I'm not mad about it anymore. I have actually just come to accept that I'm likely to be killed by a hacker in this game. But I do have proof of the hack. We are in one of the two story red houses, a group of five guys. Door is locked, two of us are in the main entrance watching the door while the others are scoping out of the windows. All of a sudden M4 shots being fired and all of us died. It's a wall hack, then barely one hour later, same thing but in a 3 story apartment building. No windows around us, no alternate means of entry, watching the stairwell, and all four of us got killed. Four because one of our guys said screw this game after the first wall hack. Which honestly he could have gotten killed legitimately, three of them could have, but the two of us downstairs could not have been shot. It is simply not possible. I have the video of the first time, I can crop it and upload it to youtube upon request, but I'm wondering if this is already a known issue by Bohemia themselves and Battle Eye. If it is then I don't see the point of wasting my time to post the video but if a company personnel would respond asking for proof I will gladly upload it and then post it in the thread. So I hope for a response back.

For clothing like Rain coats, hoodies, and gorka jackets, I'd like to see the option to put up the hood. just a right click option in the inventory or something. It's a simple idea, and would be cool to see.

lol, I love that. "completely impossible." seems like other games got it right lol, along with cloaks and jackets that go below the waist. Just about every MMO game out there along with DMC, Elder Scrolls, fallout. lol Seems like an excuse to me. and to all the people, no I will not use the search function. They can merge my content themselves or lock me from forums, I don't care either way lol.

What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?

well see now, idk about that being a hack as much as it is just a bug on server launch, because I've had it where i'd get booted from a server and my buddies would see a message about me, I think it's just the client not responding message but I can't recall. But if it does that, then how would it be possible for someone to be using the ghost looting hack or things along those lines? I've been in servers that I would see that message displayed about someone but at some point one of us would just be losing all our gear mid run and it's not dropping on the ground either, it's just disappearing, so I assume the ghost loot hack. So there is something that they are doing differently than others that is bypassing that security. If that is the case, and if BE is doing that on start up, or on server launch, then maybe there needs to be multiple tiers of security upon the launch. Maybe on start up have a general scan, and then a more specific type of scan to bring up the server lists, and to enter a server another very very specific scan. Again, I am just talking completely out of my ass with this. I don't even know where to put in a graphics card off the top of my head let alone having even a general comprehension of what anti-cheats and the like entail. But I'd be more than happy to endure a longer waiting time launching the game and getting into a server if it meant good clean fun. -

So....I take it the hacker situation hasn't improved yet? They need to do something here because I really don't want to see this game die and its getting the point that I'm starting to worry with all the insults and harassment, which I was responsible for with 1 post as well, just make BI and BE just stop making the game as a big middle finger to all of us. Go the way of that one dude, Phil Fish, or whatever his name was lol. I do have one question for the BE staff along with BI staff, is there any way that there could be some deals made where steam could scan the game files for any changes, modifications, added files, and just not allow the game to launch on start up if any of those are detected? I have no idea how hacking works or even scripting, never looked into it or even gave a crap, although googling for news about a Ban Wave did end up bringing up a listing of a hacking forum which just made me sick to my stomach with people bitching about banned keys, looked at there rules out of curiousity and saw specifically "No Trolling" and I almost punched my monitor out of anger with hypocrisy. Anyways, before I ramble more, could a deal like that be done with Valve or just with you guys? -

I really hope so too man. Even with this massive population of hacks, I still absolutely love DayZ. What I really want to know though, is it so difficult to handle all these hacks because of the source code being stolen? or is that a completely irrelevant issue at this point or was it just a bs thread posted throughout the internet? I watch a lot of DayZ videos like Frankie and guys like him and he mentioned something called Breaking Point or something like that for the DayZ mod, as he explained it, it scans the computer for any modified files of the game and if there are any files that have been changed or modified it doesn't allow them to launch the game with that launcher so they are forced to play on the usual servers that don't use breaking point. Would something like that be possible to do with the launcher of the standalone? PS, if you look at threads about rumored ban waves that usually aren't found on this site, but on steam or reddit you will see the praise that I speak of. Granted you'll see a bunch of people defending the hackers "hypothetically, what if the hacker has learned their lesson" yada yada, we know they don't learn lessons, but you'll see a lot of BE praise as well. -

