    Server Hosting

Hello there. I did a few google searches to see if I can somehow host my own server for DayZ Standalone. I've found that I can only pay hosts a monthly fee in order to host my own server. Why is that? Why can't I just host a server like I can in Arma 3?
  2. Boogyman93

Well, I'm not exactly sure what to say.

I found that too. It's north of Svetloyarsk, just over the hills.

make pipe wrench as damaging as it shoudl be

They should add concussions if hit by the wrench, or other blunt melee weapons such as baseball bats, instead of bleeding. Concussions gradually reduce health istead of blood and instead of bandages you use painkillers to fix them.

    Improve the ladders, please...

I like the sliding down part and making gloves actually usefull, but a real improvement to the ladders would be a new animation for when you reach the top. I'm afraid to climb ladders if the distance is too high because sometimes the character doesn't go slightly in front of the ladder after I reach the top and I just end up falling back down and dying.

    DirectX 11 rendering.

I know the DayZ team decided to stick to the Arma II engine and that the engine only has DX9 rendering, but will we ever see a DX11 render option added in the future? No need to add any DX11 effects. Just add the DX11 rendering option to be able to render the game in DX11 for us users who have the hardware. http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/ As you can see on the Steam Hardware & Software Survey, more than 50% of users have DX11 hardware. Adding a DX11 render to the game would only gives us a small fps boost for free, and we all know how important that is especially in Cherno or Elektro. I'm not asking for this to be added since I know that adding this to the game would require additional coding to the engine and that takes time. I'm just asking if there is a chance for this to ever be added in the future.

    DirectX 11 rendering.

World of Warcraft has DX9 and DX11 since Cataclysm and Blizzard didn't add any DX11 features. And the answer to the "what for?" question is a free performance boost. I got 12fps increase in WoW while in Orgrimmar going from the DX9 render to the DX11 one. And that's a lot seing as how WoW is more of a CPU heavy game.

    Rivers, streams and water sources.

I don't think the game even has a texture for flowing water. But it would be nice to add at least one river somewhere in Chernarus, for water and for just sitting there and relaxing while listening to the water flowing.

Can I Run DayZ Retail (POST HERE)

DesktopMonitor resolution: 1680 x 1050CPU: AMD Athlon II X2 255 @ 3.4Ghz (OC)Graphics card: MSI R6770-MD @ 850/1200 (OC)RAM: 8GB DDR3 @1399 (OC)SSD: No Rendering: set to Disabled except for SMAA (Very High) and that stupid HDR witch I can't turn off set to Very low. Quality: all set to Normal. Textures: Video Memory set to Auto and Texture Detail / Texture Filtering set to Very High. Video: resolution set to 1680x1050, VSync enabled with tripple buffering enabled from AMD Control Panel. With those settings I get 16fps in Elektro and 28fps in Cherno.

Please make more equipment colorable by Spray Can

Some gear already had black and green variants. Those equipments should be able to be sprayed. For example: += And so on. It's a pain finding a black vest in pristine condition to match my character's outfit. I've found 2 green ones but didn't bother to take them since green makes me look like a bandit.

    Two Handed Flashlight, Why?

I think it's because it's so easy to find a FNX45 and a pistol flashlight, or because they couldn't find a use for the other hand since all melee weapons back when the game came out were two-handed. Now, since you can find duct tape and rope, it would be nice to be able to tie the flashlight to a gun or be able to hold it like TIC321 suggested.

    Wheres the dead people?

There are houses that have blood on the wall but for some reason the blood is only visible at night when you shine a flashlight on the walls. But I agree with the OP. There should be signs of a struggle in homes or bodies that were too mangled or disfigured to become a zombie. The game is still pre-alpha and is nowhere near done so there is a lot of room for adding new stuff all the time. Like doing something with the military bases and the airfields. It does seem a bit strange for those places to be as empty as they are and yet, so full of loot. There should be tons of bodies from both soldiers and zombies. Hospitals should also have a lot of bodies from both soldiers and doctors who were killed by patients who turned into zombies.

    Update Rev. 0.36.115535 (Experimental branch)

I don't get it why so many people ar so mad about the patch not comming out and the game still having bugs. It's a pre-alpha. It even says when you open the game that it's made for testing and not for your enjoyment. The game is still in 0.xx versions and will stay so for a long time. If some of you are here only to complain, then you bought the game too early.

    Adding Server to Favorites

Awesome idea. It's really hard for me to know what server I'm playing on since I have very bad memory so I have any way to tell people what server I'm playing on. Your idea should be implemented.

    PPSH-41

Weapons are already extremely easy to find ingame. After about 30 minutes of playing, you cand find an M4A1, witch is ridiculous in my opinion. It's a zombie apocalypse and you can find buttloads of M4's in a russian map (or ukrainian, I don't know exactly). If there were AK's instead of M4's it would have made a bit of sense but there still are way to many weapon spawns. If they will add a weapon that is a museum piece today, they should only add it spawned once per map and only in hard to find/reach zones. And the ammo should be even harder to come by. Since this is a collector's weapon, ammo should only, rarely, be found in regular homes that are far away from any major roads or even hidden in wooded areas. And the weapon itself won't be practic at all. It will be nice to have it just to show off but you can easilly find better ones. I've found M4's and Mosin's even on the shipwreck on the north-eastern coast.

