  1. I've been on both ends of the desync. When it happens to my pals it looks like they are running straight through buildings, then when the server catches up, the warp way back. On the other end, I've had pals tell me it looks like I'm running through walls and buildings, however on my screen everything looks perfectly fine. Those things happen, and they've been happening since OFP. There are instances where it may look like someone is hacking, when it truly is lag or desync. Until the netcode gets optimized things like this will happen. It makes me think that people are just unaware of what desync and/or lag looks like in ArmA and Day Z. So it gets mistaken for hacks. I'm not saying this is always the case. There are definitely hackers out there. There is no doubt about that, but...I guess what I'm saying is to try to look at it objectively. Accusing someone of hacking is a serious charge that brings a lifetime ban from Day Z. It's better to be objective and look at all the evidence...otherwise it becomes a witch hunt. By all means, ban the shit out of hackers...but let's make sure they are hackers to begin with. Regardless. It's not even up to us. BattleEye does it's thing and it makes sure it bans the actual hackers. Sometimes it takes a bit, but when it does you'll notice a ban wave as threads start popping up about "my cousin/brother/roommate hacked on my computer".

    DayZ Experimental server restart times?

From my experience they tend to reset every four hours. Around 18:00 game time.

    That's some scary sh-- (long)

That was a well written story. Kudos comrade. Sidenote: I can't help but read the title as "That's some scary shlong" ?...almost as creepy as the story itself.

Check out that sub forum for info about server status for both experimental and stable and game related updates in general.

This Made Me Laugh + Clouds

So...I found Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and the cover made me laugh loud enough to wake up the little one. I dunno...just something about it is funny to me. Also, have the clouds been changed in experimental? Or the colors at least? I've never noticed pinks and reds in the clouds before...maybe I'm just not that observant.

    Does experimental servers restart?

From my experience they restart every four hours or so. Around 18:00 game time I believe.
  9. With future builds...comes greater optimization.

This Made Me Laugh + Clouds

Hm...I guess I could hop on stable to see if it happens there as well. I just hadn't noticed the clouds change like that before. It looks great, quite realistic indeed.
  11. Oh Philly It's true it may take awhile to ship to stable, but they want the build to be...stable before they send it. You know that. But seriously, if you want to take a break then do so. I totally get being burned out on a game. 200 hours of game time is a lot. Take a break for a little while and when you come back you can experience all the new things with a fresh start.

How to record high quality videos

On fraps, I keep my frames at 29.97. Also, I use windows movie maker to edit. It works fairly well for what I use it for. It's very basic and simple and it allows me to export in 1080. I think I get decent quality out of it. I could do with a few settings changes though. I've heard good things about dxtory as well, though. I might switch it up myself.

    Do you want binoculars? POLL

Those look great! Gotta love that hammer and sickle stamp.

    Doors - anyone home?

Sometimes I'll open doors to buildings I don't intend to loot and run across town to loot over there. I shut doors behind me upon entering and exiting until I'm about to skip town.

    Do you want binoculars? POLL

I like binos. I'm excited for when they show up, but I'm not aching for them. The models exist, but you have to remember...they have to add 'conditions' to them. I'll be excited to see how they look when worn and such. Bits of dirt and such. I'm a sucker for those little details. Even the damaged scope...I pick it up just to admire the 'damage'. So long as we don't get rangefinders. Or if we do...hopefully they will be in very short supply. That's me though.
  16. You're also highly likely to run into some 'bad' guys using those routes. Not to mention, the high amount of traffic means less gear being leftover for fresh spawns. With the amount of police stations and grocery stores being added throughout the map, I find myself heading straight inland as soon as I spawn. It doesn't usually take me too long to get started with the basics. Plus, since most people run to the hot spots, I find plenty of food and gear in the inland cities. That's just me though.

    New sounds, anyone?

I'd love to have some door opening/closing sounds. I always shut doors behind me, so it'd be nice to get some advanced warning if someone were to come into my building. That thread with the videos is great.
  18. As I was making my rounds the other day (patrolling the coast for 'bad' guys) I ran across a fresh spawn. He had no gear and a zed coming down the hill after him. I told him to get behind me as I pulled out my revolver. He quickly scooted behind me and I laid out the marauding zed. He seemed rather pleased. I was glad I was able to make his first experience memorable and somewhat cinematic in his view. He asked me a few questions about the game and I gave him a few tips. Unfortunately the server reset during our chat. He was probably killed shortly afterwards though. Such is life in Chernarus. Solid Snake is looking for Metal Gear.

confess ur sinns ! the reverend is in tha house

To be fair, running down the coast handing out spaghetti isn't much of a confession...or a sin. Plus, there will always be people who kill others. Sometimes for no reason. Whether we want it to happen or not. That's why I spend time patrolling the coast, trying to protect the fresh spawns.

    Video of hacker in experimental

I dunno...it looked like it could've been major desync, but he did seem to be moving quite fast. It's hard to tell. Also, damn dude. Just listening to you guys got me confused. I'm surprised there was no friendly fire.

    I killed Tom Hanks

I don't kill fresh spawns...I do kill guys who harass fresh spawns though. It's good to see a video with such a fresh, and new perspective...

I shot a man in Reno... Just to watch him die...

    For science!

I can only imagine the conversation that led up to the testing. Good experiment! Was the ballistic helmet pristine in the initial test? And does the condition effect the durability? A link to the other test would be good for the sake of comparison.
