So my leg didn't break from falling at all. I was just standing in a house looking down at some loot. I think there may be some sort of bug somewhere.

You guys should make a new thread for the addition of extra stances. This thread was meant to be about implementing a single key to toggle between stances.
-
I use crouch when shooting in grass. I'm not opposed to the addition of new stances but I'm totally okay with just prone, crouching and standing. Unless they add new stances I would like a multi-function key for easier switching between stances.

As in you click the mouse wheel? I have not tried this. I know pressing F doesn't default to the expected action very often. Like having a water bottle out and looking at a water source drinks from the water source instead of filling the bottle. In fact, it doesn't matter what you are doing/holding, looking at a water source and pressing F always defaults to drinking form the water source. I think they could be smarter about this and take into account what you are holding.

The ammo box is a very handy item but it can be pretty clunky to use. And dropping it on the ground to grab some ammo can result in losing both the box and all the ammo inside if the server resets. Here are a couple ideas on how to change the ammo box so that it is easier to use. 1.) Simplify the ammo box by making it function just like a stack of ammo but with a higher stack count. This way you can perform all the usual ammo interactions without having to drop the box. 2.) Allow use of bullets from the hot-bar. I noticed we can place bullets in the hot-bar, however dragging or right clicking them does not allow us to load a weapon. If we could drag or right click to use ammo from the hot-bar then we could use the ammo inside the ammo box without having to drop it on the ground. This would be similar to using bandages from the hot-bar when they are inside the med-kit. 3.) Add an open option when right clicking the box (or any container) that allows access to the contents of the box without dropping it. 4.) Allow the box to be dragged onto a clip or gun to load it. If the box has the appropriate ammo inside it should load the clip or gun when dragged onto it. 5.) Allow all ten slots of the box to be viewed when the box is taken into hands.

Wow, that is a lot of stances. I'm not sure I need that many. I would like a single key to be able to switch between the 3 current ones though.

I totally agree that the scroll menu is a bit clunky. But in order to change it they need a suggestion that works better while providing all the same functionality. The only thing I can think of that comes close is a dynamic usage key. Simply check what is in the player's hand and what the player is looking at then determine what the action should be. If you have a water bottle out and are not looking at anything it should drink it. If you have a water bottle out and are looking at a water source it should fill the bottle. etc.

I recently learned how to estimate distance with the long range scope and then zero. The issue I'm having is that no matter what the distance I estimate it seems as though zeroing to 400m always results in the best accuracy. If the zombie is super far away, I hit it perfectly when zeroed to 400 but miss with 800. When it is close I hit it perfectly with 400 as well. I'm using the equation d = 1.8 * 1000 / mildots There aren't mildots so I just estimate. Using that equation I estimated a zombie to be at a distance of 1200m. I zeroed to 800m and missed. I then zeroed to 400m and nailed it. Does this have something to do with the server I am on or is this a bug? Anyone else encountering this issue or no what is going on?

So this is the video I first saw on ranging/zeroing and it seems to work just fine for him. I think this was shot in the DayZ Arma2 mod. And I had seen people saying you can still estimate in DayZ SA even though there are no mildots. Hasn't worked very well for me so far though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKlwwUy03NI

I totally understand that point of view. In which case I think option 5 is perfectly reasonable. Take the box into your hands and actually be able to use all ten slots seems like it would retain all of the authentic usage you're describing but also make the thing easier to use. In case you didn't know taking the box into your hands currently only shows 5 of the ten slots which I'm assuming is a bug.

I really like this idea. Adds a realistic way to get clean water without venturing into a town. I'd be okay with them just adding a funnel you can attach to a bottle. Maybe make it so you have to hold it out in your hands for it to actually fill. I'm assuming ponds and streams will not be clean in the future, and pumps while clean may be surrounded by zombies as I know they plan on dramatically increasing zombie count.

Added show all ten slots when in hands to the main post as option 5.

Server resets are certainly part of the issue as well as dropped items sometimes not appearing or appearing in a place you can't loot such as inside an chair or bush. Regardless, A warning message for server restarts would be very nice.

True, but it is in the game currently and I just want it to be a bit easier to use. Or at the very least not require dropping on the ground and potentially losing it.
-
Hmm, that kinda makes sense. I'll have to try some more. I feel like I'm hitting very easily at insane distances when zeroed to 400m. Sometimes I can barely see the target when fully zoomed and I still hit right on the crosshair when zeroed to 400. I'll try some more and maybe make a video of what I'm observing if the issue persists.
-
I understand that my estimates may be off but why is it that zeroing to 400m always results in dead on accuracy?
-
I feel like there may be some bugs with the falling damage calculations. I walked off a street curb and instantly died. When I re-spawned I started running back to my corpse on my way I ran over a rock that was probably just up to my ankles and broke my leg. My friends were with me when I "fell" off the curb so I got most of my stuff back. Hilariously almost everything I was carrying was ruined.

What, in your opinion, is the most important item in the game?

Vodka! Can't let the apocalypse keep you from having a good time.