People that excuse the hacking by saying it's an alpha game right now, just stop. The GAME is in alpha but the anti-cheating is not in alpha, it's been around and in the same spot of development that it has been for a long long time. It's not a new thing, and it's way past beta testing let alone alpha testing. Also, in an alpha game, you expect glitches, deaths for no logical reason, texture bugs, etc, but what you should not expect, especially from a game that charges you for early access is over 50% of the player base (seemingly) teleporting, using god mode, infinite ammo, ghost looting, invisibility, force animations, yada yada yada. An alpha/early access game is no excuse for an anti-cheating system that has been in use for a long time now and still has not improved in the slightest. Its a highly effective system, notice after they do a ban wave, oh how great the game becomes once more and then people praise them "oh great job BE your so on top of things!" But the reality is they are not. All they do is ban waves, they don't consistently monitor any of their supported games even though that is what they are getting paid to do. Bohemia is just as much to blame for this, because with the money that they are spending on BE, they need to be pestering and hassling them to continue doing their job. Take that as you will, maybe you will think this is only opinion, but from my point of view, this is straight up fact. It's very sad when dying from a legitimate player feels like a special treat in a game, but my last 6 deaths have been from people teleporting from in front of me to behind me, or ghost looting me, then teleporting to me and just shooting me in the face. Every 2 to 4 months is when the hacking gets way out of hand, but the first month after a ban wave, holy shit I love the game then. -
This is something waaaay down the road, after the game is completed and additional content maybe starts getting considered, I would love to see a map of Prypiat. Do like a Stalker with DayZ survival, having to take radiation levels into account in the environment, on the food, etc. Like I said, not even worth considering as of yet, would just really love to see it.
-
Or dementia...which honestly would also be an awesome addition to this game, mental health.
-
you know, I actually thought of that too earlier today, if they don't want to add a new map, make a map editor available. I always loved doing that kind of stuff in games like Farcry. Hell I spent more time on farcry in the map editor than the actual game, both single and multi player

I don't see how it doesn't fit honestly, have you noticed the apartment buildings in novo and cherno and all those places already have a seemingly heavily influenced mesh of what one typically thinks when they think of Chernobyl. At least that's the kind of look I think of anyways, All I really want to see though pretty much an exact virtual replica of the entire area, Nuclear plant included. Radiation suits, Geiger counters, purifiers, radiation poisoning, all would be excellent installments to DayZ but needs to be placed within a reasonable location, which where better than a nuclear plant where a reactor has already gone nuclear. Plus I've been getting the itch to play Stalker, but don't want to leave DayZ, and I love the environment of Prypiat. And the northern subtown of Cherno really does not help that itch, because the look is there. Honestly though, scratch the whole map pack, more intricate buildings, like realistic Gulags, or power plants or prisons and all that, the map is huge, with tons of nothing in it, space that I'm sure will be filled out with more towns or cities, but old Gulags/prison camps, airports, maximum security prisons, and realistic power plants, sewer systems, metro tunnels, all that kind of stuff would honestly suffice perfectly for me. I love exploring in games like this, and I just can't help but feel the lack of need to explore, granted it is in alpha, but based on what I've seen on the mod, there isn't much in terms of exploration that will be getting added. I love the game, and would love it even more if they took that kind of consideration in their buildings. PS. These buildings; Gulags, max security prisons, massive power plants, sewer systems, shouldn't be repeated over and over again, One Gulag, One massive prison, one big nuclear power plant, only one of those buildings should be in the map, make it a fight for the gear that gets spawned there. A guarantee that interactions, or fire fights will happen there frequently. and the sewer system or metro system, all one big maze throughout the entirety of the map. A game called Nether did the metro thing right, however given their piss poor decision making with the "new cutting edge" mechanics of the game that took away so much from the eerie, survival aspect of it, I cannot personally stand that game anymore. So much from games like Metro and Stalker and Fallout makes me say "I really hope they add something like this to DayZ."

he's not talking about a 24hr reset, he's talking about the server going through the morning, noon, dawn, night cycle before it resets.

I'm just going to say this because I'm not going to get sucked in to the grammar trolling, but lack of spelling correctly isn't ignorance, as much as it is laziness. As you know, we mericans are notoriously lazy because, well, we can afford to be and I've embraced the sedentary lifestyle. To me, ignorance is lack of understanding, which understanding comes from learning of a culture and traditions and lifestyles, which leads to misjudging somebody over the color of their skin, or the way they talk, or their spelling errors...I hope you can see where I'm going with this because I'm laying on the sarcasm rather heavily. Murica!

Status Report - Week of 25 August 14
smacku2b replied to DemonGroover's topic in News & Announcements
How about a ban wave? The hacking is getting really bad again where I'm getting teleported to. Not sure about the infinite M4 mags but I'm seeing it again, not sure if that's a hack as much as it is a glitch, but ya. It's becoming very prevalent again. Honestly, I feel that BattleEye is really slacking with the anti cheats. I don't want to offend here, but it feels like they initiate a ban wave, then leave it alone until the game becomes completely unplayable again then they do another ban wave. BE is getting paid by Bohemia to protect their games from said hackers, and they should be doing just that every single day, not in waves, but a constant stream of bans, like APB is doing now. I've never played it, but my buddies love the game and their newly implemented anti cheating is a constant thing, always there, and always banning hackers. Don't get me wrong, I love when they do a ban wave, because for at least a month afterwards I can actually play the game and not encounter a single hacker. So the anti cheat is very effective, it's just not efficient. Please, BE, do something about this. -

