes it personal, which is what this game is...every time i roam the forest. i want them to do exactly what they have been doing for several weeks now (for a longer bit actually). keep us informed as best they can about upcoming changes/implementation. if, and i get the idea they are, smart folk...they pay attention to the suggestions section, and actually listen. responses there are difficult...ideas without knowledge of the system are just ideas...the "if's" are larger than most understand. they have asked for your opinion on things, and even support a large forum so you can give those opinions. i feel like they should just take the data they are given and make the best choices for the game. at this point, those of us outside of the creative/collaborative process should concede to those that are actually doing it, trust that they listen but stay true to what they already decided this game would be...a stand alone, purpose built interpretation of the Mod, that will support modding (that in itself is nice). DayZ will be what is has been, a hauntingly familiar, infinitely varied road to death. we are the variable. the game is what it is... on a personal level, i dont want them to discuss everything they have up the proverbial sleeve. kinda takes the fun out of wandering the forest...and finding a base will just entice sniping...that sounds fun...gonna go watch me some tents...haha

Hicks is the little smiling face on each bullet i load, whispering sweet nothings as i sight in targets through my LRS..."yeah...huhuh...yah....kill'em" and yes, the dev interaction in the forum is excellent...thanks for making the time

my apologies Mr. Hicks_206, as a parent i typically use phrases to generally describe an action or behavior to avoid actually being insulting to my children. IE: "you sound like...", "you are acting like...." as opposed to "you are a/an...", etc. i have tried to use those methods here because.....well....you know better than most i am sure. i was merely trying to convey my interpretation of the attitude of a previous post back to the poster, as i truly think that sometimes they seem to have no idea how their post reads. i will of course concede to your wishes, as this is your house, and as a guest here i must abide by the rules in place (and mostly do). you and the rest of the dev/forum team have always had and will continue to have my support. thanks for the massive time waster...um, i mean...game  :beans: *oh...and thanks for taking away my at work entertainment (the F**k this game thread). i certainly understand why though, it was a cesspool of ignorance and hate. kinda fun to poke fun at while bored tho :D

i'm not sure how the dev team could be anymore complete or transparent. not so many months ago there were alot less information mediums represented, and for the sake of sharing information the dev's/forum team have made alot of changes...all to facilitate transparency and the dissemination of information in a more complete and concise fashion. i for one congratulate them on what i think should be the standard for all Alpha/Early Access games. i own many Early Access games, and DayZ's methods are by far the best. disagree all you want, but you should really look at what you are disagreeing with? not getting what you were told you would get or because you didnt get what you wanted...? 90% of the issue is people expect things they should not. to temper those expectations, really read and understand the warning you agree to every time you play DayZ and take it to heart...everything would be better if people could do that one simple thing. @S3V3N--you sound like an entitled child that cant understand to just take what you are given, when realistically the dev's owe you nothing more than what they choose to give you. "if you cant do it how i want you might as well not do it at all" mentality has me questioning if you are stomping your feet or rolling around on the floor while/between posts. be part of the solution, not part of the problem ffs.....

Thank the buhjeebuss like a church full of cheeses...never have i been so happy to hear that you guys are sticking to the plan of the "anti-game". my first experiences with the Mod (seems so long ago) and its full on scarcity through different versions are the reason i bought DayZ. hell, until about a month ago i still had my 1.8.3 vanilla up...speaking of which i am very much looking forward to hosting my own private hive in the future...keep up the great work guys!!! all the fuckin' :beans: 's in the universe

Namalsk is both a map and a Mod. BP and Epidemic had some similar systems.....take heat packs to the oil rig if you want to search all of it and leave the heli running, maybe hang out and snipe...Epidemic had bots to fight too, as well as decent zeds.... hope you're just being honestly sarcastic...not real sure what )) means to be truthful.....i have imagined, and other than some balance issues and coming up with a better way to inform us of our condition i think the complexity is there...i mean unless you want to have to poop too... *clarity -

off topic--The Long Dark...awesome game, have been playing it... not sure that can really relate to DayZ, other than a kind of "see how hard this is, make DayZ harder". we will have world containers, and guess we will wait for predator animals....escape a town full of zombies using the last of your ammo to run smack into a pack of wolves as you crest a hill....hells ya!! on topic--haters hate hateless hating for hates sake!!! -
those that have constructive criticism are not included in the "alot of people" i am referring too. saying something is broken, when it is obviously not as intended, is not constructive. complaining is different than constructive criticism. you seem to be interchanging them at will and that will only confuse folks..... what we have so far is what we have been told we were getting...so far. i want more, smarter zeds that are a true threat, and while i enjoy the survival aspect i think it will also be improved upon greatly, given more depth and difficulty. ill-informed players can only complain, unless they luck upon something constructive.....even a blind squirrel will find a nut sometimes, so i wont claim its not possible. the only true constructive criticism mechanism in my opinion is the bug tracker.....

How do you manage your real life and DayZ at the same time?
thznutz replied to john5220's topic in General Discussion
happiness wears many hats..... sounds like you just need to focus and manage your time better (or some at least). i use DayZ as an "escape" from real life, not a substitute for real life. due to being a bit more established and a very understanding wife (really, she knows she has no choice in the matter) i can pretty much play it whenever i want. i work my 45-50 hours a week, and "play" at least that much--not always DayZ though--not always a game...also play guitar/bass, do home recording, and in the fall i live high school football...literally. now that i am talking about it, i think i could use better time management/focus...there is alot of shit to do around the house....fuck...thanks guy, now i'll feel all guilted out if i play tonite :D take care of whats important and everything else will take care of itself.... -
right on man....twas my "edit for clarity"... :D

this is whats wrong with alot of the people that bought DayZ SA in EAA, and consumerism in general. they are mediocre, ill-informed or flat out uninformed, and wont do a thing to change that, even it means just a few minutes of searching and reading. they see an explanation as excuses, because what they need is the desired result, usually "right now" if not sooner. they need this result because they had unreasonable expectations for the money they paid. when they paid said money they were told what their expectations should be, and this has to be agreed upon every time the product is used, but somehow magically does not change their expectations. be aware that only they are really aware of, and therefore responsible for, their expectations. they then usually are pissed off (or pissed of...lol) and proceed to badmouth the dev studio, neither of which has any real effect on anything, the exception maybe being "they's" blood pressure. the only thing that gets a bad reputation is "they", for remaining ignorant, impatient and still holding the same unreasonable seemingly unchangeable expectations..... i wish BI would've charged $300 for EAA, would've cut down on alot of the silly shit, they might have met their original goal of 250,000 testers, and still made some loot to further development. case in point, how many $300 ships has Star Citizen sold...last i checked (has been a bit tho') all you could do is walk around and look at your $300 investment.