    Hackers

I know that feeling. I've just been killed 3 days ago at Black Mountain while I was up in the tower. I climbed the wooden stairs in the tower and I heard someone saying something in russian, I think, but he did say my name and then came through the wall with a fireaxe and started hitting me and then going back through a wall. I shot him a couple of times with my M4 but it was like he had god mode or something. Anyway, the character in my avatar is dead now and I'll have to change it once I gear up my new one. This is why I play on emtpy servers...
  16. So, now that you can make an improvised backpack with sticks and a sack, I was wonderring if maybe you could also add an improvised quick-fix for broken legs using a string and some sticks to tie them around the broken leg. This could allow the player go at walking speed either crouched or standing up since there's no limping animation. Also, maybe combine it with a bandage or a disinfected rag to help prevent an infection untill you find some morphine. So if you do happen to have some rope and some sticks in your backpack you could just tie them around the broken leg to make finding some morphine a bit easier.

    Improvised sollution for broken legs.

Thanks. I didn't know that. Sorry about the post then.

Did you really put in heart attacks?

The heart attack addition would only be ok if they also added an "unhealthy" status for players who only drink soda and eat unhealthy food. Other than that, a random chance of heart attack for all tipes of players would only increase rage quitting and general quitting of the game. I didn't pay 24 euro's to get a heart attack. I have a defibrilator in my chest because I had a cardiorespiratory arrest when I was 17 years old. I have been going to the gym before and after my surgery and also started jogging 30 minutes a day since a month ago. I am 20 years old now and haven't suffered from heart problems ever since. But seeing my character that has a healthy status randomly die from a heart attack would make me smash my screen with my keyboard and make me have one as well. PLEASE DON'T IMPLEMENT THIS!

    Your first murder

My first and only player kill occured when I spawned close to Elektrozavodsk so I went there to gear up. When I left Elektro, I already had an FNX45 and a clip with 15 rounds in it. While going east, following the road to then head north towards Svetloyarsk, a player jumped out of the woods and started firing at me with a revolver. I quickly pulled my FNX45 and started firing back. Lucky for me, I had the healthy status, so I survived. He had similar loot to mine. A gun, some food and some soda, and a 25 slot bag. But he did have a militarry helmet witch I somehow manage to ruin. I hate having to fire at other players but when they fire at you first, you don't have much of choice but to fire back.

    DayZ is peaceful

Hello DayZ comunity. o/ My ingame name is Andrei and I've bought DayZ:SA about two months ago and have 91 hours invested in it so far. I don't have any Steam friends and I've been playing alone since I bought it. I try to be a friendly player but every time I've made contact with another player and tried to offer my help by offering them medical supplies, food and water, I got killed. I also got killed 3 times because of the country I'm from so I'll keep that to myself for now. I try to stay only in the northern part of the map and avoid other players as much as possible. I don't know what server I am on since I don't even know how to add servers to favourites. I only know that I am on a 24/7 daylight server with a relatively small population during the day and an under 10 players population during the night in my country. I am currently in Krasnostav and plan on making my way to Devil's Castle, then to the airfield to look for some gear and then back to Svetloyarsk where I spend most of my time ingame. My character always has a green cowboy hat and aviator glasses.

    DayZ needs Humanity back

I kept wanting to start a thread on this subject but I couldn't think of a valid argument for why Humanity should be added to DayZ:SA. I felt that starting a new thread in witch I would just say that I want a way to distinguish bandits from other players and try to eliminate the need to be a "shoot first, ask questions later" player myself just wouldn't be enough. But today I found a thread about this on a computer hardware forum and thought the argument and idea was good enough. This was a response to the original post on that thread: "This is what happens when kids overrun a game. Day Z didn't used to be like this; back when it was a newly released mod for ArmA 2, it emphasized teamwork, and since it was played by ArmA 2's more mature community people actually did work together. Most people didn't shoot first and ask questions later, but ever since most BF/CoD/Titanfall gamers jumped on board, things changed. What's worse is, the developers of Day Z seem to want it to be this way. Originally Day Z had a "humanity" system: essentially it gave a distinctive bandit skin to those who shot on sight. This way, you could tell who'd be hostile upon first glance, but they removed this system, lowered the amount of zombies on the map by hundreds (though they may have fixed this by now), and made loot/vehicles much more common (though I believe standalone fixes this). They need to add the humanity system back and expand on it, perhaps by enforcing some kind of penalty on those who shoot on sight (make them visible on the map and make zombies spawn around them)." Tree House

This wouldn't be a good idear because: 1: People who would find it would either claim it as their own or steal everything that is in it. 2: The only way of getting up in it would probably be a ladder which would probably get you killed 50%+ of the time since ladders are currently so bugged. 3: If you're like me and you get lost easilly, you will probably have to use the map of Chernarus from google images since you can't have a full map in DayZ:SA 4: A lot of resources would have to be implemented in the game in order to build one and also new tree models in witch you will be able to build one and that would take a lot of time and effort. 5: It won't be practical since you will probably build it the middle of a forrest where there are no food/water resources. 6: It will cause aditional load on the server (since I don't see how a tree house can be saved to your character and it will probably be only on the server you've built it) and that will cause more lag. 7: If the server is gone or a new patch causes a wipe, all your hard work will be gone along with it.
