I think we all know why we're not getting any info ;)

I'm still having frame spikes myself. They are not as bad as a few days ago, but it happens from time to time on my end. I read some others still have a few issues as well. I don't think it's as widespread, but there are still a few reports out there it seems.

His character is lost at sea and he can't respawn. Not sure if he's talking about mod or stand alone though. I'd heard of this happening, though I haven't found anything that fixes it yet. I'll try googling a bit. Until then, see if you have some bleach or something in your inventory and drink it. Wow...that looks absurd reading it back, but no joke. Try to kill yourself with something in your inventory, or you could start swimming. I'll try to come back with a fix!

I see. I'm with you on the no high end rifles. Making the guns we currently have more rare would be feasible. I dunno...something like that could work. I'm on the fence about it, but it would be interesting to test that and see how it plays out. I'm for trying it...I dunno if I'm down with keeping it.

I think...that in any post apocalyptic situation...the first thing I would do is find a gun. I'm not sure I follow your logic. It would make sense to have no firearms if the setting was medieval Russia...but the setting of the game being when and where it is, I just don't see that happening. Perhaps I misunderstood your point?

I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but whoever it is that is cheating on whatever game is an idiot that probably got your account banned because of said cheating. Actually I'm not sorry. Cheating, hackers are bitches. Now if you came back with legit server error messages...or a screenshot of your problem and it doesn't have to do with hacks, then we can help. Otherwise, you're screwed, banned, and out of pocket.
-
The best way any of us could help is if you provided any information you can. Such as the exact error messages and such. Also it would be helpful to know if that cheat engine interacts with anything involving Day Z or Steam.

Is it better to travel with your gun in your hands or on your back?
savini replied to omgwtfbbq (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Personally, I keep my main weapon shouldered during long hauls. I keep it drawn when I get within around 400 meters of a town. I find that to be mostly effective. Then again, anything can happen anywhere so it would probably be wise for me to keep it out at all times. Usually though...I stick to the first bit. That's me though. -
On a serious note...I don't think such a thing is possible. Now...I don't know exactly how the dayz hive works, but I am assuming such an idea would require a seperate hive, or a serious amount of modification to allow the hive to process such a thing. That's just me speculating though.

I thought that was called "banditry" buh dum tsss but you know!!...you know

I'm with you. Though it's better than the past few days, I still notice a considerable drop. I'll be cruising at 30fps then it'll drop to below 5. I only tried one server though. I wasn't aware that some servers were still experiencing issues. I'll give that a shot and see if it's any better.

I think you're in the clear. Combat logging usually pertains to someone who logs as soon as the firefight starts....or shortly after the firefight starts and they are wounded. If you're heart is still pounding when you log out...then I'd call that a combat log.

Very cool! Just for future reference...a topic like this would be more appreciated in the "Gallery" forum. Those guys love these sorts of things. Cheers!

If you are kicked from server does it happen the same as logout?
savini replied to jimgun's topic in General Discussion
Interesting. That would be a most unfortunate error to occur, be it by kick, or power failure, or internet acting up. Any number of variables could potentially strand you with no way to defend ones self should something occur that is out of your control. I'm sure these will be addressed in the future, but for now...damn dude, that sucks. -
The Map is smaller when compared to Day Z Mod's Chernarus
savini replied to AG-D.Wright's topic in General Discussion
I will! I'll say it right to its face!! *ba dum tss* -
The Map is smaller when compared to Day Z Mod's Chernarus
savini replied to AG-D.Wright's topic in General Discussion
I think you misunderstood the experiment. The time is just a variable used to determine the distances of both maps. Besides, there is no watch in stand alone. Also, I don't think the game has a strong enough engine to support the distances involved when measuring the size of the sun compared to the earth, and the amount of light one is able to see. ALSO...my first post is just absurd...as is this one. -
The Map is smaller when compared to Day Z Mod's Chernarus
savini replied to AG-D.Wright's topic in General Discussion
This seems like a job for science!! We can use the sun and our shadows to determine the distance between two places on the map. Measure your shadow at...let's say 3PM...whilst in the south western most portion of the map. Then! Go to the furthest point north east and measure your shadow again at 3PM. THEN! ...there is some equation that'll determine the distance between the two points. Then do that again in the mod version. [EDIT: Wait a second...that was what they did to prove the earth was round...I dunno how yo...well it might work...either way, smaller map, bigger map...it's still a fun game. I am indifferent to this] -
I have always been one of those guys that were against skills. But some of the things you describe are making me rethink my stance. I still think that "accuracy, speed" and things kush said should be left alone, but as far as survival skills...I think something like that could work. Maybe a faster cook speed, or better quality meals from reading a "cookbook". The only thing I would disagree with is the "skill degradation" bit. I would argue that once you learn how to start a fire then it's a bit hard to forget. Like riding a bike...if that makes sense. Maybe I misinterpreted how you meant. I guess degradation would occur when it involves a complex task, such as car repair. I can dig that. I'd also like to toss an extra thought in if I may. If such a system were implemented we could allow for fresh spawns to start with certain skills. So that there is still a bit of an even playing field. I'm for a skill system that is passive and doesn't give a major advantage to anyone. By that I mean if you compare a fresh spawn to a "vet" (under a skill system) the difference between the two would be miniscule. So that we're all still on a level playing field...but I think a lot of us are on the same page. Anyway, that's just me. Cheers!

