    why do YOU play DayZ?

Well, mostly I play because I love the actual idea behind it, the survival aspect. If you don't want to get KOS'd, either head north or be extremely stealthy. What with hunting, fire and cooking coming up, it's gonna be a whole different world. I suggest that you do what OrLoK mentioned. Wait for a big update either experimental or stable, then see if that made you change the way you look at the game.

So what happens when zombies can run up stairs?

I wonder if they'll ever be able to climb ladders - and then fall to their death.. uhm... wait, they're dead already... well, yeah, broken legs on Zomboids work for me! Why should they have it better than we do with the ladders of ultimate peril?

So what happens when zombies can run up stairs?

Eventually, once the AI is closer to be completed, it will be way more fun. Don't get me wrong, I'm having a ton of fun now, but I await the day when they follow some poor fresh spawn all the way to the top of a Police station, and the only way out, since Zeds block the door, will be to either jump off, run around in circles until there's a break to get to the staircase or die by the claws of the undead. Lulz will be had ^_^

So what happens when zombies can run up stairs?

So if the Zeds at some point can actually run / sprint upstairs... How in the name of everything holy are we able to outrun them? I ask this because every time I go up and down a staircase, it's like Slow Motion. You're running, coming to an almost stop at the stairs and creep down. First, fix that. Then fix the Zombie going up some but not all stairs. Then, fix the glitchy Zeds themselves. And then, by all means, give us BARRICADES!!! Wheeee :D
  5. Ah, yes, the Ghost of Green Mountain has done its' deed once more... There is a reason I go neither there nor into any Piano Houses anymore... *shiver*

    DayZ SA - Crash Sites.

If you mean Helicopter crash sites: There are no vehicles / Helicopters etc ingame. Hence no crash sites. Check back with this in Fall this year, by then they may have implemented general vehicles.
  7. So the last few days I finally realized that you can pour Water from a bottle / canteen into another bottle / canteen. Makes sense, is fun. Why can I not do this with, say.. Vitamins? I believe you can do it with Bandages, I'm 100% sure it works with rags. The Tetra Salicyl Tabs (or whatever they're called) not being able to combine makes sense since they come in single packages and not bottles (hope you understand what I mean, the foil packages where you push out one pill at a time, they wouldn't be refillable in RL since the seal would be broken). My question is: Can you combine badly damaged with pristine items? (I know it works with Rags, Ammo and such, but how about a Vitamin Bottle?) And: Are there any other "combineable" items I may have overlooked? Thanks guys!

    Stashing LOOT

It's not that bad of an idea. If we had persistent storage containers we can carry around, like those protective cases, MedKits or maybe even Ammo Boxes (those would be nearly undetectable in a bush or tree if hidden just right), there might be a chance to find some really good spots for them. There are parts of towns like Balota, which barely ever get looted, either players are uninterested since the airfield is so close, or the buildings don't ever spawn anything in the first place. I know the "spawnless" buildings may get changed in the future, but until then there's still time enough to look around, make yourself a nice home on your favorite server, and look for hiding spots no one ever goes to anyway :-)
  9. So, I died. Totally deserved it, went afk and somebody just beat the living dead out of me. Shitteth happeneth. Now, I respawned and realized... things have changed. Wait what? Duh.., adjusted and re-adjusted Zombies, no weapons what so ever... you get the point. My question is: Do you have a different game plan now? Do you "just go for it and run around as a single player or do you play the more stealthy approach? How do you play it in a group when of your members dies and respawns really far away? Did you change your approach in how to deal with Zeds? Do you rely more or less on melee weapons / guns? As for me, I tried to be WAY more quiet, and I can't just run from house to house anymore since now you seem to have to deal with 2-4 Zeds rather than just one. What's your experiences / stories since the latest patch?

    Extreme weather

Well, "run around" was more meant in terms of being outside in falling snow. Sure, if you have snow / sleet / ice on the ground, that would make it difficult to run. I think it would be awesome if they could implement it that walking outside when it's snowing is gonna make you more cold than actually wet. In RL it's quite hard getting "soaked" by snow, provided you wear the right clothing.

    Extreme weather

Hail might be something nice, snow is also a must. Theoretically, you could run around in snow without getting wet, but your temp should drop after about 20 minutes of being idle, longer if you are moving around /running. Right now I understand that lots of people have trouble with rain lasting a while, like up to 20 Minutes. I don't know if that's the balancing that was aimed for, but snowstorms could last hours upon hours... What do you guys think?
  12. As of today I have the same issue. Won't let me delete the files, then also an error occurred saying that the file is in use by another program. Played hardcore all day, no issue. Now all I get is a swift kick :-( If there's any news available about this, I'd love to hear it, this is getting really frustrating.

