Seriously, I have been there once. Alone. I had never heard of the curse before, so I'm like "Sweet, cool view up there I bet." As I approached, and I'm not kidding here, the entire atmosphere changed. It was "Devil's Castle" creepy, just worse. But, being new to the game, I chalked it up to my intense paranoia it has always instilled in me. I went up the tower. I took a look around. And then, for some weird f*ing reason, I went into full panic mode. I didn't care about the view anymore, just for some unknown reason I wanted to get the hell away from that thing. At that point, I did know about birds making Zed Noises, and normally, pfff, no biggie, but while I was running like a bunny on steroids, the noises started. The completely irrational fear combined with sweaty, shaking hands and a boiling pit in my stomach made this one visit so memorable that I will never, NOT EVER, go back there again. Not alone, not with one person or with ten. Childish, but true. Same thing goes for the ruins of the hotel in Cherno. It's what I call... The NOPE Zone.

Yeah. And once you have all the widdle ducks, I mean Zeds, in a row, you can run out and have them chase you. Your very own personal, brain-eating entourage. You will be bored no more. If you just use a melee weapon. Unless you die. That would be unfortunate. :P

Try the medics, TMW Teamspeak, they are awesome! They'll come and fix you right up! http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/160262-need-medical-assistance-in-dayz-sa-find-your-medic-here/

Did you first play on a regular and then on a hardcore server? You can have one character in each mode, so I'd check that. Same with experimental branch, one char for hardcore, one for regular. Other than that, character wipes are a sometimes occurring, annoying and known issue, it happens and mostly there's nothing you can do about it. Sorry :-/

Well, normally I go into the low loot red or green buildings with the white steps on the side and hunker down there. It only happened once that a Zombie was able to climb the steps. Once you are idle, the zombies go idle as well after a while. Rather than following you up the steps, they walk underneath to your location, while your in the upper level. Try it and see if that's just me or if you have the same results. That strategy so far was 99% fool proof. I can be idle for hours not having to worry about zombies while making lunch or doing a quick cleaning or whatever. Also, on high pop servers, just go somewhere no one else goes Any old hut in Balota will do away from the main street, same with Zeleno, Prigorodki, Berezino... I've been away for hours on end squatting in a small house nobody cares for and no one ever found me.

Getting attached to my gear for the umpteenth time. Me, happy little camper that I am, felt safe enough to go afk for a few minutes to take the dog out. Needless to say I come back to the "You are dead" screen. I then remembered that I was playing on a completely packed server. Had I not forgotten that, I might still have been alive. So, Note to self: If Server full: Find an actual hiding spot, don't just squat behind a bush. Lesson learned, duly noted.

I've spawned there nearly 4 times in a row now (or as close as you can get), and I'm starting to get the hang of it. Now imagine, it's night, You're panicky that someone chases you, and you just ruuuuun... right over the edge where the ship breaks in half and you fall to your death. Happened to me. Twice. I grrrr this! >:( It's so dangerous at night on that thing if you don't know where you have to go.

So what happens when zombies can run up stairs?
Demonica replied to ChimpyGlassman (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Uh... they aren't dead? Fine, let's call them Infected Humans. They want to kill you either way :-P -
Scruffy Bandit, Yeah, I know, it is a two edged sword. It's partly sad, but then again, I believe it will evolve over time. Snipers have to be careful about ruining their victims stuff with their shot, and hopefully at some pint every single gunshot draws a herd of Zed's towards the shooter.

Well, mostly I play because I love the actual idea behind it, the survival aspect. If you don't want to get KOS'd, either head north or be extremely stealthy. What with hunting, fire and cooking coming up, it's gonna be a whole different world. I suggest that you do what OrLoK mentioned. Wait for a big update either experimental or stable, then see if that made you change the way you look at the game.

I wonder if they'll ever be able to climb ladders - and then fall to their death.. uhm... wait, they're dead already... well, yeah, broken legs on Zomboids work for me! Why should they have it better than we do with the ladders of ultimate peril? -

Eventually, once the AI is closer to be completed, it will be way more fun. Don't get me wrong, I'm having a ton of fun now, but I await the day when they follow some poor fresh spawn all the way to the top of a Police station, and the only way out, since Zeds block the door, will be to either jump off, run around in circles until there's a break to get to the staircase or die by the claws of the undead. Lulz will be had ^_^ -

