Hey I had a standoff in the prison where 5 of us inside the building vs 4 of them outside. Had 2 drum mags which proved very valuable in spamming suppressive fire through the door. But in the end, I cannot think of any other situation to use it in. Minus is you must have 4 slots empty in your inventory when you reload or the drum mag drops to the ground. To conclude, keep the 1 drum mag in your inventory and have 30 round mag in your AK. If the firefight goes long, you just reload and use that 75 rounds bad boy.

So I finally found a tent... any tips?
Calvin Candie replied to Death By Crowbar's topic in General Discussion
Can someone confirm if leaving backpack with items on persistent servers does the same as leaving them in a tent? -
I have over 200 hours on hardcore. KoS is lower as it is impossible to hide behind obstacles and stalk people. But there are still killers who shoot on sight. So I would not draw a definite line here. KoS is a mindset not a circumstance.

If you loose gear after login, just go to a different server and you should have your gear back

How to fix KoS and banditry with this great system

I like the idea of getting better at some statistics over time. It really would make you avoid firefights. It would make your character more then the gear it has. -

Same with me. I make 1 circle around g.mountain a day looking for the black smoke. Since that is pretty boring I always take a brake on the side overlooking Zelenogorsk and shoot some Zeds from a distance. Then I take out the binoculars and marvel at how good shot I am. And then I become sad. Sad because I have no scope for my M4. After wiping my tears I continue to circle green mountain.

what's your favorite backpack to use?
Calvin Candie replied to TheMaxedout's topic in General Discussion
Hunter backpack is the best camo-capacity ratio atm. -
I have found 2 crash sites around Green Mountain in 0.49. Both were unintentional find, as opposed to intentional search when I did not find anything. Loot: Helmets CQB M4 buttstock M4 handguard MP Other crap do not remember What do I have to do to get a scope?

Is it worth buying Dayz standalone yet? [With Developer responses]
Calvin Candie replied to Blade4777980's topic in General Discussion
Here is my humble opinion as a person who never before participated in Alpha stages of a game until I bought DayZ. Which was a week after Steam release. So I have seen it all. The bugs, the updates, the anger and the joy. The estatic happines of the community in the morning of each new update. The many "we quit this game" threads to the point admins pinned it to the top of the forums. Your question, after watching the videos, admiring the idea, being worried about bugs - Do I buy the game now or wait? Buy it now. Why? DayZ has an element no other game has. Paranoia. Ever played ANY horror game at night and felt that? Now multiply that feeling x10 in intensity and try to imagine you feel like that for 2 hours constantly. Ever start hearing things in-game that are not there? Dayz will do that. Ever shit your pants 5 times in 1 minute? Dayz will do that. Ever felt your heart pounding at 160 beats per minute after being in a firefight with your legs going numb? Dayz.... That is what you get by buying DayZ:) I recommend. Now the bugs. They brake immersion and they make you want to give up. But the Paranoia feeling never disappeares intrestingly. Even with bugs. And makes you come back every time. I am very critical of games and cant stand some of the new titles out there - far cry boring after 10 minutes, battlefield not realistic, cod-lol, conter-strike is great but gets boring after a while ect. Dayz makes you keep coming back. Longest brake I took was 1 week. -
That is a great story Survivor Ted. I think egzactly like you in these situations. From paranoia and what would dayz veteran do, to ending everything in a dash with the goal of suprising the opposite side and turning the situation to my favor. One question for you. Paranoia is as strong as it ever was in DayZ, despite all the bugs and unfinished elements which brake immersion. Do you think that after the game is finished, and we all witness the gamemaking process, actually see the insides of a game - broken zombies, bugged items, glitched buildings - things that brake immersion - will we ever be able to fully immerse ourselves in this game? Will the perfectly scary schreeching foaming at the mouth zombie be a mass of pixels and bug fixes to us? Will looking at near photo realistic image of Chernarus valley painted with most beautiful post processing bloom and occlusion effects bring nothing more than a FPS counter to our minds instead of admiration for the grand and vast landscape where you are nothing but a speck of dust? I value immersion above all and Ted's story delivers. I hope these stories live on after the release as well.

Ok let me share my wisdom here. There is a key to peacefully solve cca 80% of encounters. Here is how, even if you are outnumbered. Upper hand. Take a picture of a situation. Analyse what they are doing. Catch them unprepared (looting, eating ect.). Vocalise your intentions, be friendly but equip a weapon. Lead the situation. Say what you intend, ask them what they intend. Trade stuff. Part peacefully. Check your back while leaving.

I got the jacket, still looking for the pants. If they even egzist. The way clothing is being introduced, an average team of 4-5 people will soon look like The Village People

The War on Wilderness - Reclaiming Myshkino
Calvin Candie replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
Please explain. I do not understand "more wilderness" point of view. There is plenty of vast forests and valleys throughout Chernarus. In all parts of the map. What exactly is wilderness? How big should it be? What should it have? If I run through trees for 5 minutes I am pretty much in wilderness! No need to create another 50 km2 of forests, lakes and mountains. They are all the same anyways! -
Play experimental instead. Fps performance has improved significantly. You can now run on stairs.Shootguns cut down trees (no joke). Doors make sounds. Hot and cold influence added. Few new items. Ect.

I like the fact that this game is placed right after the outbreak. It is a savage disaster that shows it's face by leaving behind ruined buildings and smoldering crash sites. Yet, it left some things untouched. Things that didn't have time to perish. Things that remind you what was lost. Life you had before. Gas generator in the yard still running. Gas can knocked over. Half eaten meal in the dining room. Radio still turned on, broadcasting static noise. Clothes layed out neatly on the bed. Broken balcony railing. Huge blood stain on the pavement. No body. Smudged footsteps going away from the place where the person landed. These details bring everlasting fear of near-end..something big happend but you survived. Will it happen again? What is next? Am I in hell? Feels real. And the smell. Never smelled that before outside the kitchen and bad restaurants. Like burned...well..meat..burned meat...and guts..no, this IS hell. On earth. Thats feeling I want. Mod had it. SA not so much.
