Hello there I'm looking for ways to find each-other and group up. How do you do it? tips and tricks are appreciated. (note, no dreaming about adding things to the game, just ways in the current experimental build) I have friends that aren't good at orienting them self, or cant see the difference between the 3 airfields, or cant tell if they are in gorka or in vybor. They don't know the map, and they don't know the names of anything except from the 3 biggest cities. How do you manage to find them, or guide them to a location you meet up. The players i play with have different orientation skills. Some have a built in compass in their head, some can only find their way using the map-marker (in the mod). Do you come to their location? do you navigate them to yours? do you agree on a city to meet in? What if you are 3 or 5 players?

I've noticed there's a difference between servers. some are bad in every aspect. takes forever to join, changing item in your hand, using item/food takes alot of time ect. Some servers are however smooth and great! Try UK 02, 03, 04. they are kind of good. alot of the EU/SWE servers lag/have delay. but not every UK server are good. it depends on how often they restart or how long ago it did restart. id suggest you try a new server every time you play, and take a note on some paper about how much lag you get. maybe post the results so everyone can use the info! I use uk 02 for regular and uk 04 for hardcore i think. but they're usually full. i just keep trying, until someone leaves. (on experimental)

In the mod we usually had one guy in the air at all times, so anyone spawning in just called it on ts3 and waited on coast. This meant that new players that didnt know the map could be with us in action. there was no need to learn the map if you never drove the helicopter or the vehicle we used to do missions or assault clans. now that those players join in standalone, there's not a helicopter patrolling the coast picking up clan members =P the helicopter also picked up players when they was done at a mission, or if their car broke down. or dropping of at a new mission, or at one of our bases. really made it so there was no waiting time. also they could spot enemies activity. having a helicopter in the air is a great addition to any dayz clan.

Remember we was attacked by a team in a black hawk with minigun, they had someone jump out and take sniper positions. and shot from the air. we jumped on a ally ts channel and got backup from a black hawk of our own. air battle and ground battle at the same time. I held suppressing fire using a M240 scoped. others went in the woods to flank their sniper. we shot the gunner in their helicopter, and then we tracked it to their base. then we jumped into a few 50cal Humvee and got after em. was fun. I think everyone on both sides died multiple times but thanks to helicopters in the air. we had ppl back in positions in no time. we also had a gear up base at pusta (just above electro) with helipad for ,maximum efficiency =P Its gonna be great when this comes to standalone. but for now, I just play when there's a new update.

Just wait till base building, vehicles and helicopters are added. Most fights will be clan vs clan, most likely north somewhere assulting another base. With the lack of transportation, its easy to just stick close to spawn. also 40ppl is not enough to keep the whole map full of action making a small part of the map used makes it so its easier to find action. In the mod, spawns was on the coast, between kamenka and solincity. but most of the pvp happend north of stary trader city. When someone died, or we lost a squad, we had someone patrolling the air. helicopter taxi for our clan, from the spawn, to base for gear and into battle. if you died you was geared up and in battle within 15min. I played on a server who was split in 2 teams or clans, sweeden vs russia (most players was from sweedish or russian) Its not like ppl was running and had deathmatches on the coast. nobody was on the coast, exept from solo players (untill they was contacted and joined a side if they wanted) Just wait, the deathmatches on the coast will fix itself once the game has more content. theres nothing wrong with neaf, or the spawns. theres just nothing to do once geared. theres no endgame,, no enemie base, no safe to stash full of gold, no base to build. but there will be! just wait =P

Great suggestions! makes my life easier! retti and pacpac made most sense so far. Dayz is so much more fun traveling with others. We usually travel the map. I don't like to hang close to the spawns. I will also make a camp, or base. that way everyone is used to travel from spawn to that camp. for now its just a fireplace at some ruins.

I got the solution!! Make a checkbox option under "options->gameplay" called Allow playerlist. If you check the box your able to press P, and if you dont you cant press P!! Everyone wins the arguement! As for not seeing how many are online when looking at the server list. Make a 3rd party program like dayz commander, and make it as you like. then you dont need to see how many are online!!

That's my problem, we get bored and log off before finding each-other. We use the online map! yes ofc but its still hard when you don't have a compass. Where do you find compass/binoculars consistent? its so great having tools to help navigate!!