So if the Zeds at some point can actually run / sprint upstairs... How in the name of everything holy are we able to outrun them? I ask this because every time I go up and down a staircase, it's like Slow Motion. You're running, coming to an almost stop at the stairs and creep down. First, fix that. Then fix the Zombie going up some but not all stairs. Then, fix the glitchy Zeds themselves. And then, by all means, give us BARRICADES!!! Wheeee :D -
MEDIC! Soon to be the most hilarious/unfortunate death ever.
Demonica replied to shaeg's topic in General Discussion
Ah, yes, the Ghost of Green Mountain has done its' deed once more... There is a reason I go neither there nor into any Piano Houses anymore... *shiver* -
If you mean Helicopter crash sites: There are no vehicles / Helicopters etc ingame. Hence no crash sites. Check back with this in Fall this year, by then they may have implemented general vehicles.

So the last few days I finally realized that you can pour Water from a bottle / canteen into another bottle / canteen. Makes sense, is fun. Why can I not do this with, say.. Vitamins? I believe you can do it with Bandages, I'm 100% sure it works with rags. The Tetra Salicyl Tabs (or whatever they're called) not being able to combine makes sense since they come in single packages and not bottles (hope you understand what I mean, the foil packages where you push out one pill at a time, they wouldn't be refillable in RL since the seal would be broken). My question is: Can you combine badly damaged with pristine items? (I know it works with Rags, Ammo and such, but how about a Vitamin Bottle?) And: Are there any other "combineable" items I may have overlooked? Thanks guys!

It's not that bad of an idea. If we had persistent storage containers we can carry around, like those protective cases, MedKits or maybe even Ammo Boxes (those would be nearly undetectable in a bush or tree if hidden just right), there might be a chance to find some really good spots for them. There are parts of towns like Balota, which barely ever get looted, either players are uninterested since the airfield is so close, or the buildings don't ever spawn anything in the first place. I know the "spawnless" buildings may get changed in the future, but until then there's still time enough to look around, make yourself a nice home on your favorite server, and look for hiding spots no one ever goes to anyway :-)

As a fresh spawn, how do you deal with Zombies since the latest Patch?
Demonica posted a topic in New Player Discussion
So, I died. Totally deserved it, went afk and somebody just beat the living dead out of me. Shitteth happeneth. Now, I respawned and realized... things have changed. Wait what? Duh.., adjusted and re-adjusted Zombies, no weapons what so ever... you get the point. My question is: Do you have a different game plan now? Do you "just go for it and run around as a single player or do you play the more stealthy approach? How do you play it in a group when of your members dies and respawns really far away? Did you change your approach in how to deal with Zeds? Do you rely more or less on melee weapons / guns? As for me, I tried to be WAY more quiet, and I can't just run from house to house anymore since now you seem to have to deal with 2-4 Zeds rather than just one. What's your experiences / stories since the latest patch? -
Well, "run around" was more meant in terms of being outside in falling snow. Sure, if you have snow / sleet / ice on the ground, that would make it difficult to run. I think it would be awesome if they could implement it that walking outside when it's snowing is gonna make you more cold than actually wet. In RL it's quite hard getting "soaked" by snow, provided you wear the right clothing.
-
Hail might be something nice, snow is also a must. Theoretically, you could run around in snow without getting wet, but your temp should drop after about 20 minutes of being idle, longer if you are moving around /running. Right now I understand that lots of people have trouble with rain lasting a while, like up to 20 Minutes. I don't know if that's the balancing that was aimed for, but snowstorms could last hours upon hours... What do you guys think?

As of today I have the same issue. Won't let me delete the files, then also an error occurred saying that the file is in use by another program. Played hardcore all day, no issue. Now all I get is a swift kick :-( If there's any news available about this, I'd love to hear it, this is getting really frustrating.
-
I do see your point Irish, that would be a good idea. Maybe in the future they'll implement this.

Good forums lay in the eyes of the beer holder. It's just become second nature to me to check out the dev tracker every once in a while. Doesn't take more than ten minutes. If there's a real hot update, people will talk about it in the General Discussion anyway, so there's another way of seeing what's new. All in all: I'm happy with it. Sorry that you are not.
-
I thought so. I was just confused by the word "new". That amount of actual "new" objects would have been staggering, to say the least. Oh well, new village. Good enough for me :-)

Night_Stalker: Because you want to know what's new, and can't expect people to do all the searching for you. The Dev Tracker actually has some valuable info and gives you a quick overview. If you don't feel like "searching everyone's twitter", then don't and stay uninformed or behind on info that interests you.
