Oh fun - all geared up 12 hours ago, now naked. Fun.
Lumeria replied to Death By Crowbar's topic in General Discussion
What is painful for me to see it when people defend a game they love and are unable to see its flaws, or when people whom complain are called whiners or are said to not understand. I GET it is Alpha, I read that disclaimer I know but does that excuse it from criticism? NOPE! But at the same time you should not review it like it it's Full release. Instead review it in the terms of how well the Alpha is in terms of how an Alpha should be, and what direction the game is going and what effect that will have on the game itself. The SA Alpha is not a fantastic Alpha nor it is terrible, hell it is better hen some full releases we get now days but Still it deserves criticism. The OP's criticism? No he is clearly just angry he lost his gear. But that of someone who can look at it in terms of it being an Alpha, who knows it is suppose to have flaws but can judge it as an Alpha? Yes, I see no problem with that at all. -

I agree with OP in the sense that just because a game is in Alpha does not mean it should be protected from criticism. Even Alpha's can be judged to a certain extent. Now don't get me wrong, I get it is not finished but that does not excused it from being a terrible Alpha or from being a fantastic Alpha. In my opinion it is an ok Alpha, which has some major flaws it should not have even as an Alpha. The zombies going through walls is in my opinion inexcusable even in Alpha, and should have been fixed before the Alpha's release even if we had to wait a few more months. Now before you say something to the effect of "you're mad because you got killed by one" I have never been killed by a wall ignoring zombie as of yet and don't plan to. In my opinion, having this in an Alpha is like leaving part of the map unfinished, so if you went there you'd just fall through the floor. In summary, just because a game is Alpha does not mean it can be excused for everything. -
Is there a video we can see?

I am 50/50 when it comes to regretting buying the SA. On one hand I have had some great times playing the game, from just being stupid to actually trying to play the game, and I have also had some good discussions in these forums which have also been entertaining and in some cases a way to learn or adapt my opinion. However, I have come to dislike the way some people act in the game, and while they are free to do as they please it annoys me every time some random just chases at me swearing at me for no apparent reason. I am fine with swearing, but if you want to kill me at least get it over with instead of dragging it out with childish swearing to puff yourself up. Also I only really bought the game fur to a friend, and I believe it will never see a full release, as I do with many early access titles, and thus regret buying it.

The idea is a good one but my concern is that people will gather loot and burn it just to annoy others and for no tactical purpose at all. Other then that I have no objections.

I would like this topic to be deleted as it is clear that people are too lazy to bothered reading my thread and it has turned into another KOS thread which was not my intent. My thread was suppose to be about IDEAS fm KOS threads and not KOS itself. It thank those who were not sheep and tried to be constructive.
-
I do not enjoy bing disrespected especially when I was perfectly nice to you. My thread is about how ideas from KOS threads about how to stop KOS should be listened to as they may be good enough to be implemented in future or at least a subject for discussion. I see I was correct in my original assumptions that you did not read it.
-
I did actually use the search function, to look to see if anyone discussed using ideas from KOS threads and found none. If I missed one by all means post it. If your referring to the KOS part of my thread which is suppose to be a minor part, then yes there are other threads and this is not suppose to be one of them. Also if you are referring to the KOS part, please read my entire threads before posting like you did. Thank you.

I thank you for actually listening to my idea and responding, even if you don't think it is a good one. I can also see the point you make when you say ideas from those affected by KOS will be bias. While this can be true the blood spatter idea is an example where the bias is at a very minimal level. It is not made to punish KOS but as a feature for all players to be affected by, and even if you dislike the idea, it would fit into the realism aspect of the game. From posting this thread I can see your point when you say people will not respond well to this type of thread. I was hoping for a decent discussion, but what I have seems to be people who jump on one part of a thread and not all of it, which is sad. I did not mean to create another KOS complaining thread is seems through the actions of others I, and my opinion on the subject I did. I have no problem with KOS, even though it is a minor problem at the moment as it is simply used as a way to be entertained and not a genuine survival choice. I will never seek to ban KOS or restrict it in anyway, unless it is killing the game, which It is not and I doubt it ever will. While I see it as annoying and a problem until more feature are added, I understand it is part of the game. I hope to have another discussion with you soon. Thank you for responding to my posts.

What my post was about is that THREADS about KOS can provide ideas which could be implemented it eh future. At no point was this suppose to be a discussion about KOS, but sadly people don't seek to want to read or just ignore my posts point.

Yes, as I remember if you changed, went deep enough in water or used another method to remove the blood, it would no longer be a problem for you. So if you went hunting and go some blood on your vest it could be washed off in the sets or at a pump for example. While this may seem to lessen its effectiveness, it would still work if the person didn't bother removing the blood or wore it is a badge it would still be a warning sign about the person.

