Hey...I see you....put your hands up.....
StoutAle replied to River Lizard's topic in General Discussion
You act like I twist what you said, but honestly if you look back at my very first post on this thread you'll see I said I understand your position. We just disagree on being held up. your last post doesn't jive with your earlier post. You have sense backed off considerably on what you do when you hold someone up. As you can see you clearly said if they don't drop there weapon you will shoot them and you will hit them. This is a far cry from what Lone Ranger does so don't lump yourself in with him. You hold people up, he interacts with people in a manner where he's still safe but doesn't tell them to drop there weapon or they will be killed. I called you a bandit because your tactics are banditry like, I changed it to thug or bully because you didn't like bandit and pointed out the dictionary definition of it. Now your defensive but if you read back at our debate you will see how drastically your "if you don't drop your weapon I'll shoot you and I will hit you" has morphed into "Yeah, I see you in X position. Please put away your gun and go to Y position so we can talk.". I'm sorry if I misjudged you, but it's only because of what you said. -

I watched your video and the first one you asked the guy to put his weapon away and he not only didn't but his friend drew his weapon and raised it trying to sight you in. Shooting him before he shot you/at you is your choice but I can't blame you for it. I wouldn't have shot till they shot at me but that's just what makes me feel better about things and again I don't blame you for shooting in that case. You only asked one guy to drop there weapon and it was a sniper, which I thought a bit odd sense you clearly had the advantage being closer range and him in the prone facing away from you, but even so he put it on his back and still didn't drop it and you didn't shoot him. Even the guy that ran up to you with a guy pointed at you (you in the bush with a magnum out) you didn't shoot him. I don't understand stalking the guy with no clothes on, why didn't you just leave him be? After three guys with weapons followed and bugged me like that I'd swing at them too eventually, what do I have to lose? He clearly wanted to be left alone and IMO you were harassing him following him 3 armed people to one naked guy. I didn't understand that one at all. Bottom line is the only problem I have had with the hold ups is when someone says drop your weapon or they will shoot you or if they shoot someone who simply runs away. You really haven't done any so I clearly wasn't talking about you or people like you. The person (Etherimp) that said they shoot runners and demand others drop there weapon completely, I don't understand them and they are no more then bandit thugs looking to be able to justify shooting someone. In the in most states the basis for a "clean kill" (understand this is the BASIS, I don't need a law class from anyone on castle laws and various other reasons, this is the start of figuring out a good or bad kill nothing more) is Ability.. does that person have the ability to kill you? Opportunity.. does that person have the opportunity to kill you?Jeopardy.. are you in jeopardy? Someone running away from you doesn't fulfill these three things so I leave them be. This is a game clearly not real life but it's still a pretty good code to follow IMO. If someone holds you up, and you try to get away from the situation (especially when they told you to unarm) and they shoot you in the back they are the hostile in that case I'll never believe other wise. If someone tries to unarm you it's time to start worrying about there intentions also, if they can't simply have you put your weapon on your back and feel safe or have you point away from them and feel safe then they really must feel inferior in there tactical skills and should stop holding people up in the first place. You made it work in basically every one of them clips on the video, others can also. There is a right and wrong way to interact with someone, starting off with I have a gun drop yours and do as I say or I'll shoot you isn't the best way IMO. -

I point out the negative when someone acts like Robin Hood and then says if you don't do as they say they will shoot you yes. See you said you say hello, you didn't say you'd tell me to drop my weapon. Understand, not put away my weapon but drop it on the ground. To me "hello I'm friendly" is fine I'll talk to you all day. Drop your weapon tells me you want to cuff me and make me your sex slave (and none of us want that trust me). It's all about how you approach the situation. I've never ran from someone that said hello. I never ran from someone that asked me to not point my weapon at them. You tell me to drop my weapon on the ground you have escalated the situation to where I have to wonder what's going on. My "your a bandit" theory starts when you shoot people who aren't a threat to you at that time. If someone runs and you shoot them your a bandit, it wasn't KoS but they weren't a threat. When you force people to interact with you or you shoot them, even if they haven't been actually hostile to you, your a bandit no matter what your theory was when you first saw them. Can someone flank you after they run away? Of course they can, that's a chance I take instead of shooting them in the back when they haven't shot at me first. It's really not a hard concept and I haven't changed up through this thread. Say hello, I'm good. Say don't point your gun at me, I'm good. Hell tell me not to turn around till we talk and get a feel for each other and life is grand. Any of them things and we can talk just fine. Tell me to drop my weapon on the ground and I'm not sure what's going on and I don't see that happening. I won't shoot you, I'll simply leave you be if I get shot in the back so be it I'll start over. -

