    lets hope the final game, after beta is only private hives. having more smaller shards in the hive cant be that hard. even if it would mean that they needed more servers(physical servers/hardware) just for the database it would be worth it.

    So you could technically then server jump industrial to find building materials for a base?`if the barricading system allow'es for building in a way similar to epoch. That's just weird. If this is the case then I hope all place-able objects (that stays over RS) is also gonna be similar on all servers on a hive. When you place something out it appears/is placed on every server. That way you could not ghost into a base using a different server. And i don't see why cars should not do the same. The only reason for more servers if to allow more players than 40ppl to play Dayz at the same time. and that's still possible.

    Just for the lolz, imagine cars being added when there's this hive(or as it is now), if you where to find a car, and drive it around. would that car also be driving around empty on all the other servers using the same "Shard" in the hive?`What if 2 players on different servers controlled that same car. this would be hilarious. Imagine driving/shooting with a 50cal Humvee and killing players on 10 servers at the same time (as the gun fires on all servers)!! would be sick.

    Yea! Imagine if cities and airfields was packed like in the walking dead. For instance like the start of the show where the sheriff is trapped inside a tank in some city. Would also make gear hard to come by when playing alone. And would make players group up in attempt to loot a airfield.

    Yea exactly. Can anyone confirm finding one today, whenever you play and bump into one? I haven't found one in almost a week.

    I think a hive is group of servers who uses the same storage for storing players characters. In my understanding there's several of these, meaning that you can have a character on each hive. I have one character on the regular hive and one on the hardcore hive. on both experimental and stable. so depending on what server I join I get the same gear/character as last time I played on a similar server type. I use one of the hives (hardcore) when i play with a group of friends. When i play alone i use regular. That way I don't split up with them, so I'm back where I left off the next time I join hardcore together with them.

    That's true! But I've found one server who is its own "hive". UK 0-9 (experimental). Every server restart you start as a new spawn on this one server. My other characters on other servers stay intact. Idk if this is a bug. If I leave the server and rejoin it, I spawn on the coast as a new spawn, no matter if the server has restarted or not. (I've done it a lot so its not a 1 time coincidence) I like it kind of, as you never get "fully geared" before you reset.

    Suits in white, brown, grey and black. and different colored tie's. I used "Agent 47 as nick in the mod, maybe ill be able to use it in the standalone if they add this!

    I've seen the helicrash 2 places so far. using http://dayzdb.com/map/chernarusplu 041 068 - been there 2 times on different server restarts. 071 057 - seen it on 3 out of 8 server restarts that I've been there past few days

    why would you even know all the locations? I can understand new players using online map, but id rather not know about everything. makes for more interesting exploration.
  12. But seriusly!! With the way the map currently is. There's a lot of military bases west-ish on the map. And Balota is HUGE compared to the mod. neaf is now the smallest airfield! Its only reasonable that we start on the east-side and work our way west! And its a nice change of pace to get game! I kind of like it. I dont like the deathmatch, but i don't think spawn points solves that, there's been a lot of changes to them, yet the deathmatch lives on, its just changed its location. More content and more activities to do solves that problem i think.
  13. I've made a camp, went hunting and cooked the meat on the fire. you need to improvise camp atm tho, but its doable! I used the ruins near one of the castles.

    Had a play session just now. Went from my base (074 062) north towards Gvozdno looking for food. To my surprise i found a dead cow in the fields!! just south of the town, maybe 1000m away. The animals are rare in the middle of the map. haven't seen one too often. But its nice with some competition. Now i must be cautious as there might be another hunter lurking the woods ^^. I'm playing on server UK 02 experimental mister whyherro123.

    I hope it will become a fight to survive. weather, sickness, hunger and the zombies. and that players will not shoot eachother. Atleast one some servers called RP server or PvE if its not on every server.

    Counteracting server hoppers

    Ive been wondering about that. (noob question incomming!!) IS a single server that is the only serrver you have that caracter on, like most dayz epoch servers considered a private hive? why is it called a "hive" and not simply a "server" I understand if 10 private servers use the same "caracter save" like it is now on standalone, but why "hive" when its a single server?

    Hi got a few ideas for hardcore servers. You got one (1) life.You don't respawn when you die.Once your dead you can never play on that server/hive again.You don't have a dot in the middle of your screenYou dont get "bleeding" as a status. (you must look at your body and check)Gear's quality is only visible by how damaged it looks. not a text saying it to you (like damaged in yellow) It might get alot of negative feedback, but i think this could work. If its a private hive or like in the mod, where every server was a different hive (you had different character on every server) think about it. is 1st person really that hardcore?

    what if nobody died as a result of this crazy rule. that nobody killed anyone but zombies. this would make it so you don't suicide, and KoS. your characters life is worth something more than your gear; the ability to play =P
  19. Im new to the idea of pve server. what are you doing when you got a base, a heli and your safe full of briefcases? Or is it meant to be very hard to get there? So you'll have more fun getting your first safe, base, ect. Also, question about the rules. (no stealing is allowed) does this mean you dont need a safe or lock on your doors? as its not allowed to take something from a unlocked base/storage shed?

    I like the idea of audible feedback when you bleed, good idea. I can understand mos1ey's argument about 1 life. maybe a middle ground is more possible. what about one life per server restart. its more punishing to die than regular servers. NOTE this only works when there's no hive. when you got a different character on every server. I hope it will be like that in the future (that there's no hive) no matter how easy hardcore is.

    Its not hardcore if you got multiple lives. There should be a penalty for dying, more than on regular servers! Wiki: Hardcore (The opposite of "softcore"), a video game character dies permanently forcing the player to create a new character or restart a game. Also, a measure of difficulty to the extreme and not for casual gamers.

    I understand what you say. this is a zombie survival game, not battlefield. If you can imagine the zombie hoards from the walking dead. 100's of them packed in every city. then maybe the fight is human vs zombie. you need a clan of 5-10 ppl to make a assault on the neaf to even try looting it. for snipers in the woods for overview of the situation and a squad entering the site killing 500+ zombies. imagine that! Any lonely wolf would be happy to barricade a house and just survive. there would not be any pvp, as most good loot required you to kill 100's of zombies. most would use basic bolt action weapons as you can find them in a barn. Also I wish that Hardcore servers would copy the idea from Diablo 3, once you die on a hardcore server your basically banned from it. you have one life, no respawning! this would remove KoS on hardcore servers i think!

    could you take a print screen of the building? there's one entrable factory building from the mod who isn't in SA. like the one with the fire station north of electro for instance. is it this one? I've not tried to go to the roof on it in the standalone. but with a helicopter once they are added it should be easy!
  24. I usually change positions regularly. Don't camp the same building. you should have moved out. one looks left, one right as you leave the building. covering both sides. then walk the long way around the building checking 360 degrees. one should take position in the treeline while the other covers him. the one in the treeline can give info on enemies movement and such as well as taking down enemies. you should change position again if you shoot, or get spotted. the other can clear the buildings, or eventually run to a treeline in a different direction. so you have one guy at the south side and one at the west side of the site or something. Note that you can (or I can) kill with iron sight at 500-800meters. with blaze 95, sks and mosin. the scopes are really for noobs.

    Lag is getting on my nerves

    I saw something about this somewhere. Path finding is done on the server side in addition to the client side. if they calculate different routes, the server side calcualtions "win" thus you get pulled to where the server calculated that you went. This is only a problem in experimental, i think its the reason why the current update haven't been pushed to stable. I think they are working on this problem!
