With the keymaster comes a gatekeeper. (nothing to add, but the joke had to be made.)
-
I assume that button up in the top right that says "Follow this thread" might help.
-
There is no way up there unless you have a heli. It's like a thousand forks when all you need is a spoon.

You are all wrong. The safest places are those little islands just off the coast. Swim there and log off forever. Congratulations, you've survived armageddon (w/ arma addons *buh dum splash*) :P

PMC char resolution vs Normal Char Res.
savini replied to Reaven1911's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Camo w/ BAF Survivor w/ PMC The ghillie suit is part of CO, so it'll be high res regardless. Sry I don't have any low res examples oh, a quick search on google led me to this: http://meta.filesmel...17-22-45-37.png -
The cycle is built into arma itself. I don't believe the speed can be modified at all.

Here is a good PSO-1 tutorial video. Not made by me.

Player Emails Admin After Vehicle is Stolen By Admin, LOL
savini replied to Gumpnstein's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
My mate and I had a good run awhile ago. We kept coming across others camps and taking what we needed. We found and took all sorts of vehicles. Here is a vid where we come across the first set of camps :D -
You may play in whatever way you deem appropriate.

I ought to kill you just for asking, however... no, I would just kill you. ;) To stay safe, find a cow. It's time consuming, but worth it to not have to deal with potential threats.

I swim out to the islands just off the coast, then I win.

As above, PvP is integral to the experience. It's always a drag to get killed and lose all your gear, but the thrill comes when you survive a firefight and loot the jerk that took shots at you. The most exhilarating moments for me come not from zeds, they are just an easily fixable problem, but from the times you encounter another player. Not knowing intent, talking to eachother from opposite sides of a wall. Those are the moments that get my adrenaline pumping. It's a good thing, I promise.

Your First Venture Into The City
savini replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I can't even remember my first couple DayZ days, but I enjoyed your story. However, if I may, the part where you "noticed the survivor from earlier" was a bit confusing as you had not established that you had seen any survivors earlier. anyhow, cheers :) -
I'm not sure if any of you guys are familiar with the text based zombie game Urban Dead, but the system used for radios is pretty neat. Basically one would need a radio transmitter set to a freq to broadcast out. However, in order to receive the transmissions you would need a small receiver set to the same freq. Could be useful for radioing for help, broadcasting safehouse locations, communicating with a safehouse before entering just in case hostile intentions are expected (see: Dawn of the Dead 1979). We could put some of those radio towers to use...Green Mountain fun. Also, now that I think about it. Hypothetically say your group manages to make it to green mountain. Once inside, you need to get the generator running to power the station and send a msg out, but it could be a scripted event, where it sends out a message to the military, another country, whatever. Then maybe based on certain variables, there could be a carpet bomb run randomly on a large city, or an evac chopper would fly in, but crash leaving a destroyed, but repairable chopper. Or maybe an AI paramilitary force converges on the tower...or outlaw bikers (see also Dawn of the Dead). I dunno. I have no idea how difficult it would be to implement such things, or if it's even possible. Just some thoughts. This is the zombie game I've dreamed of and I'm glad to see how great it is just the way it is. Cheers

Arma 2 and arma 2: operation arrow head
savini replied to DomoStash's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If you have arma 2 then yea, all you need is arrowhead and you're golden. EDIT: Combined Ops is just the name for the both of them together. -
Global ban from a hacker in-game?
savini replied to [email protected]'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
how many copies of arma 2 did you purchase? Something seems fishy -
Oh wow, from April even ;) . You can copy paste my OP there if it helps. Minus the AI bits and random events, at the time it seemed like a good idea. ACRE would be a cool way to integrate these ideas, as well.

Elektrozavodsk - Payback is a bitch, bro
savini replied to bichplsz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Nice! That story reminds me of a similar situation I had. My buddy and I linked up in Elektro and were about to leave, when we came under attack. A couple snipers in that same firestation were picking guys off as they headed inland. We both get killed, but I make it my personal goal to take my revenge. I eventually found a CZ and worked my way around Elektro to the hill that overlooks the firestation. I did some scouting for a bit to see what I was dealing with, before missing the first two or three shots =/. Eventually I ended the lives of our assailants and my pal and I went down to collect our reward. Unfortunately for someone who was not us...he was at the wrong place at the wrong time and I had to put an end to his climbing. Then my pal announces he has a fan club behind him as he is running up behind me. We try to run into the station only to find the doors wired shut. So we turn around to alleviate the undead of the "un" and gather our composure. In our haste we didn't realize one of the doors was not barricaded. In we trot. I take fire immediately and panic. Then, like something out of an action movie, my pal pops around the corner and lays the bandit out. We survey the area, and collect our loot. This is about the time my mouse starts giving out (I still use an old school track ball...it's what I'm used to :P). I look up and to my horror, I'm looking down the barrel of a pistol belonging to one of the bandits I had killed earlier. A short firefight ensues with a pretty silly ending. Luckily I was running fraps during this occurence :D The nametags are server-side settings. Watch in HD for full effect. -

I've been absent for a bit and wanted to announce a new adventure series I am working on titled "No Hope". Also wanted to post a quick collection of previous adventures. Feedback is encouraged. All footage was filmed quite a few patches ago, so if it seems odd...that's probably why. The Airfield Adventure series was recorded during the course of one evening with a group of guys I had just met. What follows is a fright-filled, gore-fest complete with zeds, a huey, some banditry, and a tense standoff with a dramatic ending. Airfield Adventure Part I Features include crawling around NW AF and making new friends. Airfield Adventure Part II Features include chopper repair and intentional weapon discharge

Car Troubles and Camp Raids Part V Features include a new day, a slight hesitation, an unfortunate death, an excellent revenge, and more camps. Car Troubles and Camp Raids Part VI Features include a rescue, multiple vehicles, a bicycle, near death, a wrecked huey, a sexy tractor, and a not so dramatic conclusion.
-
Car Troubles and Camp Raids Part III Features include an unexpected find, a particularly funny moment beginning at 6:35, a new day, and a brand new boat. Car Troubles and Camp Raids Part IV Features include another brand new boat, a couple more boats, a camp raid, an atv, massive theft, some destruction, more camps, and another unexpected find.

My other adventure series was recorded over the course of about a week. Myself and my buddy Jason had an incredible amount of luck that started with the finding of a UAZ. Which turned into an epic adventure full of vehicles and camps and a bit of pvp action. Car Troubles and Camp Raids Part I Features include crawling through Krasnostav, re-killing the dead, finding a UAZ, and some tunes by yours truly. Car Troubles and Camp Raids Part II Features include refueling, driving, picking up the Gumbala, and driving.