For sure. Sometimes it's good to take a break and do other things. Then you can come back fresh. That goes for most anything.

I hear you where you're coming from and I see what you mean. I am not sure how to go about making adjustments to the system, but I think you're on the right track. I just made a post in a separate "TS" thread so hopefully I'm not breaking any rules by reposting, but this is where I stand on the matter of third party comms. "Personally, and by that I mean this is my own personal opinion, I am not a fan of third party voice chat. Well...let me specify further. I am not a fan of using third party comms or text being used to communicate when it is game related. That's not to say I mind it being used to find friends or if new players need some answers. That's also not to say that I haven't used third party comms before, I have. However, in my opinion again, I would prefer to see walkies and radios be used as the default means of long range comms. In which case you would be taking a risk by using the radio. Be if from being heard by zeds, or worse, other players. It's not a huge deal by any means. There are tons of other things I'd like to see implemented first. In the end though, it's most likely impossible to enforce a "no third party comms" and we will all have to live with it for better or worse. Again, these are the thoughts of one man who is mostly insignificant to the dev process. My two cents." Like I said, I think you're on the right track and hopefully there will come a solution that makes most people happy.

Servers Putting TS Info In Welcome Messages

That's some exploitative bullshit right there. I'm sure they are aware of this. I dunno if making the player wait to spawn in would help though. If that were the case there would be problems with people getting killed while spawning, even if they thought they were safe. If that makes sense. Perhaps have a check so that if you try to spawn and you are to close to another player that is already there...maybe have the spawning player spawn 100 meters away? So say you logged in a firestation. When you want to log in the server does a 50 meter check around your spawn radius. If there is another player near it'll spawn you 100 meters away. OR...it would warn you that if you spawn you will be 100 meters away and you could choose not to. I don't even know if such a thing is possible...is that possible? It's a thought. Cheers.

Car Crashes, more of them, esspecially in the cities
savini replied to over9000nukez's topic in General Discussion
The mod version had dozens of wrecks in every town. Pretty much how you describe. It made driving through town quite difficult. I don't really have an opinion on this either way. More broken cars...less broken cars...I'm pretty indifferent to it. I choose to contribute nothing to this conversation! -
Recording and Broadcasting a message to players with Radios
savini replied to flexy's topic in Suggestions
I don't know about all that. Adding music and such. It wouldn't seem very...apocalyptical..? Also, I think allowing players to control whats on the radio would be a bad idea. Like you said, people would do annoying shit. I suppose if there were multiple frequencies you'd at least have the option of not listening to it. Then you'd have to find headphones so that you wouldn't alert nearby zeds/players...but then wearing the headphones would severely hamper your hearing if something is sneaking up on you. There is potential. I would prefer it if the broadcast was set by the devs. Actually, a long while ago and again recently, people spoke of hearing grid coordinates being spoken over their radios. It would just broadcast in a loop. The coordinates always led to deerstand locations. Either coordinates, or perhaps an emergency broadcast that loops. Sorta like in 28 Days Later. That's just me though.