Well if it was a single player game KoS would be what? Killing zombies? Or would you have AI survivors? I am pretty sure if you had AI survivors people wouldn't randomly shoot them (providing they could be useful). The reason people hand cuff and torture and such is to grief other real life players, that would stop because there is no fun in torturing the AI. Full PvP games will always draw at least a percentage of people who like to do nothing more then make others day on the game suck, it's the nature of the beast. There will also be a percentage that try to do the opposite, the problem is that percentage is almost always hugely outnumbered by the ones that just want to grief. -

The irony is I never said I haven't interacted with people have I? I actually said I have talked to people, the difference between us is I don't shoot them if they run away and I don't tell them to drop there weapon. I'm willing to treat someone decent and not like a hostage and hope that earns trust that telling someone to drop there weapon doesn't earn. -

Still haven't answered my question, have you shot people who haven't shot you and have ran away? We already established you don't hold up people just to help them, you hold up people who are fully geared also just for the interaction so stop saying you do it just to help people. -
Hey...I see you....put your hands up.....
StoutAle replied to River Lizard's topic in General Discussion
Getting handcuffed and tortured might be YOUR idea of fun and you can roleplay what you want but that's not my idea of fun and I'd rather be shot. I don't log in for your fun I log in for mine. Oh and I don't get butt hurt on a game, as I said from the very first post I made on this topic I have zero problem getting gear again kill me and I'll have a blast starting over I've jumped from a building to get killed so I can start over (I don't know how you can start over other then that). I get bored once I'm fully geared there is only so much to do in this game at this time. Call me crazy but I'll never be a willing hostage even to Robin Hood. -

Get off your "mod" high horse, bottom line is you justify shooting people that haven't shot at you and I don't. Mod player or not it doesn't take a lot to determine who's the good guy and who's not. You can write a thesis on what you learned from mod and it still doesn't justify shooting someone just because they run away from you. I also love how you want me to play like my life is on the line but when I mention you holding up someone as a hostile act you want to play the "this is a zombie game" card. If someone held you at gunpoint you'd listen to them, but you sure wouldn't think of them as a friendly would you? Forcing someone to act as you want is being hostile, you do this because you want to and if they don't play along you shoot them. Your right your not a bandit, your a bully or a thug call it what you want. Just stop acting like you do it just to give people stuff because you clearly stated you do it for the player interaction, part of which allows you to shoot people for no reason. Again you create the problem, then when things don't go as you dictate you shoot someone who may or may not be hostile and may or may not simply not want to deal with you. I don't care how you play, just don't try to justify it when your pushing your game play on others and if they don't like it you shoot them for no reason. Again I state I have NEVER shot someone who hasn't shot at me first, can you say the same? -

