Um "game=ruined (for now)" seems like a bit of an overreaction. Not saying you didn't get killed by a hacker, but all online multiplayer games struggle with hackers from time to time. Keep it in perspective.

Katrina was isolated and a microcosm with ready access to all kinds of still-functioning society. DayZ presupposes a widespread cataclysm...there is no outside help to call on. You're making a false comparison. I simply used Katrina as an example of how people behave when there is no system of consequence in place. I did not compare Katrina to a post-apocalyptic society. Clearly my "All that being said, people don't really need the threat of starvation and death to abandoned any sense of human decency." transition statement wasn't noticed in your studious review of my post.

Stats are coming per Rocket. How exactly and when has not been determined. One scenario under consideration is to have a database of statistics being compiled that is accessible outside the game via a website. This info game from Eurogamer's live-stream with Rocket earlier in the week.
