Anyway, something has to do with the DayZ video settings too. Telling that it runs 20 fps has no meaning without settings. Geforce GTX 750 is capable of 40-50 fps 1920x1080 and anti-aliasing...

What settings do you use?

Question about depth of field - before considering a bug
lucianpin posted a topic in General Discussion
Hi, Is it true that Post processing setting from rendering menu should add some kind of depth of field effect? It is strange that with the latest stable build 0.44 I tried all possible settings "Very Low" to "Very High" and I only saw a blur while running, no depth of filed. Rotation blur and bloom is set to zero. Is this setting related with some other setting? Does depth of filed effect exist in DayZ? EDIT: I have tried with two different video cards: Intel & nVidia using Windows 7 SP1 DirectX 11 -

So it is a bug... -
I think you should check your video driver settings. What is you monitor native resolution?

I really like to play this game as survival not PVP, maybe this is because I am playing alone. I am sure they will make it even harder to survive. But I know that many people buy this game to play PVP in teams. So, selling this game is a business and I think that all types of users must be pleased. I am thinking of two types of servers: survival and PVP. Weapons on Survival mode should be very rare and very few pristine like it wold be in reality; also food - survival is the challenge. On PVP, should be a lot of food, weapons and ammunition - like it is right now on current servers. In this way the two types of players will naturally split in half: PVP on their severs and survival on the other servers. I imagine that someone who spent 200 hours on PVP will die alone within 3 hours on survival servers :) Oh, to avoid another problem, there should be separate hives as well, to avoid gearing on PVP and come to survival. And hardcore and regular should be only a server setting and not separate hives.
-
Maybe you are right, let's wait and see...
-
I agree with this and did not argue about it ("different ethics and ideals") The problem with hardcore and regular is that we have to play by the same rules when we are on the same sever. This could have been accomplished with server settings, not different hives. I should be able to play with the same character on regular and hardcore servers. Different hives are required for my idea, anyway if it would be accepted.

Ok, when everybody is against me I am reacting like this, sorry. Item spawn limitation will come soon, I am sure. There is no need for hunting if you find all kind of canned beans. The game is going to a true survival...
-
In this thread, I had a vision :), but it seems that devs don't worry about...
-
That's just what I did NOT say. Should I translate again for you?
-
I understand what are you saying. We'll see if or how many players will quit DayZ because of being very hard to survive. And believe me I am saying this although I like very much survival and I want this game to be very hard to survive.
-
Are you sure that people will prefer to play ArmaA instead of DayZ PVP servers? I just said what I wanted to say, who wants to read it will read. Of course this thread was dedicated to devs or team leads. I just stated my opinion.
-
Enhancing survival aspect is only making harder for teams to play PVP. I am not talking about me, if I like PVP or not, survival or not. I am talking about user profiles. While this game will be true survival and it is great, I was proposing to also keep a type of servers for quickly gear up and go to killing zones. This is just my opinion, I would do that to keep users, to make as much money from this game. Obviously, Survival servers would allow PVP.
-
What is new is to keep both type, full weapons and amo and the other with less weapon and amo. (less - not without weapons)
-
When the cause of the death will be most of the time sickness, starvation, wild animals and many many other reasons, then analyze the probability to meet a healty person with a gun that will kill you. I don't say it will never happen, it will, but very rare. I like discussion, that's why I am proposing this. I still think it is a good idea and you didn't convince me yet.
-
Are you reading? I want survival harder and you come and say "this game is too hard for me"?
-
This would not be a solution. I have to search for specific servers... I don't like the idea. This game is heading to survival, that's for sure. And I was just saying how to not lose PVP players and separate this kind of playing.

Me again, I discovered something. For low end PCs/video cards, when anti-aliasing would hurt too much performance... I saw that Edge Smoothing from Rendering menu is most effective when rendering resolution is 100% of user interface resolution. However, Edge Smoothing affects a little bit FPS performance too, so as an alternative I changed my user interface resolution from 1280x720 to 1600x900 and the rendering resolution I left it at 1280x720 which is now 80% of user interface. This creates a soft effect of the image and Edge Smoothing can be disabled because it has non-perceptible effect now. In my opinion now it looks better and also gained some FPS improvement.
-
Your graphic card performance is almost as good as mine (Intel HD 4400) and I play at 30 fps average and in the worst case (city or forest) ~25 fps. In open field 40+ fps. You did not mention your dayZ user interface resolution and rendering resolution.
-
I am seeing this grey polygons too but for a short period of time. I guess it depends on texture loading time. I keep my game defragmented and because having 8 GB RAM no paging operations occur during game loading. For me, the game is loading really fast.

I think that the list of known persons could be saved locally on client's computer in the form like this: hash of the steam username. Anyway, if you reinstall your game, you would suffer from "memory loss", forgetting all the people you know. Anyway, I like the idea too.