StoutAle replied to River Lizard's topic in General Discussion
What if they run? Do you shoot them? See that was where the line to bandit hit for me. If you force someone to interact with you and they avoid it and aren't a threat because they run off (assuming they aren't running to you with a gun) do you shoot them? The concept of do as I say or I shoot you is banditry, or if you don't like that word it's being a thug or a bully or any number of other words you can pick from. When you take what I want to do in the game away and force me to do as you want just because you want it that's being a bandit/thug/bully pick your word. I'd rather be shot and leave it be, next time I will be more cautious. I will say this I have never shot someone who hasn't shot at me first. I don't shoot people just because they don't want to drop there weapon, and this has got me shot at before and even killed before but I'm good with that I don't try to justify shooting people who run and aren't a threat to me. I understand that some people have been robbed before and are a bit jittery around others so if they run off I don't sweat it and this concept is what, IMO, dictates if your good or bad, bandit or not. -
Hey...I see you....put your hands up.....
StoutAle replied to River Lizard's topic in General Discussion
Can you just listen to what you say and understand how that sounds? "If you are geared I hold you up because I want a player interaction". If you are walking down the road today and someone holds a gun to you and demands you interact with them what would you call that? Yes, this is a game and things are a bit different because of that but to try to justify holding someone up isn't going to work IMO. Forcing someone to interact with you at there fear of being shot is no better then banditry. Your also changing your tune, you said earlier that if I don't drop my weapon you'll shoot me because that's a hostile act now you say you only killed survivors when they opened fire on you so what is it? You said if someone runs they are not a friendly and you'd shoot them, but that doesn't sound like they shot you first. Seems your doing a lot of double talk to justify your game play. If you ask me to drop my weapon and I run and you don't shoot me that's fine, that's trying to interact and it failed and you said screw it. You said earlier if that happens you shoot them, that's different. So what one is it? Oh, sense you like dictionary terms and think that a term has to follow that exactly.. hold upverb Definition of HOLD UPtransitive verb1: to rob at gunpoint Hmmmm.. now you'll say that's not what you do but you used the term several times in this thread. So are you telling me that terms like Bandit and Hold up can have slightly different meanings then the book definition? -
Hey...I see you....put your hands up.....
StoutAle replied to River Lizard's topic in General Discussion
You expect me to drop my weapon as you force me to act as I don't want to when you could have just left me alone. You make demands and in your words if I don't follow them you will shoot me. That's a bandit. Color it however you want, but it's being a bandit to force people to drop there weapon and do as you want. You won't drop YOUR weapon when we meet but you demand I drop mine or you shoot me (again your words) even if I haven't done anything hostile. Yes, you sir are a bandit even if you rob from the rich and give to the poor your a bandit. It's bandit like mentality to think that just because someone ran they are not friendly. What seems more friendly "stop and drop your weapon" or someone running from someone making demands to drop your weapon? On sounds hostile the other sounds like a survival instinct. So you use all this to justify shooting someone that simply doesn't do what you ask of them. Your a bandit, people do stuff on your terms or you shoot them. You say if you step out and raise your hands unarmed you will you could be shot by unfriendly people. Ya know what, if someone demands I drop my weapon I could be shot by them, what's the difference? You take the fact that YOU know your friendly and act like that's the beat all to end all when in all honesty you create the conflict to start. I have a question for you, do you hold up geared people or only newer players? Because if you hold up obviously geared players then to what end? You going to give them stuff they already have? Your premise is you hold people up to help them, but if you held me up I don't need your help (as is obvious by my gear) so what is your excuse for doing that (if you do)? -
Hey...I see you....put your hands up.....
StoutAle replied to River Lizard's topic in General Discussion
So your a hypocrite? They don't know your friendly or hostile anymore then you know they are. Your the worst kind of bandit, the kind that won't admit it and uses "hold ups" as a way to justify shooting people. I'd rather you just admit you were a bandit and that you will kill someone before they shoot at you then put on this facade of being so high and mighty good. At least I wait till someone is hostile at me before I shoot them, you shoot someone just for not obeying your demands. *edit* Also, as I have stated before, a good amount of people that hold up someone (except on HC servers) don't really have a shot at them. They are looking around a corner or over a fence or such so to be honest the person being "held up" isn't really in any danger if they realize where they are and run the correct way (which is going to be the way they are facing because the bandit (if you hold someone up your a bandit) is going to be behind them. So your chances of running and surviving are much better then they want you to think. -
Increase The Rendering Resolution To See People More Easily

Really? *looks again* I still don't see it. I also think that if it's 100% difference and you have to look that hard to see if there is a difference then there really isn't enough to worry about. -

I'll be completely honest I had LASIK surgery, my eyes are crazy good now and I can't see any difference in the two pictures at all. Maybe my monitor isn't as good? I don't know. -
Understand.. you... are.. not.. fumbling.. around.. in.. the ... dark. Get it? Your walking around in the dark without a flashlight and still able to see. I don't care how you play (as I said before) have fun and do what you want, but call it what it is and that's walking around in the dark able to see without a flashlight. At no point did I complain, I pointed out your topic didn't match your video IMO. That's it, I said play how you want I don't care. Have fun, but all the "bro" and condescending type replies isn't going to make up for the fact there was no fumbling around in the dark. I didn't say you were cheating either, ironically you mentioned that word, seems someone is sensitive and defensive and it's not me.
-
It's not just holding it still, if you have ever looked through a scope like this it's about the distance between your eye and the sight, you wouldn't ever be able to accurately look holding it up like this in your hand, add in the lack of stability and it would be impossible. They could make it work like this, but it's completely unrealistic to how a LRS would work if you tried it for real.
-
Honestly you said you had the gamma up and the brightness up. You also said "changing your gamma and brightness to be higher is perfectly acceptable". I'm not whining, play like you want but don't say "fumbling around in the dark" when it's not really dark like it is when I log into a server at night unless you expect someone to say something about it.
-
I love it! Try playing at night it's uber awesome! Oh and I turn my gamma so high it look like daytime anyway and no one has to use a flashlight but don't worry about that. Really? I just don't understand how this is "night time" playing.
-
See I don't get it, I get happy when a server restarts even if I have to take the time penalty. Means chances of new loot, and if your into gun fights it means people running to get the loot. It's really a win win situation. Who cares about the few minutes you can't play the game talk about a sense of entitlement. Oh and to everyone who says they were kicked by admins, I have played for a while and have friends that have played sense this game came out and not one of us has been kicked by admins from a server. I'm positive it happens (I've seen videos of it) but it's not near as often as people make it out to be.
-
When you have scopes that can range out to 800m and the normal vision is 200m it seems natural that binoculars are added (and as we know they will be). Only one that would dislike this are the snipers and honestly all it does it level the playing field at least some.