I wish the pvp log thing from the mod was used (or the idea) if you or anyone within 50meters from you fire a round, your "in combat" for 30sec(reset timer whenever someone fires a round). The logout button is grey (not clickable) when your in combat. If you alt-f4, you are unconscious for 5min the next time you login. Also there was no hive was there? Every server i played on was a different "hive", meaning you could not move your position without being on that one server. Also "a" server was a community. people had bases, clans, enemies/allies all on one server. not a hive of multiple servers. I don't understand why we have a hive actually. why can i not have different character on every server. this is so weird.

Imagine the current zombie, when they have fixed their path finding inside buildings and so they cant walk through walls. if you faced 50 of them in the street of berezino. Would be FUN, emptying your magazine into the mass and watch em fall!! I thing path finding and amount of zombies will fix most issues. you would not run into a major city with a axe anymore, this would make smaller towns more populated also =P -
I use the Blaze 95, and a revolver/1911. Its my favorites, but I've stopped min/maxing gear, I only use gear that looks good and fits together. Sometimes I'm a sheriff, sometimes i only wear pink =P

Compared to the mod, the zombies are WAY easier! You can kill them with a pistol! you can kill them with a axe without taking damage! In the mod i could loot balota-electro and make my way to stary for a car and not have a single zombie kill. running and looting buildings with 2 entrances. I could out run them between cities. In Standalone they are a easier! Well i can't loot properly with 5-6 running behind me as i used to(they are not slow inside buildings), but i can just KILL them instead. I've ran through a city and piled up zombies. then killed 10-20 of them with a axe ffs! dont even got hit once.. its all in your movement, not your weapon. I'm working on my dodging skills tho, I'm forcing myself to not kill the last zombie, and have it on my tail when looting. Getting better and better. soon ill start with 2 zombies after me. -
So how soon before the first DLC? And what effect will they have?

Atleast in the mod, what features you got depended on what server you played on. Some had missons, some had serge AI, ect. If they give more features away in a DLC, they must have dlc spesific servers? the dlc merly allowed you to join those servers with those features? I think most of the mods will come to dayz standalone, with a new dayz commander. like epoch, namalsk, overwatch and so on. And that standalone itself is more like the mod was in the beginning. -
Well I found that when you aim the gun model has to cover the persons head or you'll shoot way to low. if you saw his chest as you shot, you would have hit he'es toes. This only goes for the shotgun tho. i think its easyer to just use the small dot to aim and not right-click zoom. I usually gear minimalist, and like to use the shotgun/blaze 95 as my main gun. both is very effective.

Ammo Calibration : Poll & Discussion

I think it would be great if extra rare/good/special rifles have a separate ammo/caliber. Just like the Mi17 and FN FAL in the mod. And i think there should be more "common/shared" calibers as well, maybe 2-3 new types. Depending on how many weapons are to be added ofc. The fact that guns are modular makes it so there's "fewer" than in the mod but that's totally fine/understandable (like the 5 different M4/M16's with different attachments/scopes/silencer was different "guns".) -
Hello, i managed!! Cooked 4 pieces of fish on a fire with 5 logs and 0 stone inside a shed. It took about 27-30min total. I stayed within 1 meter of the fire the entire time. I placed the fish inside after i lit the fire. Heres a print screen if if works:

did you walk away from it at all? like 5-10meters from it? or did you stay in your inventory over it for 11min? And can the server "lag" make it not cook? what server was you on? i used a UK 0-2 among others. have anyone cooked something on this server?

Hello there! Just got a noob question, sry if this is the wrong place to post. Me and my friend has DayZ Standalone on steam, and steam updates the game automatically. but we seem to get different versions of the game. I get version 1.1.0.35.115188 My friend gets 1.1.0.36.xxxxx (cant remember) I cant update to he's version, or cant find out how, steam thinks i got the latest version. also if i copy my folder to he's pc, he updates back to that version auto. As of the time i write this, http://dayz.gamepedia.com/Changelog states that MY version is the latest version, so i cant understand why he got a bigger number on hees version number. Is there any way to fix so we get the same version? thx for all answers in advance!

Got it fixed, after alot of wierd seaches on the web and in steam options! He was opted for beta testing in the dayz properties, so when he desabled it, he got the "older" version as me back!!