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-3qzZrtJaQ&feature=youtu.be This is the reason why anti hacking really needs to be implemented. And if it is implemented, then it needs to be worked on extensively. I just happened to be recording at this time, but just 1 night before this me and my buddy encountered a teleporter and he knew exactly where we were the second we logged in. Yes i get that it's in alpha, but if that kind of stuff does not get addressed, it will kill the game for a lot of people. Including me. I was having a blast but after two nights in a row of some hacker just screwing me or my buddies over, I'm done for awhile. I won't be coming back to DayZ until I see some patches integrated to fix this kind of crap. I love the game, it is my favorite game that I have, but damn. -
At this point in the game the shoes are purely cosmetic. I'd like to fix that and make the type of footwear and the condition they are in to play a purpose for the game. Now lets face it, People are going to kill other people in the game. That's the way it is and I don't want that changed. But the footsteps in this game are so unrealistically loud that it's impossible to sneak up on someone or sneak away from someone. I feel that the weight of the shoe, like tennis shoes would make barely any sound at all, where as combat boots and military boots are rather heavy footwear, making your footsteps heavier and louder. I'd like to see different types of footwear create a different volume of footsteps depending on the real life weight of the shoes. Also condition could prove to be a good purpose. The worse the condition is, the louder the footsteps for that particular type of footwear. Also crouching should quiet your footsteps considerably, along with just walking. Damp footwear can make a squishy kind of noise with each step. Anyways, that's just something I'd like to see implemented.

It's not a big deal to me, but it would be something nice to help new people out who are not familiar with the game or the mod at all. I see suggestions about a mini map, which I totally disagree with that suggestion. The less things on the HUD the better. However, there are many bus stops through out the game. Like in a large mall there are small little posters of the layout of that mall with an arrow saying "You are here." I feel like something of that idea could be implemented with the bus stops of this game. Just the bus stops. A highlighted network of the bus stop connections at each stop with an arrow pointing at the corresponding location as to that particular bus stop you are in. It's a very simple idea, and it doesn't take away from immersion. Implement it or not I really honestly don't care about it much, it would just be something nice if you can't exactly get your bearings figured out when you spawn or return to a character.

i just alt tab out and have the map bookmarked. but ya like I said, it's for new players to figure out where they are on the coast or for returning players that haven't played in a while and don't remember where they logged last.

An idea that I had a long time ago. Being that I'm sure there are going to be a ton of different guns in this game, this idea could be even more useful. You can already carry a primary and a pistol no problem. Even a shot gun sawed off in your backpack, which is an awesome addition since my idea came to mind. However, I don't like it taking up inventory space, nor do I find the sawed off very effective at this point in development. I'd like to carry one type of weapon for any situation. Being fully prepared. A long range, a mid range, a short range, and a melee. I like to carry the mosin and a magnum at all times usually. But I hate having to decide, either a mosin, or a mid ranged weapon. If your character has a vest, and if and only if you can manage to find the correct gun sling, you should be able to carry an M4 on the front of your vest. It would also cause a limitation, which to me is a pretty substantial one. To carry a gun, like an M4 or any type of other assault weapons that get added into this game, on the front of your vest should also prevent you from being able to go prone, unless the weapon is in your hands. Also finding mag pouches or dump bags would be awesome to have in the game, but again only available to wear on your character if you are in possession of a tac vest or just add belts to the game as well. The dump bags and mag pouches would of course only be able to contain magazines. Which would become much more useful when more assault weapons and sub machine guns come into play with the game. Adding a belt to the game would also enable hip holsters to be worn, or leg holsters which wouldn't need a belt but should be very rare to find them since they wouldn't have any requirements to wear them and prevent any inventory space from being used up, so those should be incredibly rare in my opinion. Anyways, I had other ideas as well but I'm having difficulty remembering so I'm sure I'll be posting a bunch more like this. Another idea I have is just a modification. Since binoculars are lacking in this game, you should be able to use a long range scope, whether it's attached to a gun or not, as a way to scope out an area from a distance, like a telescope. There is no reason it should be useless if not on a mosin.
-
Yes you do have to decide right now, I do like that, however if they are going for as realistic as possible with this game in terms of survival, your going to want as much firepower as you can possibly carry. If it were me in the situation I would not decide between a long range and an all purpose rifle. I'd take them both.
-
oh I know you had no insult in your words. Just saying the words "I know there are multiple ways to crawl." Say it in a Lenny voice from "of Mice and Men" lol
-
See those restrictions I do like a lot actually. However at this point in the game I don't think it's sophisticated enough to be able to implement those types of energy and hydration calculations along with maneuverability and noise level as well. Now if they implemented multiple types of prone stances then I could see your thoughts on not having a prone restriction. But given the current prone animations I feel it should be restricted. I realize there are multiple ways to crawl along the ground...lol I feel like I'm talking to a guy who thinks I'm a retard just saying that, but like I said, with the current animations, unless they add multiple prone stances, I can't see prone being possible with a gun on the front, at least not without causing conditional damage over a large amount of time to the gun or pain to your character causing him to moan and groan. You see what I'm saying now that I clarified a bit more?
-
Well to be fair I didn't really look all that much lol. I searched for footsteps and that was it lol
-
ahah there we go. gotta hit it twice lol.
-
I did hit enter actually. Several times. It just defaulted to this for whatever reason.