Survey: How many of you played the Mod or ArmaII/III?
StoutAle replied to airfell's topic in General Discussion
I went backwards actually, I normally hate FPS games but my friends talked me into Dayz SA I love it but honestly mostly play when they are online. So I grabbed the mod recently and play it some now also. -
A big reason people wear the same gear is it's advantages. TTsKO gives more space to put stuff. Forget the look, gas mask gives your face some covering easier to hide then a white face (assuming your character is) and the ballistic helmet protects you best. When you set up a game where some gear is simply superior then other gear with no reasonable options people will look cookie cutter happens in every game. Give more options that are reasonably an option that doesn't give away a tactical advantage and people might use them. Oh, yes I am sure they will add more gear of course I'm just saying the obvious reason of the cookie cutter looks currently.
-
I stopped reading at "I logged out in a tower". Really? Why would you do that? If you have played the game for more then a minute or read the forum at all you know falling deaths happen often and walls/floors are bugged. Drop an item on the 3rd floor pick it on my the 1st floor half the time.

StoutAle replied to River Lizard's topic in General Discussion
Well I don't see why you don't agree with me not wanting to waste my time with someone who wants to hold me up, but if your idea of fun is taking commands from someone then by all means you do that. I don't see that as any kind of fun. As I said I don't mind getting gear again, I'm not here for your enjoyment so you or anyone one else isn't going to EVER hold me up. If you tell me to disarm myself your hostile and I will shoot you when I have a chance. You never answered why you don't tell the person you are dropping YOUR gun and coming out to see them. You want them to trust you but you don't trust them, that's what I don't get. True show of faith is you drop YOUR weapon and we can talk. I am willing to bet you don't do that ever so I don't ever see me doing that either. Pointing a gun at someone and telling them to unarm is a hostile act, might as well just shoot me it will teach me to be more careful next time. If you try to hold me up one of us is going to end up dead OR I'll get away at no point am I spending my time doing what some guy "commands" me to do and saying "yea this rocks, give me more of this fun". Not happening. If you can't see that concept isn't fun then so be it, but I go back to the fact when you run across someone next time you drop YOUR weapon and show the good faith then come talk to me. -
Hey...I see you....put your hands up.....
StoutAle replied to River Lizard's topic in General Discussion
I completely understand what your saying and I get it, but we have to admit your the exception not the rule in this game. If your not on a HC server 90% of the people who tell you they see you are seeing you over a wall anyway or around a corner without any sights on you really. They want you to drop your weapon so they have the advantage, what they do after that is up to them. I don't play this game to kill time waiting to see what someone else wants to do with me. Understand, my favorite part of this game is the journey to getting gear. Once I have a bunch there isn't much to do anyway so I don't mind getting killed and losing my stuff. What I don't want is someone handcuffing me and me wasting time not having fun (because that doesn't sound like fun to me). The irony is you want ME to drop my gun and trust you (and no I shouldn't just trust you because you see me and don't shoot me because as I said a good part of the time that person seeing you is using 3pp and couldn't shoot you then anyway) so why don't you drop your gun and come out and see ME? For your protection right? So screw that, if you want your gun for your protection I want mine for my protection too. You don't trust me, but I'm to trust you completely? Nah, sorry, you might be sent from the heavens to help me but the other 90% of the people I have ran into try to kill me so it's hard for me to just assume your not going to also. Me and people like me aren't part of the problem, blame the high percentage of people who KoS and never give us a chance to trust anyone else they create this mess. Or the people who say "we are friendly" then cuff you steal all your gear and leave you or shoot you anyway after they take your gear so it's not ruined. Again, no thanks, you want to make friends with me, say you are friendly then drop your gun. Then I can trust you (at least at that point for the time being),