    Updates...

I do see your point Irish, that would be a good idea. Maybe in the future they'll implement this.
  14. Demonica

    Updates...

Good forums lay in the eyes of the beer holder. It's just become second nature to me to check out the dev tracker every once in a while. Doesn't take more than ten minutes. If there's a real hot update, people will talk about it in the General Discussion anyway, so there's another way of seeing what's new. All in all: I'm happy with it. Sorry that you are not.
  15. Demonica

    Updates...

I thought so. I was just confused by the word "new". That amount of actual "new" objects would have been staggering, to say the least. Oh well, new village. Good enough for me :-)
  16. Demonica

    Updates...

Night_Stalker: Because you want to know what's new, and can't expect people to do all the searching for you. The Dev Tracker actually has some valuable info and gives you a quick overview. If you don't feel like "searching everyone's twitter", then don't and stay uninformed or behind on info that interests you.

    Stashing LOOT

Well, a trap where you actually fall into a hole would be cool. If you don't have a rope or something to help you climb out, you're done for... Sounds almost like fun. As for instant death traps, not so much.
  18. Demonica

    Updates...

3100 new objects? Did I read that right? This has got to be some misunderstanding on my part. Are we talking brand new, never before seen objects here? If so, let me get to the couch so I can faint in comfort... Seriously, I can't believe it. And hey, new village! Yay!

    Stashing LOOT

I think having the stashed items "deleted" if the player who stashed them dies, wouldn't be quite as fun. Think of all the folks who get the chance to stumble over a deceased players camp / stash to grab all the goodies. Sure, if it's a smart hiding place or whatever, it may be easy to re-gear after having been killed, but as was said before: If the Player isn't a total noob, it'll be quite a way from any spawn point. I'd love to make a stash and then post about it on the forum and have people go treasure hunting or geo-caching or whatever. While it still take a while to have enough to do to stay busy and not get to bored with the current state of the game, this might stir things up a little.

    What Do? "End-game"

Hmmm... 100 Books... 35 slot backpack... Good luck with that. I'm actually planning on doing that once persistent storage is up and running :-)
  21. Demonica

    What Do? "End-game"

I don't think that the term "end game" is related to the current state of the game. Isn't an end game more when you talk about the ultimate goal of a game? As in "defeat the boss" or the ultimate monster to reach the end of the game? I don't believe that DayZ is ever gonna have an "end game" in the latter sense. It "ends" when you die and have to start over. Or did I misunderstand the context in which this term was used? Katana beat me to it ^^

    If dreams could come true

I like the idea of large canisters to store water in. I would also love some way to repair a ruined screwdriver or splitting axe. Apparently, weapon cleaning kits repair weapons (duh!), but I still have to find a Sewing kit that can repair badly damaged Backpacks. I can't run around with a ruined backpack forever since at some point stuff may fall out of it. Why u no let me fix dis? Same goes for a rain coat. You can't fix dat up with a sewing kit. Why u no let me fix all my stuffs? Whaa!
  23. Demonica

    If dreams could come true

I actually thought about the third suggestion, and since bases / barricades / build stuff will be implemented at some point, why not be able to decorate a bit? There actually are some players out there who have a weird enough play style to benefit from it. And hey, when it rains and you can't go out, why not have a fire in the fireplace with a cozy bear rug, and a nice print of DaVinci? Why not be able to sew some curtains? They'd keep outsiders from looking in. So, of course, would be barricading the windows. Since I tend to hang around in a house for quite a while many days, I wish I had something to do other than read ingame books or do RL stuff (cleaning the kitchen in RL while waiting for it to stop raining in-game) Other than that, not bad. And let's calm down again. It's worth discussing, but not fighting over.
  24. Demonica

    sooo

WTF did I just read? So you got killed... Uhm.. Yeah. And now what?
  25. Losthanyou: I agree, Fire Axe is still the best item, always has been - and very versatile! I am geared up again (don't care much for guns and ammo), but I am a little bit more careful around the Walkers now. Also, I realized, that the Alcohol Tincture is able to clean rags now (at least I think so unless my rags have always been pristine, and I doubt that), so I am back to basic survival mode. Zombies climb stairs, I didn't believe it until they actually came after me in a green two story house. I feel way less safe now. I love it :-)
