The moderator locked my last post about Commrade Crunch because he thought I was joking. But seriously I want Commrade Crunch in the game. I think the current cereal name is not as creative as it's soda counter parts Spite and Nota Cola. NOTE: I'd also accept Admiral Crunch

Easiest/quickest place to find a Mosin once on the coast?
KarmaCoin replied to wmike20052's topic in General Discussion
I go to Novy Sobor and Starye Sobor. Its a 10-15 minute sprint from the coast and is never looted. The two cities are right next to each other and have a number of buildings that can spawn mosins and ammo. -
I have found them in civilian buildings and I'm pretty sure no one dropped them there. Another thread about where to find them had a number of people chime in about having found them in civilian buildings as well.

Perhaps the Devs can redeem themselves by adding Commrade Crunch then?
-
Lol, are they really? <- sarcasm I think they should keep with the off-brand theme and make Commrade Crunch a mock brand of Captain Crunch.
-
The mentality = humor. Not everyone has a sense of one though so its okay. Its like this post from the gallery section where a guy killed a walking vending machine.
-
No. But if it were Commrade Crunch, it'd literally be the only thing I carried.
-
To some of us it makes all the difference.

Please change the name of the cereal in the game from Crunchin crips (lame) to Commrade Crunch (AWESOME). This is by far the biggest issue with the game right now and I don't think I can keep playing until it is changed. NOTE: I'd also accept Admiral Crunch

You're right! The size of the map shouldn't bring down FPS at all because not all of the map is rendered at once. The reason a large open map like that in DayZ can't be made in the Cryengine 3 is because the Cryengine 3 doesn't support terrain streaming so client's must keep the entire map's terrain in memory at all times. This ends up being more memory than the game can allocate. Why did Crytek not include terrain streaming in their newest engine? Good question, I have no idea.

I haven't had much trouble finding the LRS. I've found it most commonly in the hangers and military barrakcs but I've found the LRS in the supermarket, garages, piano house and those orange brick buildings with the arched doorway. So it does spawn in civilian locations, just not as frequently.

FoV abuse, scatter when snapshoting, on-screen dot and zoom issues
KarmaCoin replied to FrostDragon's topic in Suggestions
Personally I think the RMB zoom should be removed entirely. You should only be able to zoom when looking through an adjustable optic like binoculars or LRS. Firing without using the iron sights absolutely needs to be less accurate. If they add that then I don't think the center dot needs to be removed. The center dot is very helpful for picking up hard to reach items and when shooting is IMO a realistic way of giving us hand eye coordination. As for FoV, I don't think it should be an adjustable option in game or in the config. It should be calculated based off the resolution of the game window. They probably won't go that route though so removing the ability to adjust it while playing is good enough. -
First thing I do is throw the flashlight and battery on the ground. I'm all for spawning with nothing. Those first moments of a new spawn's life are the most fun.

Map Converted To Island With Various Weather Climates - Images For Example
KarmaCoin replied to dashx73 (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
Don't have the time to read every post in the thread but I like the idea. If they do go the island route I would also like to see more off shore islands as well as large river ways that go inland so that we could travel by boat eventually. -
I was thinking it would be cool if there was a section on the forum where people could post the server and location of people that are Bambi Hunting. Then the good doers of DayZ can come help out. It'd be a fun and helpful activity for those of us that are geared out and roaming the coast looking for a fight.

maybe to some extent, I think a much larger number of people who are currently killing fresh spawns would become vigilantes thus decreasing the amount of spawn camping.

I'd like to start estimating some zombie apocalypse statistics and so I am curious? How many people do you think would still be alive 5 years after the start of the zombie apocalypse? *Clarification* I'm looking for how many of the entire worlds 7 billion people would be alive 5 years after the start of a zombie apocalypse. As for how the zombie apocalypse spread/started, use your own best judgment about how you think it would go down.
-
Pretty simple. If a player is logging into the server they were last logged into then there is no need for a log in timer. Please remove it so we don't have to wait 5 minutes after DC or game crashes.

Pending Changelog: Experimental Branch: 0.42.116002
KarmaCoin replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
Can't wait for this to get to stable, any word on when we can expect that? I was hoping .37 would get pushed to stable today, I guess that didn't happen. -
you might be able to use steam mover to somehow have both version installed at the same time. Haven't tried though.
-
Yea not knowing the names of the people who are doing the killing makes it a bit difficult but I think if you show up in the right place on the right server you are bound to find them after a little searching. Or maybe they'll find you, either way a confrontation is likely to happen.
-
Oh, nice! You can remove this thread then I wasn't aware.

Slow algorithms shouldn't result in lower GPU and CPU usage. A slower algorithm just means it takes more clock cycles to complete the task which certainly leads to lower FPS but the CPU and GPU should still be getting fully utilized. The reverse of CPU/GPU usage is CPU/GPU idle time, i.e the amount of time the processor wasn't executing anything (including the slow algorithm) The frame rate drops in the video because the GPU usage drops. So the real question is what is causing the GPU to not be utilized. I'm going to try increasing the priority of DayZ while running it to see if that helps. If I get time after work I'll try throwing it into a debugger to look for sleep calls or other pitfalls which could result in the process yielding CPU time.

Long range skope (LRS) where does it spawn?
KarmaCoin replied to cessnas (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
I did too but none the less it does spawn there.