One idea I saw discussed which I think would be a good idea is a sort if bounty hunter system. It would not be just for those who KOS but accessible for everyone. The basic idea is that you can put a bounty on a player in the server your on using items you have. People can choose to accept to try and complete the bounty or not. While not the best idea in the world, it could be a neat thing for the game or a mod in the future.Another idea, which is more though out is blood on clothes. Basically if you kill and animal, or person or find a body and go up to search it, you get blood on you. It would apply to everyone not just those who KOS and would give players warning that maybe the person is dangerous and best be avoided. While it would not affect KOS that much it would be cool and a fairly realistic feature to implement. Both ideas are not mine, but I could not find their threads.
-
I do apologise if I am wrong, but the idea of my thread was not to talk about KOS and if it is a problem, but the ideas that can be generated from threads about the subject and that some are actually pretty good. I am sorry if my post confused you or if I mistake the reason for your posts.
-
I do apologise if I mistakes your posts meaning, but it is my opinion that KOS is a minor problem in the game. As I stated while it may annoy me, I get it will always be there and don't mind it. I don't want this to turn into another KOS thread where someone complains about it and then a torrent of people follow either totally agreeing or disagreeing, we don't need more of those. The idea if my thread is to highlight that good ideas can come from threads about KOS and that people pay attention to those threads, it is not suppose to be a KOS rant/complaining thread.
-
I don't think you read my post, and if you did, you did not get it. The main idea of my thread is that looking at ideas in KOS threads, would be a good thing as not only does it promote community discussion but it may lead to good features being implemented. KOS is a minor problem at the moment, mainly because of the lack of things in the Alpha of course because it is Alpha, but it is a problem, even if a minor one.

Please Add The Ability To Text Over The Radio
Lumeria replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
I agree with this idea 100%. I have never and probably never will use a mic in dayz, as I prefer text chat while it might interfere with so called "realism" people need to remember this is a game. Sometimes realism needs to be put aside somewhat to make the game better for players, such as the idea presented. It saddens me (but does not surprise me) that amount of ignorance and seeming stupidity coming from people in this topic. As stated by those who posted before me, there are many reasons why people don't use a mic, and people should not be forced to. Also people seem to be forgetting that Dayz is not only played by Americans win access to cheap mic's. All the stores mentioned in this thread are not even in they country where I live. -
I have no issues with this as long as: 1. There should be no military, police or any other class which can be armed with a gun. If there must be this class, there guns should not be loaded or they have a melee weapon of some description. It would suck if you could spawn with a loaded gun, so you could just shoot people after spawning, and also be unfair to those who worked for their guns. 2. The perks should be reasonable. There should be no over powered perks which give an unfair advantage. I have no problem with a chef cooking meals less likely to burn or to undercooked food, but a chef never burning or under cooking food is not a good idea. 3. As someone above suggested, the clothes should be found anywhere. 4. It should be an option for servers to turn off or on if they choose. Some people would really dislike this idea, so giving people he option to avoid it would be a good thing.

To DayZ or not to DayZ: that is the question.
Lumeria replied to gadyuka's topic in General Discussion
There is no way anyone can know if it will be ever be completed until well it is. I have my doubts because it is a PROMISE of completion meaning it may never be completed. Could it though? Of course it could, but my experience with many of these games is the opposite. Now don't get me wrong I am in now way saying Bohemia will never complete it hey very we'll could. Just a promise is no guarantee so I think it is ok for me to be skeptical. -
Again, if it is only seen by you, it could be used as a reason to KoS. Also people in groups usually use SKype, TS3 etc to communicate with each other, so they already know each others positions etc. Also the similarity in gears would go away once more is added. If we do add you feature it would make gunfights unfair as people would know who or who not to shoot, where not you need to think before shooting.
-
I agree it is fine as is, also making things invisible just because your in TP would be a terrible decision.
-
I don't think the exploits from this feature would be small. No only would be potentially teleport behind a player or in front of them (essentially supporting what your trying to prevent) but as was mentioned above people would use this to basically combat log, making fights in the areas with the feature someone pointless. Why fight if your opponent can just log at any time? Even with the 30 second log out feature combat logging can still happen, I know that when watching play throughout people sit for a minute or so, before advancing on an enemy if there is not sight of them. The only punishment for people who would manipulated these people would be a 5 minute max wait time, which is nothing.

Lumeria replied to gadyuka's topic in General Discussion
We took a risk when we purchased the SA, as in we may being paying for something that will never be totally completed. I doubt that it will, simply because I think it's popularity will sink before it's completion and Bohemia will just let it rot. This view was increased with news of Rocket leaving within the next year or so. I have however had much fun with this gem even in alpha and feel that I have had my money's worth in that regard. -
Yeah the new spawn immortality thing I can see being very easily manipulated, so no to that. I totally agree with pumpkin picking though. When I first logged into the SA I spent 5 minutes trying to get a pumpkin.
-
I don't think this is needed. You should take some responsibility for your character, when it comes to logging in and logging out. Go hide in a bush or away from towns. If your on the coast and geared perhaps stay always from high traffic roads and stuff, it would save you a lot of grief. I may support this for fresh spawns, once spawning is more implemented and can handle it, but again what if someone is JUST outside the radius as you spawn in? Makes it pointless if they see you.
-
Couldn't this increase the rate of KOS. If someone is not marked as "friendly" I know people would just outright shoot them. I think I prefer the way it is now. You have be careful abut who you go near which is a good thing, it helps people learn about social interaction in Dayz.
