you did not approach the situation with a combatant mentality, (something you MUST do at an airfield.) You approached it with a looter's mentality, and paid the ultimate price for it.

Hopefully, you make a forum account at some point and make this. I logged in and went to the NEAF. I had an SKS. I got shot at from the hills, by a sniper... So I fell back into the hills, and tried to flank. But he was gone. So, I go back onto the airfield. I found you guys in the ATC. I searched your clothing, and you guys were super friendly. Just freshies. Well, the sniper started shooting again. After awhile, I went out to find him. I saw someone drop, which I later found out was Aaron- just a poor sap in the wrong place at the wrong time. I traced the smoke from him being killed, to shoot the sniper and then hatchet him to death. I went back, told you the good news, Fernando. We went to retrieve the items for yourself, but the server restarted. Hoping to see you guys around! -Guppy the Medic

Guppy's Guide To a Confident DayZ Experience LESSON ONE Trust nobody. YOU need to be in control of the situation. Backing away or stopping and saying "friendly, friendly, ok guy I'll stop right here and get on my knees!" will usually result in you being either killed or being a plaything. Scout the situation FIRST. Those guys on the stairs were likely dickheads who were waiting for an unsuspecting person to walk up the stairs and get assreamed. If you had shot them through the window, you could have caught them in a very bad situation, because they were all bunched up in that corridor. (Enfilate- not being able to fire back at the enemy without shooting a teammate. Causes confusion and friendly fire situations.) Approach a situation with CONFIDENCE! They can smell fear, you know... Just approach with your gun raised, but in a non-threatening way, and always hold the better ground! (elevated with more cover is optimal.) Tell them that you are friendly, get the jump on them and keep them at gunpoint. Mixed signals are bad, but come off as confident but helpful. Don't have your gun raised and seem like you don't know how to use it- you will be seen as an easy target. Trust me, mate. I usually have friendly encounters, but most of them are tense- and if someone is posing a threat to you? They are going to kill you. Begging for your life won't do diddly do da SHIT in DayZ. Kill or be killed in those situations, mate.

^ Easy mode private hive servers destroyed the mod. It turned from a legitimate survival game into a shooter no better than the like of open world CoD. Now that I think of it? DayZ got reversed back into ArmA 2 by the PvP community. I hope private hives never become a thing. Ever again.

I, too, had an encounter of similarity. I was down at Balota with my trusty Mosin, seeing if anyone needed help. It had seemed peaceful... Couple people looted barracks, moved on. The normal riffraff. But then I saw around 4 people on the airstrip, in UN helmets, with military grade gear. "Friendly people, cool." But they waited there, they never moved. Until two people came onto the airfield. Dropped them both, with no question. So, I went into action mode and decided I would avenge them. I hit one at a good 800 meters, right in the shoulder- his friend bandaged him behind the barrack. I pushed down low to the airfield, and hid behind the same barrack. The men were gone. I begin to scan, and I see the same man on top of the ACT. (the very very top.) His shirt was ruined, and it only took one more shot to kill him. I assumed his friends were nearby, so I pushed across and came under fire from the ACT window. I fired from the hanger, managing to get off one shot in their general direction until I got killed. I checked the player list 4 people with the tag [uN] in their name. Misleading bastards.

Let me pick this apart. Calling people out for being blunt in a blunt way is a surefire way to look like a hypocrite. My punctuality, my bluntness, or my "Attitude" shouldn't be mistaken for me being "mean" to you. Not to mention how you "bolded up" your own words. By the way, I am more than a medic. I've made several teaching guides and compilations in my time here that I can assume and only hope have helped improve the skill of the lower level player base. I guess you are correct, but it really makes no difference. A brittle arrowhead like flint will snap on Impact of a riot shield, where as a steel arrowhead will punch through. (depending on the material, though I assume we are talking about improvised riot shields.

Oh man, I had this same idea with "Chernarussian Pirate Radio"! Great minds think alike, 'eh? :D The premise I had in mind, is that after items become persistent, I would plant walkie talkies around the map, basically relaying to one another. Then, I could broadcast. :D

The weapon lag would be good if it was JUST the sights- that's realism. Instead, the whole weapon has to turn.
