I think players should turn into zombies after a random time after they ve been hit by a zombie. I don t mean they should control the zombie, but they should die and then get replaced by a zombie. Maybe with a low chance of not turning into one. This is like the biggest threat in every zombie movie : getting hit by a zombie. Do you kill you friend then ? Do you wait ? What do you think ? (sorry if this has been discussed already, couldnt find )

How do you justify that my idea (basically spawning a zombie where you die) would consume more ressource than your idea of creating more viruses, doing lab experiments, having differents kind of zombies or being able to become and control a zombie ??? I seriously don't get it. Everything about my idea already exist in game (spawning zombies, % chance of getting "sick")

Hello, I've been thinking about this idea while playing, I'll explain : I'm the sneaky kind. When I enter a location (base, city, village) I can easily spend 10-15-20 min observing the location, going around, zooming in to see if anyone is there, observing. I like to secure a location befor entering. I also have the sniper/scout role in my team. So sometime, even after securing a zone, someone can just randomly reconnect anywhere, be right behind you (this can also be done with ghostwalking) and ruin all the time you've just spent being sure no one was there. So I tought some areas could be "ban"(edit : disabled) from reconnecting. In theses areas you just couldn't log out/in and you'd have to be at let's say a 1km radius away of that area to be able to log out. If you crash/loose connection you'd just be teleported outside the area. This could also partially solve the ghostwalking problem and I think it's pretty realistic since you can't just appear irl. By areas i'm think about main cities/villages, airfield, ship, castle etc. Maybe this could be countered when they introduce base/construction as you could log out of your base.. Or maybe not. What do you think ?
-
I'm not sure about this one. Because then if you remember where you logget out, and you suddently appear 1km away at log in, you know that there is someone in the area.

If that's how they want the game to be it's fine really. I just think it would add another dimension to have to avoid getting infected and it's why "zombies" ( or whatever you want to call them) are interessting and why you have to avoid getting hit at all cost. Cause right now you could replace them by tigers, snakes, killer rabits or lazor raptors and it wouldn't change anything. And yeah answering "they aren't zombies, they are infected humans." and bring up realism is a bit light for an answer.. Anyway, can't wait to see them stronger and a lot more zombies !

huh okay...and my idea was unrealistic ?

I've searched a bit but found only random conversation about it. Also there's like nothing about it in the first 10 pages of the suggestions section. Is there a web page somewhere with official info like "what is dayz / what it will become / what it will not become" ? So far I found planned features only. Also it's kinda hard to follow dev blog / forum / twiter. If someone could link me to an officiel answer about infections I would appreciate it and not talk about this anymore. It wouldn't need more ressources to the currents sick states. It would be like : you get hit by a zombie -> % chance of being infected -> if infected -> after a random amout of time you die, and a zombie spawn where you died.

I think that overall equipement spawn should be reduced by a lot and that we shouldn t find pristine equipement. Crafting/repairing would then be a lot more usefull.

I don't like the idea of having "classes" in dayz. If they want to introduce specialisation it should be by making some subject so complex that you really have to spend some time to figure it out and master it. Also as it has already been said, some things would need so much part that you kinda need to do only one thing

Duct tape could also be used to mark building, doors etc

some kind of indication for people who kill for no apparent reason

This blood could also attract /respawn zombies a lot more than if you don't have any blood on you -
Thoughts on a small change to logout timer
Kintaro (DayZ) replied to UnderWoods's topic in Suggestions
I never had any problem with logging out as I always go in the woods, in a pine tree, far from anything. Now if they add respawn / agressive animals, etc maybe this should be changed, but right now it's fine for me. -
By banning I meant banning the log in/out function from certain area
-
Well for me this isn't to stop ghost walking but mostly for more realism. As I explained in my first post, if I spend some time to secure a place I don't want people to just be able to log in anywhere. And any timer can't disable that, only discourage (which could be fine depending on the timer duration)
-
did they say why ?
-
Well they should just add more content outside the coast for that
-
Well that's what I was thiking with that feature. Sure you could exploit a bit the teleportation feature, but server hopping is worse that that. If you also add a long timer at log in/out. people wouldn't exploit it all. But only a longer timer would be fine too (and easier to setup)
-
I've heard that also. It's a very interesting and realistic idea but it would need a lot or toughts and tunning. It would also force people to interact with each others. Imagine there's like 10% of player that can repair an engine, repair guns etc.
-
Yep if you just got shot / hit or you just attacked someone the timer should be longer to log out
-
Maybe a longer timer for certain area is more appropriate and can't be exploited indeed. Now I tried to think about server crash / restart too as it happen often now. But I guess in the future, servers will display at what time they restart, or won't restart that much so It won't be that much of an issue. And if you crash, well you crash, can't prevent that. Good points there !
-
Well with that feature it would be a lot more random than ghostwalking/random log in. Yeah there's a small way where you can exploit it (to get tp'd out of an area), but I think it's better than the current situation which you can exploit a lot more. Not saying the game is unplayable right now tough, just think it would add something.
-
There could also be a specific time when relogging in theses specific areas, like 5min, so yeah you "could" use it to get tp'd, but it would be same or longer than running that distance
-
When i say ban i'm talking about banning log in/out function from certain area, not baning players ! Or maybe we'd still be able to log out but would be tp'd out of the area when we relog. This also would help when the server crashes and you're right in the middle of an unsafe area. Indeed I tought about this. Well if there's still a long time befor being able to reconnect to a server i don't think this is an issue but it sure would need to be adjusted so people don't exploit it
-
good idea !

It's been discussed a bit so I wanted to create a discussion about it. In Dayz mod you can see people's name by pointing at them but you can't do that in Dayz SA, which I agree with. IRL you can't know someone's name just by looking at them. In the other hand you can remember someone by seeing their size / face / scars /skin, hearing their voice, smelling them, etc. So we tought it could be cool to have an identification system where you can, by standing close to people, by looking at them, get key features of a person to be able to remember them. Now maybe the more feature you get, the more of an ID you can get, or it can display the name of the person. Maybe this could be stored in a "memory" file attached to you character which you can browse and "remember" people you've seen with features attached to an ID, or a name. The more feature you could get, the more % you'd be able to recognize someone. And then maybe you could share these with others. That could allow to recognize people when you meet them again and get close to them, or describe someone to other player. And maybe you'd be able to conceal some of these features with clothes. What you think ? I'll update this post if it gets any interset and ideas Ofc i can see that this isn't high priority right now.
